  5. General information:
  6.  
  7.         To use a miroCRYSTAL/miroMAGIC/miroRAINBOW graphics board 
  8.         the 02E8h address must not be used. This address is used 
  9.         by COM3, COM4, and gameport expansions, and by some network 
  10.         boards. In addition, you have to deactivate the VGA on your 
  11.         motherboard (if there is a VGA).
  12.  
  13.         If the computer does not boot correctly (spec. with an
  14.         EISA graphics board and an Adaptec EISA busmaster SCSI 
  15.         controller 1742) or if the monitor select program does 
  16.         not detect the installed graphics board, these are computer-
  17.         specific problems. To solve these problems, activate ROM 
  18.         shadowing for the Video BIOS, using the motherboard BIOS 
  19.         setup or the corresponding Memory Manager option. For 
  20.         MS DOS 6.0 change the CONFIG.SYS file in the following way:
  21.         DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386.EXE ... ROM=C000-C800 ...
  22.         Please also refer to your computer's manual or to the 
  23.         MS DOS 6.0 manual.
  24.  
  25.         For all multiscreen and miroTWINFACE configurations ROM 
  26.         shadowing HAS to be activated for the Video BIOS.
  27.  
  28.         In a multiscreen or miroTWINFACE configuration with a high 
  29.         resolution VESA local bus (VLB) graphics board and another ISA 
  30.         or EISA graphics board, the VLB board has to be configured as 
  31.         first board by setting the jumper. This is not true for a 
  32.         multiscreen or miroTWINFACE configuration with a miroVGA or a
  33.         miroCRYSTAL 8S/ISA.
  34.  
  35.         In a multiscreen or miroTWINFACE configuration the warm start 
  36.         with the key combination <CTRL> <ALT> <DEL> may not work. In 
  37.         this case use the reset key (cold start).
  38.

  40. Information on the installation:
  41.  
  42.         If you have problems to install from diskette you can also 
  43.         copy them into a directory on your hard disk.Then, assign a 
  44.         drive letter to this directory with the SUBST command. Please 
  45.         refer to the MS DOS manual.
  46.         When copying the disks, you have to keep the following order:
  47.         first miroWIN Disk 2 and then miroWIN Disk 1
  48.  
  49.         When using a miroCRYSTAL 8S you should consider whether you 
  50.         prefer an extremely high vertical scan frequency or a high 
  51.         processing speed. As a compromise, select a 64 kHz monitor. 
  52.         The resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels with 256 colors is then 
  53.         realized with 75 Hz. This is due to the fact that the 
  54.         miroCRYSTAL 8S is equipped with DRAMs.
  55.  
  56.         If you installed a Windows network version, there may occur 
  57.         problems resulting from the configuration. The miro software 
  58.         has to be installed at the work place. The installation program 
  59.         has to be able to copy drivers, applications, and configuration 
  60.         files to the local Windows directory of the computer at the 
  61.         work place. In addition, it is neccesary that the local files 
  62.         SYSTEM.INI, WIN.INI, CONTROL.INI and MWINTOOL.GRP can be
  63.         created/overwritten. With the help of the monitor-select-
  64.         program each work place is adapted to its individual equipment 
  65.         by entering specific data in the OCTO.MON and the three *.INI 
  66.         files mentioned above.
  67.  
  68.         If you exchange your old graphics board by a miroCRYSTAL /
  69.         miroMAGIC / miroRAINBOW graphics board or if you exchange 
  70.         one miro board by the other, you should reconfigure Windows
  71.         for VGA. In doing so, you avoid that a wrong driver runs on 
  72.         your new graphics board when starting Windows and that your 
  73.         system crashes. Install the driver for the new board in the 
  74.         VGA mode.
  75.  
  76.         If the call for the OCTOINI program is still in your 
  77.         AUTOEXEC.BAT from a previous installation, you may 
  78.         delete this call.
  79.

  81. Installation under Norton Desktop:
  82.  
  83.         If you use the Norton Desktop instead of the Microsoft 
  84.         Program Manager, the miroWINTOOLS group (MWINTOOL.GRP) 
  85.         which the installation program generates may not be 
  86.         integrated in the Norton Desktop. To avoid this, start 
  87.         the Program Manager (PROGMAN.EXE) as a symbol before 
  88.         starting the installation program or integrate this 
  89.         group manually in the Norton "Quick Access" group after 
  90.         the installation. To do so, open the drive window containing 
  91.         the Windows directory and the "Quick Access" window 
  92.         and drag the MWINTOOL.GRP file from the drive directory 
  93.         window to the "Quick Access" window. Also refer to your 
  94.         Norton desktop manual.

  97. Information on Windows:
  98.  
  99.         At the 640 x 480 resolution do not select the option 
  100.         "TV overscan" with miroSUPERSCREEN.
  101.         
  102.         If the icons in one of your program groups are black (or you 
  103.         get an error message concerning this), there are too many icons 
  104.         in this group. Split this group up into smaller ones. This is 
  105.         due to Windows and occurs with 65k/16.7 mill color drivers.
  106.  
  107.         If key commands are not accepted after switching to the MS-DOS 
  108.         prompt, press the <ALT> key. Then, Windows checks the state of 
  109.         this key and the following key commands will be accepted.
  110.  
  111.         In some cases lines remain on the desktop. To avoid this, enter
  112.         VXPBLT=1 in the SYSTEM.INI file under [928.drv].
  113.  
  114.         In the SYSTEM.INI file in the [386Enh] section, you can add 
  115.         EMMEXclude=A000-FFFF. Then, the whole adapter address range is 
  116.         excluded from the scanning of free memory blocks.
  117.  
  118.         miroSCOPE has to be closed before calling the MS DOS prompt.
  119.         If you don't do so, you can not switch from the full-screen
  120.         to the windowed mode by entering <ALT>+<RETURN>.
  121.
