  4.       ET3000 Windows 3.1 Video Driver Installation Instructions

  8. This driver disk is designed to allow you to select or change the
  9.  
  10. video driver for Windows 3.1 using Windows Setup. Setup can be
  11.  
  12. executed from within Windows, or from DOS. Note that these driver
  13.  
  14. files are in Microsoft compressed format and can only be accessed and
  15.  
  16. executed by installing through Windows Setup. Simply copying the files
  17.  
  18. into your \Windows\System subdirectory WILL NOT work and may corrupt
  19.  
  20. your Windows installation. Installing the drivers correctly is,
  21.  
  22. however, a simple process. It is accomplished by following these
  23.  
  24. instructions:

  30. Installation from floppy disk

  34. 1) Insert your Driver Disk in the appropriate floppy drive.
  35.

  38. 2) From your Windows directory, type SETUP and select DISPLAY to
  39.  
  40. change the video driver. Or, with Windows running, select Setup from
  41.  
  42. the Program Manager Main group. Refer to your Microsoft Windows User's
  43.  
  44. Guide for assistance in running Setup from inside Windows.

  48. 3) Select "Other disk..." to direct the program to the floppy disk
  49.  
  50. holding the new drivers. Note that after the drivers are installed,
  51.  
  52. you will not have to select "Other disk..." again should you decide to
  53.  
  54. change resolutions. Look for the ET3000-based drivers in the Display
  55.  
  56. selection menu to select the display resolution you want.

  60. 4) When asked where the drivers will be found, state the following:

  74. Installation from Hard Disk

  78. 1) Having the drivers loaded on the hard disk will make it easier and
  79.  
  80. faster to change resolutions in the future. Make a subdirectory to
  81.  
  82. hold the driver files.

  86. example: C:>md \et3drv

  90.         and switch to that subdirectory (C:>cd \et3drv)

  94. 2) Insert the drivers disk into the appropriate drive and type the

  96. following command:

  100.         COPY A:\*.*

  104. 3) From your Windows directory, type SETUP and select DISPLAY  to

  106. change the video driver. Or, with Windows running, select Setup from

  114. 4) Select "Other disk..." to direct the program to the subdirectory
  115.  
  116. holding the new drivers. Note that once the drivers are installed, you
  117.  
  118. should not have to select "Other" again should you decide to change
  119.  
  120. resolutions. Look for the ET3000-based drivers in the Display
  121.  
  122. selection menu to select the display resolution you want.

  126. 5) When asked where the drivers will be found, state the following

  140. 6) A standard Windows selection menu will appear with additional video
  141.  
  142. drivers from which to select.

  146. 7) Proceed normally through the remainder of the process. Check
  147.  
  148. Microsoft Windows installation procedures if necessary.

  152. 8) If you are having problems installing these drivers please contact your 
  153.  
  154. board vendor for further assistance.(as your vendor may have done proprietary
  155.  
  156. enhancements that require custom drivers)
