  22.  
  23. The Graphics device drivers supplied here are for the Microsoft Retail 
  24. Release of the Windows NT operating system.
  25.  
  26. The drivers will substitute 640x480 by 256 colors if the mode selected is 
  27. NOT supported by the mach64 graphics hardware.

  69. 2.0     Installation Notes for Windows NT
  70.  
  71. This driver package containing:
  72.   
  73.   - ATI.SYS        (ATI Graphics miniport driver)
  74.   - ATI.DLL        (ATI Graphics display  driver)
  75.   - OEMSETUP.INF   (setup files used by Windows NT Setup program)
  76.   - TXTSETUP.OEM
  77.   - ATI_VID
  78.   - This README file

  80. Windows NT drivers are included on Disk #3 of this package.  They are
  81. located in the \NT sub-directory.
  82.  
  83. Procedure:
  84.  
  85. 1. Run the Windows NT Setup program located in the Program Manager, Main
  86.    group.  
  87.    
  88. 2. Select Change System settings, from the Options pulldown menu.
  89.  
  90. 3. Select Other, from the display options.
  91.    
  92. 4. NT will prompt you for the correct path, enter A:\NT, where A: is
  93.    the drive containing the mach64 Disk #3.
  94.  
  95. 5. A list of all Graphics Accelerator drivers will appears, select
  96.    the resolution and color depth desired.
  97.  
  98. 6. Restart Windows NT.  Windows NT will start up using the mach64 drivers.
  99.  
  100. Note: If you select a color depth or resolution, not supported by your 
  101.       card, NT will substitute 640x480, 256 color for the display.

  104. 2.1     Uninstalling the Windows NT drivers
  105.  
  106. How to uninstall the mach64 Windows Device Driver.  There are TWO ways to 
  107. do this without re-installing Windows NT.
  108.  
  109. ONE method is:
  110.     CD \winnt\system32\drivers
  111.     ren ATI.sys  ATI.ati
  112.     Windows NT looks for ATI.SYS drivers at boot time, if it cannot find
  113.     it, it cannot use it.

  115. SECOND method is:
  116.     While running Windows NT, execute the Win NT Setup program.
  117.     Select a NON mach64 driver  (try VGA compatible)
  118.

  121. 3.0     Known Problems
  122.  
  123. This driver does not currently support 1280x1024 on ISA mach64 product.
  124.  
  125. This driver does not currently support 24 bpp at resolutions greater than
  126. 640x480 on ISA mach64 product.
  127.  
  128. Some applications do not handle 24bpp and 32bpp properly resulting in the
  129. colors not looking right.
  130.  
  131. What to do if  ACCELERATOR not found message appears:
  132.  
  133. Is there another adapter card in the system that CONFLICTS with I/O
  134. locations in the 350-35F hex range?  Relocate the I/O to 300 to 31F range.
  135.  
  136. Attempting to run the mach64 Install program under NT will report 
  137. "Mach64 Adapter not detected.".  The install program must be run from DOS.
  138.  
  139. 1280x1024 is not currently supported on non-linear aperture configurations
  140.  
  141. 24 BPP is not currently supported on non-linear aperture configurations at 
  142. resolutions greater than 640x480.

  146. 4.0     Reporting Problems
  147.  
  148. If you experience any difficulties, open the file REPORT.TXT and complete 
  149. the Problem Report form.
