2.0 Installation Notes for AutoDesk Products
1) Run INSTALL from Disk #1 of the ATI mach32 diskettes.
2) Select Drivers Installation from the Main Selection Menu.
3) From the Install Enhanced Drivers menus select one of the following:
AutoCAD
Autodesk 3D Studio
AutoShade
4) Follow the screen instructions to completion.
5) When INSTALL reports that the driver has been successfully installed,
exit the install program.
6) All the AutoDesk products require environment variables to be loaded
prior to starting the application. The ATI install program creates
batch files that contain all the necessary Set statements. These
batch files will be located in the directory specified during the
driver installation. The following are the default batch file names:
AutoCAD R10, R11 and R12 ADIACAD.BAT
AutoDesk 3D Studio R2 ADI3DS.BAT
AutoShade with Renderman ADISHADE.BAT
7) After running the appropriate batch file, refer to your Autodesk
documentation for information on how to select and reconfigure the
display driver.

3.0 Known Problems
- 1280x1024 16-Color Mode:
The 1280x1024 16-color mode (4 bits per pixel) is not supported on a
non-interlaced monitor.
- Autovision GIF files:
Images saved as GIF files may display vertical lines when viewed.
Render Autovision files will not save as GIFs. Attempting to do so,
may result in a General Exception Error.
- Rendering:
It is generally recommended that the Rendering display be configured for
a higher color depth than the Main AutoCAD display. The Main and
Rendering display can be configured for the same color depth. We do
not recommend configuring the Rendering Display for a lower color depth
than that used by the Main AutoCAD display.
When one saves rendered images in one mode and then tries to replay
these saved rendered images in another mode one sees many white
horizontal bars instead of the saved image.
- 3D Studio - rendered images:
The first time a rendered drawing is loaded it will appear correctly.
Attempting to reload the image a second time may result in nothing being
displayed. The screen returns to the display screen.
- 16 Color Display Drivers:
When ever possible, use a 256 or higher color driver. The 16 color driver
may experience display problems.
