  22. allows you to check on the particulars of the different domain names or even 
  23. a particular user ( such as his/her last login time ). Its place in 
  24. ConnectPal Professional is to serve as a power "toy" to further enhance your
  25. experience with the internet.

  30.  Net ToolKit?

  35. Basically, finger allows you to check the identity of a particular user
  36. in a server. It would tell you, if the finger is successful, the name of
  37. the person, the last login time of that person, which server he last logged 
  38. into etc...

  40. Example, given a user's email address as "myname@mydomain.com". One can 
  41. enter "myname" as the query string and "mydomain.com" as the host name. 
  42. A successful finger would return the particulars of that person.

  44. Note that not all host supports the finger function. In this case, the 
  45. finger operation would be unsuccessful and an appropriate message 
  46. would be displayed.

  50. 4. How do I activate the Netscape Messenger email program for Netscape
  51. Communicator? I can't seem to find the executable for the Netscape 
  52. Messenger but I want it to load when I receive new mail.

  57. the end of the file path, add the following parameter "-mail"

  61. The "mail" parameter would then tell Netscape Communicator to just launch
  62. its Messenger program without loading the Navigator.

  66. 5. How to set up ConnectPal configuration when I launch it 
  67. for the first time?

  71. ConnectPal autodetects your connection profiles from your Win95 Dialup 
  72. Networking.

  74. Under "Configuration Console", select "Connection" tab. 
  75. Select the Connection Profile that you want. Click "Edit Profile". 
  76. Fill in your username and password. Domain is optional. Click "Modify" 
  77. to close. You can change your profile properties from "Profile Properties". 
  78. Click "Make Default" to ask ConnectPal to autodial this number whenever 
  79. you make a connection. This would ensure that all you need to do is to
  80. click once and leave the hassle of logging in to your dialup server due
  81. to busy lines. Remember to click "Safe Configuration" before 
  82. exiting to ensure your changes have been saved.

  86. 6. What is the use of the "Get GMT Time" function in the Net Toolkit?

  90. Getting the GMT time is useful for finding out the time of other countries. 
  91. This is useful for emails which often has a date/time stamp of the 
  92. sender's time zone.

  94. Example, if the email's sent date/time stamp is 13:00 -7:00, it means that
  95. if the current GMT time is 22:00, then the current time is 15:00 in the 
  96. sender's country.

  104. First, if you are running ConnectPal, you need to exit from it.
  105. You need to access the Windows Dialup Networking folder in order to delete any 
  106. connection profiles. After you have deleted the profile(s), run ConnectPal
  107. Professional. ConnectPal would automatically detect that you have deleted
  108. one or more profiles and require you to update ConnectPal's own profile
  109. database. Check the boxes of those connection profiles which you have
  110. deleted and click on the Delete button.

  118. The Scan button detects any live connections already established EXTERNAL of
  119. ConnectPal Professional (such as dialing in with the conventional Windows
  120. Dialup Networking). Once an external connection is detected, ConnectPal
  121. would set its internal state to emulate as if the connection was 
  122. established through ConnectPal.

  126. 9. How do I uninstall ConnectPal Professional?

  130. Uninstalling ConnectPal Professional is simple. 
  131. First go to "Control Panels" -> "Add/Remove Programs". 
  132. Select the entry "ConnectPal Professional" in the programs listing.
  133. Lastly, click on the button "Add/Remove" and you are done.

  137. 10. I've deleted away some dialup networking connection profiles. When I 
  138. started ConnectPal, a pop-up window appeared asking me to delete away those
  139. profiles which I've deleted. After checking the deleted profiles and 
  140. clicking on the "Delete" button, I proceeded as usual in my dialup business.
  141. When I started ConnectPal the next time, the same pop-up window appeared.
  142. Why? I thought I've already deleted away the profiles.

  147. button, you need to update ConnectPal by clicking on the "Save Configuration"

  153. connection, an error number of 5 was reported. Why?

  157. This occurs when there is no entry for the program to be run even though 
  158. you have checked a Program Number to be activated in the Program Launcher
  159. Window. Enter the full pathname of the program you wish to launch in the
  160. Application Textbox or you can click on the browse button to find the
  161. program you wish to run.

  165. 12. When I click on the "Create Shortcut" button, ConnectPal reported an
  166. error that the file was not found or cannot be moved.

  170. This occurs as the Windows registry setting and the actual FAT32 record do
  171. not match for the location of the ConnectPal executable file. This event is
  172. rare in occurrence. However, you can still create a shortcut to ConnectPal
  173. manually. Follow the steps below :

  175. i) Open up Windows Explorer
  176.  
  177. ii) Go the the directory where the ConnectPal executable (ConnectPal.exe) is
  178. located. The directory is likely to be 
  179. C:\Program Files\ConnectPal Professional\
  180.  
  181. iii) Drag the ConnectPal executable file to the desktop.

  183. Finished! Windows has automatically created a shortcut for you right there
  184. on your desktop!

  188. 13. After ConnectPal has successfully created a shortcut for me, I can't 
  189. seem to access the ConnectPal icon in the Program menu. It just 
  190. dissappeared.

  195. ConnectPal Professional OR you can make a copy of the shortcut link for 
  196. ConnectPal Professional and paste the copied link onto the

  202. ConnectPal redialed again.

  207. than by clicking on the Hangup button, as sudden dropped line or a sudden
  208. disconnection. If you have checked a tick in the "Auto-redial for sudden
  209. line drop" in the ConnectPal Configuration Console's Option tab, ConnectPal
  210. would then redial again.

  223. as new mails. It is assumed that you would download the mails from your
  224. mail server using your email program and the email program would delete the
  225. mail from the mail server's inbox.

  227. Hence, if you are reading mails from your mail server without
  228. deleting them, then ConnectPal would still report the number of
  229. new mails corresponding to the number of mails in your mail server's inbox.
