This directory contains new support files for a disk-based library designed
to read/write IFF files. The library is the dissidents ilbm.library, version
0.6.
Apparently, the C interface to the library, ILBMInterface.asm, did not work
at all well with the Lattice assembler. That assembler did not like some of
the pseudo opcodes which (I assumed) have become fairly universal. The inter-
face worked fine with Manx which is what is used to test the C examples. This
new ILBMInterface.asm will work just fine with Lattice. Also, I have included
a BLink object module so that you don't need to assemble the .asm file. Manx
users shouldn't use ILBMInterface.lobj with the Manx linker as the resulting
executable will crash. Isn't it great that these companies don't care about
data file compatibility?
I would appreciate any comments/suggestions/bug reports
Thanks go to Peter for pointing out this problem. The rest of you Lattice
users should have let me know if you were having troubles. Don't assume that
because you couldn't get something to work, it doesn't work at all. If you take
the time to persue a solution instead of giving up, you might find that a
solution is obtainable. Oh dear, the guys on BIX would say that I'm giving
sermons again. Well the hell with it. Some people really need to hear the
bloody obvious.
The documentation for the ilbm library has been completely rewritten for
improved clarity and better organization. There is also information about new
features incorporated into the library.
Furthermore, there are two new C examples to demonstrate using the ilbm
library to read/write any kind of IFF file.
And if you decide not to order the Amazing Kitchen Limbless Dicer, it's
yours to keep free of charge...
