<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< BUTTONS >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
All - Selects all filenames and directories in the current
directory or ZIP file that satisfy the INCLUDE and
EXCLUDE patterns.
CLEAR - De-selects all filenames and directories in the current
directory or ZIP file.
COPY - Copies all selected files from the current directory to the
destination specified in the DESTINATION window. Dates,
protection attributes and comments are also copied. If the
file already exists in the DESTINATION directory and has
the same date and time, it is skipped.
There is one exception to this: if the DESTINATION is the
same as the SRC directory, then you have the opportunity
to provide a new name for the destination file.
Copy is fully recursive and will copy all files and
subdirectories from a selected directory. Any files in
subdirectories will be copied only if they pass the filters.
DELETE - Deletes all selected files (or directories) in the current
directory or ZIP file. This function will prompt for
confirmation before proceeding.
WARNING: Delete is fully recursive and will delete all files
and subdirectories found in any selected directory. Delete
will request a second confirmation before proceeding. Files
in subdirectories will be deleted only if they pass the
filters.
INFO - Activates the File Attribute Editor. This allows you to
rename files, edit AmigaDOS and ZIP file comments and change
the file attributes (HSPA RWED) using buttons. Once changes
are made, use the mouse to select the SAVE button to store
the changes and return to the file list window. Select the
ABORT button to return to the file list window without
altering the current selection. ABORT also cancels any
pending file selections. Select the QUIT button to return
to the file list window without altering the current
selection.
Info also displays the Compressed Size, Compression Method
and the Compression Ratio if the selected file is inside a
ZIP file. You may change the filename, comment or attributes
for any file inside a ZIP file.
If the selected file is a ZIP file, additional information
will be presented. This information includes the total
uncompressed size, the total compressed size and the ratio
of compression as well as the number of files in the ZIP.
You may add a ZIP Comment to the ZIP file. This comment may
be up to 255 characters lone.
DISPLAY - Displays all selected files in the current directory or ZIP
file. Each file is displayed in the order it is listed in
the files window. Pressing the right mouse button or
clicking in the Display Window close-box will advance to
the next selected file in the list.
Click the mouse in the top half of the display screen to
scroll towards the beginning of the file. Click the mouse
in the bottom half of screen to scroll towards the end of the
file. (Or use the Arrow buttons or slider to scroll.)
PRINT - Prints all selected files in the current directory or ZIP
file to the selected printer device (PRT: PAR: or SER:).
If no files are selected and PRINTER ECHO is off, PRINT
prints the file list to the printer. This is a handy way
to get a hardcopy of the file list or the ZIP catalog.
INCLUDE - Presents a tool that allows you to insert up to three masks
which will be used to determine which files ARE displayed in
the files window. This is a handy way to reduce clutter
while viewing files or ZIP listings.
PALETTE - Presents a tool which allows you to change the colors of the
screen. Click on each color button and use the color sliders
to change that color. Pressing the OK button will enable
PKAZIP to use the current selections. Pressing the CANCEL
button aborts any color pending color changes and exits the
Palette tool. Pressing the RESET button returns the colors
to the settings which were active on entry to the Palette
tool but does not exit the Palette tool.
ABORT - Abort the current operation.
UNZIP - Extracts (decompresses) all selected ZIP files to the
destination directory specified in the DESTINATION window.
Decompression rules are specified using the EXTRACT pull-down
menu.
ZIP - Compresses selected files and adds them to the ZIP file
specified in the DESTINATION window. Compression rules are
specified using the COMPRESS pull-down menu.
TEST - Tests all selected ZIP files by recalculating the 32-bit
CRC (Cyclic Redundancy Check) for each file.
SEARCH - Search offers two very POWERFUL and UNIQUE modes:
SEARCH BY COMMENT:
If the COMMENT button is set to display AmigaDOS
filenotes, then SEARCH will examine all AmigaDOS
filenotes. In addition, SEARCH will examine all
file comments stored with each file in a ZIP
catalog!
SEARCH BY FILENAME:
If the COMMENT button is set to display AmigaDOS
filenames, dates, times, and protection bits, then
SEARCH will examine all AmigaDOS filenames. In
addition, SEARCH will examine each filename in a
ZIP catalog!
Both search modes offer anchored pattern match (refer to
WILDCARDS below in MISCELLANEOUS NOTES) to the pattern
entered in the SEARCH string box:
PATTERN: MEANING:
? matches any single character
* matches one or more characters
Any other character must match exactly! All patterns are
case insensitive (uppercase = lowercase).
NOTE:
SEARCH is fully recursive and extends into all
subdirectories contained in the current directory.
Both search modes examine the information stored inside
ZIP files. Now, you will not have to extract files
to locate what you are looking for!
PARENT - Moves to the directory above the current directory. Movement
is toward the root of the disk. For example, if the current
directory is DF0:TEST/MANY then pressing PARENT will change
the current directory to DF0:TEST. If the contents of a ZIP
file are being displayed, the PARENT button will exit the ZIP
file and display the normal DOS directory listing.
If the current directory does not end in a ':' character
there will be a / entry in the file listing. Double clicking
this entry will also move up one directory level. Note that
this entry can not be selected.
COMMENT - Toggles the file list display between file or ZIP comments
and file displays using size, date and time attributes. An
example of the file list display with comments is:
adds buffers to the specified drive AddBuffers
allows script files to get input ask
allows reassignment of ffs: as dh0: assigndev
An example of the file list display with size, date and time
attributes:
876 ---arwed 10/27/88 18:24:45 AddBuffers
556 ---arwed 03/14/88 18:40:29 ask
6784 ---arwed 09/20/87 19:44:28 assigndev
HELP - Displays the help file.
EXCLUDE - Presents a tool that allows you to insert up to three masks
which will be used to determine which files are NOT displayed
in the files window. This is a handy way to reduce clutter
while viewing directory listings.
LICENSE - This button displays the license agreement.
EXIT - Quits PKAZIP.
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< CURSOR CLUSTER>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
UP - This button scrolls the file listing up if there are enough
files in the list to allow scrolling.
DOWN - This button scrolls the file listing down if there are enough
files in the list to allow scrolling.
LEFT - If the DESTINATION box contains an entry, this button
transfers the contents of the DESTINATION box to the CURRENT
DIRECTORY box.
RIGHT - If the CURRENT DIRECTORY contains an entry, this button
transfers the contents of the CURRENT DIRECTORY box to the
DESTINATION directory box..
S - This button swaps the contents of the SOURCE and DESTINATION
boxes if both the SOURCE and DESTINATION boxes have characters
in them. If either box is empty, this operation is skipped.
H - HOME moves to the beginning of the list or file.
U - PAGEUP moves the list or file backward by one page.
D - PAGEDOWN moves the list or file forward by one page.
E - END moves to the end of the list or file.
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< MENUS >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
EXTRACT - This menu contains those options used during file
de-compression:
UNCONDITIONAL - All selected files are extracted to the
destination directory.
NEWER FILES ONLY - Only files which have newer dates than the
destination files are extracted.
ASK IF EXISTS - If a file already exists in the
destination directory, prompt the user
for permission to over-write it.
USE PATHNAMES - Extract files using the full pathname
and filename. If the pathname does not
exist, this operation will ask you if you
want to create it. If you answer YES, the
destination directory will be created and
the files will be extracted to it. If you
answer NO, the file will be skipped.
USE FILENOTES - Writes any filenote assigned to a
compressed file to the Amiga DOS filenote
for that file.
NOTE: Only USE PATHNAMES and USE FILENOTES are saved using
PREFERENCES.
COMPRESS - This menu contains those options used during file
compression:
UNCONDITIONAL - All selected files are compressed and
added to the destination ZIP file.
UPDATE - Any selected file which does not exist
in the ZIP catalog will be compressed and
added to the ZIP file. Any selected file
which exists in the catalog but has a newer
date/time stamp will be re-compressed
and added to the ZIP file.
FRESHEN - Only selected files which are already in
the ZIP catalog and which have newer
date/time stamps are re-compressed and
stored in the ZIP file.
CHANGE - Compresses selected files that are not
in the ZIP catalog and which DO NOT have
their Archive bit set. Once the file is
compressed and placed in the ZIP file,
the Archive bit will be set on the file
in the file list.
FORCE SHRINKING - Forces all files to be compressed using
Shrinking. This is significantly faster
than Imploding.
MOVE - Delete files after they are compressed
and added to the ZIP file. This option
may be used in conjunction with the
previous compression menu selections.
ENCRYPT - As files are compressed and added to the
ZIP file, they are encoded so they
can not be extracted without the proper
password. This function is not active
in the initial release.
LONG PATHNAMES - Store filenames with the full pathname,
less the source drive designation.
Example: test is the current directory
full path: dh0:cfiles/test/program.c
"cfiles/test/program.c" would be used as
the filename.
SHORT PATHNAMES - Store filenames with pathname relative
to the current directory.
Example: test is the current directory
full path: dh0:cfiles/test/program.c
"program.c" would be used as the
filename.
USE FILENOTES - Amiga DOS filenotes for each compressed
file are saved in the ZIP file.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< MISCELLANEOUS NOTES >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Assigning PKTEMP: to an alternate drive creates a temporary ZIP file at
the specified alternate location. This temporary file is used only in
the creation of the ZIP file, and will be automatically deleted when the
process is complete. If you do not assign PKTEMP:, the temporary file
will be created in the T: directory.
Double clicking on a directory name will change the current directory
to that directory. This will display those files found in the new
CURRENT DIRECTORY.
Double clicking on a ZIP file will display the list of files that are
contained inside the ZIP file. Pressing PARENT will return to the
normal AmigaDOS file list.
Double clicking on a filename will display that file just as if you
had selected it and pressed the DISPLAY button. Pressing the right
mouse button will return the display to the file list.
Files are NOT deselected after copying to facilitate moving files from
the Source Directory to the Destination Directory. Once the files
are copied, they can be deleted from the source directory because
they are still marked. If you do not want to delete them, simply
select the CLEAR button to deselect them.
Preferences are loaded every time PKAZIP is run.
The mouse may also be used to scroll a file in the DISPLAY mode.
Clicking and holding the left mouse button in the top half of the
display will scroll the file downward while clicking and holding the
left mouse button in the bottom half of the screen will scroll the
file upward.
The mouse can also be used to control the slider and arrow buttons
in the file display mode.
WILDCARDS: Wildcards are compatible with MS-DOS and UNIX. The '*'
references any character and '?' indicates any single character.
Examples:
??.c any two letter file with a .c extension
??now*.c would match xynowben.c
*.zip any filename with a .zip extension
*.?? any filename with a two letter extension
