SuperMenu v1.51: Introduction
OK, folks, I'm finally releasing this sucker. I've been adding enhancements
and features at too quick a rate (it would never be released if I didn't get
calmed down for awhile). Anyway, this archive contains the SuperMenu program,
documentation file (SuperMenu.doc), and a sample configuration script for it
(an AmigaDOS help file a beta-tester sent me - it's not quite complete, but
all of the commands are there - it's in two parts, the configuration file:
AmigaDOS.config, and the text file: AmigaDOS.HELP).
To run the program, either copy the config file (AmigaDOS.config) to the S:
directory and call it "sm.config" OR use the command-line options when you
run the program:
With the config file in s: as sm.config, run it this way:
Run SuperMenu [RETURN]
OR:
Run SuperMenu AmigaDOS.config [RETURN] (make sure you are in the proper
directory. This sample script is
designed to run from the directory
the program and text file are in.
Make sure you CD there first!)
To invoke the program, press the HELP key!!! Read the .doc file for LOTS more
information!!!

Oh yeah: TWO important, known bugs:
1) Crashes horribly when run from Workbench (I have an icon, and the program
will except and read Workbench icons and TOOLTYPES, but does the big firework
right after that - don't know why, and it's ticking me off... works while in
my development environment, but not in any other situation.)
Work-around: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO RUN THIS FROM WORKBENCH. Use CLI instead.
OR you might try IconX or something - but I haven't tried this!!!
1-b) OK OK OK. Ignore the above bit, it is provided for humor only...
No, really, I found out that the program wouldn't work AT ALL, IN ANY
CIRCUMSTANCE, except from within my environment (lots of background
stuff). Anyway, I went back to an older handler routine (with a stub
in assembler) and it works fine. Use from CLI or Workbench and enjoy!
2) The BOXES mode seems to draw random (semi-random??) lines all over the
window and stuff - another big pain - worked fine until I added a new feature
that had nothing to do with it - then it started screwing up. Don't know
what's wrong yet, but when I fix it, I'll tell ya...
If anyone can suggest anything (report bugs, especially, BESIDES the ones I
just told you about), PLEASE let me know. You're my pre-release testers right
now (I don't think it can get the proper beta-testing without a wide usage).
I'll make sure to get all you testers/helpers out there early copies of the
next versions of SuperMenu (how about pictures, sounds, AREXX port, dish-
washer, and egg beater???)
By the way, this AmigaDOS help file is provided as a sample script (something
you can work from) only - if you get any use out of that particular file,
then don't thank me, it's there just to show you how the program works!!
Have a JOLT and a Smile... Enjoy...
