  9.   The selector is completely dynamic and asynchronous; you
  10. may change directories, select files, scroll the file list,
  11. etc., while the selector is scanning a directory.
  12.  
  13.   The three Sort Gadgets (Alpha, Size, and Date) work like
  14. switches.  For instance, if you click on the "Alpha" Sort
  15. Gadget, the gadget will remain highlighted ("On") when you
  16. release the mouse button.  The File Selector will now
  17. alphabetize directories automatically until you turn the Sort
  18. Gadget "off" by clicking it again, or click on a differnt Sort
  19. Gadget.

  21.   Clicking the Menu Button activates the FILE or PATH String
  22. Gadget, allowing you to type in a new file or pathname without
  23. having to click inside of the string gadgets first.  Also, some
  24. keyboard shortcuts are available:

  26.     ESCAPE key        - Same as clicking on the "Cancel!" gadget.
  27.     Cursor-Up key     - Same as clicking on the Up Arrow gadget.
  28.     Cursor-Down key   - Same as clicking on the Down Arrow gadget.
  29.     Shift-RETURN keys - Toggle between FILE and PATH gadget.

  31.   Note that if the PATH, FILE, or PATTERN String Gadgets are in
  32. use, the keyboard shortcuts are disabled.

  34.   The selector has a software path length limit of 344 characters.
  35. You will receive a warning message in the titlebar if you try
  36. to exceed this limit.
