  16.   Available via anonymous ftp is version 1.1 of KingFisher, now offering:

  18.     1. the much-requested program name index (faster than Aquarium's.)
  19.     2. capability to adjust to overscan, PAL, and interlace resolutions.

  22.   General overview of KingFisher:
  23.  
  24.   KingFisher is a freely distributable replacement for Aquarium, providing
  25.   a mechanism to search for software in Fred Fish's Library of Freely
  26.   Distributable Software.  KingFisher has been designed for users of both
  27.   floppy-only and harddisks systems operating under either Kickstart 1.3
  28.   or Kickstart 2.0.

  30.   KingFisher v1.1 offers the following features:
  31.  
  32.   - Maintains a split database across multiple disk volumes,
  33.   - Searches this database more than 3 times faster than Aquarium,
  34.   + Provides a small and very fast program name search index,
  35.   - Adds new fish directly from Contents files or Usenet postings,
  36.     even from multiple concatenated postings or email contents files,
  37.   - Fish can be deleted from the end of the database to undo errors,
  38.   - Database is a line-oriented text file accessed through index
  39.     which can be modified by hand and then reindexed,
  40.   - Flexible print and export functions, including search-filtered
  41.     output,
  42.   - Select from multiple different search strings,
  43.   - Limit searches to a portion of the database,
  44.   - Follow version links to older or newer versions of software,
  45.   - Maintain multiple different "bookmarks" into the database and
  46.     switch between them with a single mouse click,
  47.   - Supports proportional and scalable fonts for description text,
  48.   + Adjusts to overscan, PAL, and interlace displays,
  49.   - String gadgets are optionally kept active for keyboard comfort,
  50.   - Full configuration saved between executions,
  51.   - Iconifies to save Chip RAM (46K).

  53. This update to the original version 1.0 does not include a database.
  54. To obtain the database and complete program documentation, too, you
  55. must obtain a file named KingFisher.lha which is 477691 bytes in size.
