- I've received several requests by people wishing to see the data files
- used to generate the image known as THING8.GIF. This image recently
- appeared in Drew Well's excellent POV-Ray manual Raytracing Creations.
-
- The image shows a wooden bedpost-like object protruding out of a ring
- of blue water-drop-like shapes.
-
- Unfortunately, the data file for THING8 has found it's way into
- lost-sock heaven.
-
- As an alternate source for learning the "how-to" of making drop-like
- shapes, I am posting the data files for HYPEDEMO.GIF which was recently
- published in Bill Allen's 3D ARTIST. This file is provided as a tutorial
- only. Feel free to use the technique, but please don't plagerize the
- code (the image isn't that great anyway).
-
- To make drop-shapes using my method, you will need three programs:
- Truman's Torus Generator : TTG.ZIP or TTGLITE.ZIP
- CircleMaster : CM.ZIP
- Hype : HYPE.ZIP
- All three programs are available on both CompuServe (GO GRAPHDEV) and
- The Graphics Alternative BBS.
-
- As you analyze the POV code, you'll see that it simply amounts to stacking
- the various shapes created by the programs. Hopefully, the comments will
- make the code clear enough.
-
- Enjoy, and happy rendering.
