  5. This is a GIF-file analyser running under DOS. Its based on the
  6. program called "giftest" written for Unix-systems by Jonathan O'Neal.
  7. Many thanks to him.

  9. It was compiled with Gnu's DOS-port of their GCC-compiler,
  10. called DJGCC Version 2.4.1 and NDMAKE Version 4.5. So please
  11. read the GNU-Licence-file 'LICENCE.GNU'.

  13. The DOS executable in this distribution is named GIFTEST.EXE
  14. and a man-page already formatted for MSDOS-system called
  15. GIFTEST.1

  18. SHAREWARE
  19. ---------

  21. GIFTEST is inexpensive shareware. If you are continuing using
  22. it after a 30 day trial-period, please send a letter containing
  23. the filled and signed registration-form and the little donation
  24. of 10 $ or 15 DM in cash to the adress below.

  26. The you will receive a PASSWORD enabling you to encrypt the
  27. full-licenced version shipped in the archive FULLGIF.ZIP using
  28. the command 'pkunzip -spassword fullgif.zip'. This will
  29. overwrite the shareware version of GIFTEST.EXE
  30.  
  31. ATTENTION: The dots the shareware version of GIFTEST.EXE produces
  32. are just delay, to force you to register.
  33.  
  34. ATTENTION: A registration is recommended for commercial use.
  35.  
  36. ATTENTION: The full-licenced version is restricted to a local
  37.            area network (company) or a privat single host.

  40. NEEDS

  43. Version 1.0 of GIFTEST is compiled with a new version of DJGCC,
  44. the executable is now running under DPMI (so even in a Windows-
  45. DOS-Box), but still needs at least a 386-machine.

  47. The Gnu-environment-executable 'GO32.EXE' has to be somewhere
  48. in the PATH. If running on a 386, the GNU-387-emulationfile
  49. 'EMU387' has to be, where the environment variable GO32 is
  50. pointing to, so if the emu-file is in D:\LIB enter:

  52.   set GO32=emu d:/lib/emu387
  53.  
  54. and then just start the program by typing
  55.  
  56.   GIFTEST *.gif
  57.

  59. CHANGES
  60. -------
  61.  
  62. Please do not recommend any big changes or any new versions
  63. of this program. Its working all right, doing its job and
  64. there is really NO need in enhancing it. But, if it should
  65. not work on any DOS-system, please report it with a complete
  66. description to the e-mail-adress below.
