  9. Cobian Backup is a multi-threaded program you can use to backup your 
  10. files and directories from their original location to other 
  11. directories/drives in the same computer or other computer in your 
  12. network. Cobian Backup exists in two different versions: application 
  13. and service.
  14.  
  15. You can automatically backup your files once, daily, weekly, monthly, 
  16. or on a timer basis. 
  17. You can also save and open lists with different backup file sets. 
  18. The program creates a log file which optionally can be mailed to you 
  19. automatically.
  20. Cobian BackUp can be used as an application (Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP)
  21. or as a windows service (Windows NT/2000/XP). 
  22. Cobian BackUp has integrated compression capabilities, using 
  23. the standard Zip algorithm. All the functions in the program can 
  24. optionally be password protected.

  26. Install and uninstall

  28. Important: running under NT/2000/XP, you must have administrative 
  29. privileges.

  31. To properly install Cobian Backup, simply run the Install.exe program. 
  32. Choose a directory to install, for example C:\Cobian Backup and select 
  33. the installation mode: 
  34.  
  35. As a service: If you are running in NT/2000/XP, this option will be 
  36. enabled and the recommended one. You will be prompted if you want to 
  37. run the service under the system account or other account. If you are 
  38. accessing network resources, you cannot run the service under the 
  39. system account.

  41. As an application, autostart for any user: this option installs the 
  42. program as an application, and starts it automatically when any user 
  43. logs on.

  45. As an application, autostart the current user: option installs the 
  46. program as an application, and starts it automatically when the current 
  47. user logs on.

  49. As an application, no autostart: The application must be manually 
  50. started from the icon in the start- menu. 
  51.  
  52. You MUST start the computer after the installation is completed.

  54. To uninstall the program, go to the Control panel- Add/delete program 
  55. and select Cobian backup.

  57. Cobian Backup is Freeware. You are allowed to copy, use and distribute 
  58. the program, but you must distribute ALL the original files:
