  1. I hope this programme will be of help to those with
  2. young children and particularly those parents of 
  3. toddlers who may suffer from ADD/ADHD (Attention Deficit
  4. /Hyperactivity Disorder).
  5.  
  6. Children who suffer with ADD usually have very short
  7. attention spans, give the appearance of daydreaming and
  8. have great difficulty concentrating on any one thing.
  9. Children with the added hyperactive element i.e. ADHD
  10. are in addition to the above, often very restless 
  11. appearing to be permanently on the go, destructive 
  12. without thinking, constantly talking/shouting and 
  13. requiring very little sleep. These are just some of the 
  14. possible symptoms. You can find out more by visiting our

  17. Many of the above symptoms manifest themselves in very 
  18. early childhood i.e. often from age 2. With early 
  19. identification these children can be helped at a very
  20. early stage and receive the right support as they start
  21. playgroup and school.

  23. At present many parents are living this "nightmare" and
  24. more often than not these children are not diagnosed
  25. until age 10 or above when people finally realise there
  26. may be a problem.

  28. By the use of this programme aimed more at younger 
  29. children it is hoped that some parents may be made 
  30. aware of this disorder whilst their children are at
  31. a young age, so that if the symptoms above are being
  32. displayed they may seek help now and reap the benefits
  33. of early detection.

  35. It is often the case that these disorders can be so
  36. stressful in a family situation that a total family
  37. breakdown results. It is not uncommon for ADD/ADHD 
  38. children to be in one parent families. If this programme
  39. succesfully highlights the problem for just one family
  40. then it has been worth it.
