  1. SpamEater Pro 2.20 and Std 2.2.0 Read Me File

  4. SpamEater Pro/Std is an application that will clean your POP3 mailbox of spam (unsolicited junk email) BEFORE you download it with your POP3
  5. email client. Features extensive listing of known spammers, ability
  6. to add entries to the spammers listing, unlimited number of spammers
  7. in the listing, unlimited number of valid email address, and more.
  8. SpamEater features an easy to use user interface and a step by step
  9. assistant for setting it up.

  11. Requirements:

  13. 1) An internet connection using TCP/IP (eg. Dialup Networking)
  14. 2) Email mailbox account on a POP3 server
  15. 3) Windows 95/98 or NT 4.0 SP3
  16.  
  17. Installation:
  18. -------------
  19. 1) Unarchive the ZIP file to a temporary directory.
  20. 2) Run the enclosed SETUP.EXE program to install the files and create
  21.    the SpamEater folder and icons. ** 
  22. 3) Run SpamEater and choose the File | Preferences menu item to run
  23.    the Setup Assistant to configure SpamEater. ***

  26. ** If you are a registered user of v2.0 or earlier, then you should have received an email message with your new registered key for this version. If not, please email support@hms.com to request your free key update. If you are running a registered v2.12, then your registration
  27. information will remain valid for this new release.

  29. ** If you are upgrading a previous version of SpamEater, and you've
  30. made changes to your spammers list, then choose the Custom install
  31. and uncheck the option to install the spammers.txt file. You can then
  32. run the update process (see the help file) and update your listing
  33. with new entries, and retain your current entries.

  35. *** If you are upgrading from a version prior to 1.8.5, then you will 
  36. need to re-enter your password for your mail server. This is due to 
  37. the new feature of SpamEater that now encrypts your password when 
  38. saving it to disk.

  40. The Standard version of SpamEater (SpamEater.Exe) is released as a
  41. freeware product. The Pro version (SpamEtrP.Exe), with enhanced functionality, is released as Shareware with a 30 day, unrestricted, trial period. Please see the online help file for more information regarding both releases.
