  4. 1. Phoenix Mail Application

  6. Phoenix Mail must be running at the startup of the Language Kit, 
  7. because the actual caption of the controls is fetched at runtime.

  9. When you start the Language Kit, make sure, that in Phoenix Mail 
  10. no modal dialogs are running and there is no online connection,
  11. because Phoenix Mail would crash. (I'm sorry about this!)
  12.  
  13. It is very helpful to turn on the "Select Language"-dialog in the 
  14. Environment Options of Phoenix Mail, because you can switch at 
  15. every startup of Phoenix Mail between the original language and 
  16. the translated language.

  19. 2. Accelerators
  20. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  21. Accelerator keys enable the user to access a command from the 
  22. keyboard by pressing Alt+ the appropriate letter, indicated by 
  23. a "&"-character. Keep an eye on it, that you don't use the same 
  24. accelerator character within the same dialog. The accelerator 
  25. letter is usually one of the first characters in a word.

  28. 3. Placeholders

  30. If there is a string containing a "%s" then this is a placeholder 
  31. and will be replaced at runtime with an value. Don't forget to 
  32. include the "%s" in your translated string, because it is necessary 
  33. and would crash without it.

  36. 4. Dots
  37. ~~~~~~~
  38. Don't forget the dots! Sometimes there is a ":" or a "..." and 
  39. they are likely forgotten.

  42. 5. Ending spaces

  44. Sometimes the strings have endings spaces. You don't have to worry 
  45. about them, because they will be added automatically at runtime. 
  46. So don't insert ending spaces!

  49. 6. Length

  51. Make sure that the translated text is not longer than the original 
  52. text and test *all* dialogs for non-fitting-text.
