- 1/ Brief Background
-
- UCC short for Universal Cybernetic Corporation has lately been under the
- eye of the government after tales of genetic mutation. One of the largest
- robotics companies in the world has set up a factory in London. Ever since
- an unseen killer has killed people who walk past the factory. UCC deny any
- accusations of any ganetic experiments. But it is too late and now the
- government has decided to mount an investigation. But the investigating
- agent must be undercover as if UCC were to suspect of any government
- involvement they would shut down their factory and move abroad. This would
- be disastrous to economy as London relies on company exports. A ZODIAC
- agent will be sent into the factory. You must reach the genetics laboratory
- and collect an embryo of a new 'product'. If you succeed then this evidence
- can be used to blackmail UCC into stopping the production of the new
- product. You play the role of this agent and it is your job you do not get
- captured, as UCC will dispose of your body in such a way that no evidence
- will be available of your ever existence...

- 2/ Character Selection
-
- Strength: Physical strength in combat and how much agent can carry
- Dexterity: Hand-eye co-ordination. Affects repairs and damage in combat
- Endurance: How much equipment can be carried or stamina
- Intelligence: How clever person is and it affects role-play
- Movement: Speed at which agent can move
- Combat: How hard a succesful hit is
- Weapons: Skill in missile combat and repairing gun
- Computers: Repairing backpack computer and how good androids repair
- Electronic: Repair of electronic equipment
- Mechanical: Repair of mechanical equipment
- Medical: Repair of human body
- Psionics: Psychic energy level

- 3/ Equipment Purchase
-
- Click on PASS to select an item, to buy item click on BUY. When you have
- bought what you want press right mouse button. Information is displayed.

- 4/ Screen Layout
-
- Left of screen is DAMAGE indicator. If boxes are half or more full than
- that area of body is restricted. If head is like this then vision becomes
- blurred. horizontal bar beneath shows energy.
- Right of screen is EQUIPMENT indicator. Click on grey coloured boxes to see
- what you are carrying in each pocket in your clothing. Belt containt power
- lead to recharge energy weapons and other equipment. Horizontal bar beneath
- this represents suits power level.
- Bottom right corner is the LOOK window. It shows what you are seeing such
- as inside pockets or anything in room within reach. Bottom arrow cycles
- through, pointing down where possible means drop object. If it is damaged a
- red cross appears along with drop icon. Vertical column next to it shows
- how much repair process has been completed.
- The main CONTROLLER is in the middle. Use up and down arrows to crouch,
- duck, stand, and jump. Use up arrow with jetpack to launch, down arrow
- clicked slightly longer to land. While running use up arrow to do a running
- jump over an object. Button with hand allows you to manipulate or use an
- item. The eye icon when lit lets you look around. The sleeping figure lets
- you sleep and restore energy, or conserve energy if you are an android. The
- spanner icon lets you repair an object. Click on white cross to run in that
- direction, or in grey corner parts to turn in that direction. Press the P
- key to pause the game unless item is being manipulated.

- 5/ About Damage & Repair
-
- Damage to weapons are repaired with icon. Click on it until mercury rises.
- Physical damage repaired with first-aid kit. Robots require electronics kit.
- Find kit then press manipulate button. Only useable once. Repairing gun is
- however more difficult and will take more skill and dexterity.

- 6/ Armour
-
- Ablative: Good but every hit destroys part of it
- Reflective: Excellent against energy weapons but crap at hand combat
- Standard: Middle of reflective but does absord some hand combat
- Supreme: Best but uses lots of power, heavier, & out of power means capture

- 7/ Combat
-
- To use gun hold in hand and move cross hair. If out of power you will punch
- instead. You can however recharge the gun.

- 8/ Manipulation
-
- Find the object you want to use, if run out then click on manipulate. There
- is now a full screen image of object, e.g. medi-kit. Find chemicals to
- refill medi-kit. Now manipulate chemicals and they are used to refill kit.
- For gun use power lead in belt and once again manipulate it. To pick object
- up use look. Now anything that comes into range of look window you can pick
- up. Hold left mouse button over object and drag into an empty pocket. To
- move from pocket to pocket use same procedure. Doors can be opened in two
- ways. Firstly, if they are pressure mounted just walk and they will open.
- Secondly it could be locked. To open click on look icon, now you will see
- close image of panel. Manipulate this image nad it will be shown full
- screen. Now just enter 4 digit code, if correct green light on panel will
- flash. If still dont open rearrange combination. Or you could use
- lock-pick. Manipulate and it will find code but first get full image of
- control panel. It will give you 5 seconds to note down code for future
- reference. To open airlocks insert smart card then enter code. When the
- code is correct then click on yellow button. If at Computer terminal look
- at monitor screen and manipulate. Now you can doss about and select
- security clearances etc.

- 9/ Elevators
-
- Elevators are the only way to move between levels in the building. There
- are two panels which are relevant to the elevator. The small panel outside
- the elevator shows you what floor you are on. To use it follow this...
- Click on arrow shaped button and elevator will be called. Inside is
- controls. Now manipulat your smart card and it will be inserted. Now choose
- which floor you want, if no access is granted you will not be able to goto
- that level.

- 10/ Power
-
- To recharge suit get up a terminal. Now insert smart card and click power
- button to activate it. Suit is now 'burst charged'. To do this with objects
- get up image of object and look at it before manipulating the power lead.
- Careful though as damaged objects may sometimes explode! Buildings power
- can be cut at fuse box. Manipulate fuse box and click on button beneath
- fuse and power will be cut. Fuses can be replaced by player and guard so
- watch out. Use bomb or grenade to permanently cut power. Robots can still
- see as can androids but creatures are affected, and so are you unless visor
- is worn.

- 11/ Security
-
- Cameras are mounted up high and should be blown up. Infra-Red beams can be
- destoryed but preferably you should leap over them. Pressure pads are
- discoloured tiles and should be avoided. Once alarm is set off guards
- immediately hunt you down on that level. If gas is releases put on a mask
- or you will die, but if you have gas-mask you cant wear visor. If affected
- use medi-kit to save yourself. Once alarm is on, doors with keypad are
- permanently locked.

- 12/ Save & Loading
-
- Look at belt and click the cycle button. you will see a disk so manipulate
- it. To cancel click right mouse button.

- 13/ Hints
-
- A) Dont rush and be careful
- B) Shoot cameras, etc. from a distance
- C) Recharge as soon as possible
- D) Use power or fuel equipment sparingly
- E) Learn to use psychic powers. Find out what brings up selection menu
- F) Use explosives sparingly
- G) Examine holograms very carefully
- H) Fight with your back to the wall
- I) Try to keep a clear escape route

- APPENDIX/ A

- Backpack computer: Manipulate to turn on and you can see a map
- Bombs: Can destory walls. Set timer then click enter. To start the timer
- click on the red button. Now drop the bomb!
- Compass: Use to plan movements
- Disruptor: Drop it and when robots go across it they will short-circuit
- Drink: Gives energy
- Electronics-Kit: For androids to repair themselves or bionic limbs
- Face mask: Partial protection from gas but can be worn with visor
- Gas mask: Total protection from gas attack but no visor
- Grenade: Destorys lights, doors, enemies, etc. but not walls
- Stun grenade: Bright light but no affect on robots
- Guns: All are energy weapons and enemies use cheapest
- Holograms: With scanman you can see 3D views of building, etc.
- Jet pack: Heavy but lets you fly at the cost of energy
- Lock pick: Use this to open keypad doors
- Medi-Kit: This is to save health but needs chemicals
- Psi-Drugs: Improve psychic power for a time but reduce ratings
- Psi-Eye: Wear this and psychic actions are more powerful
- Scanman: View holograms by manipulating this and then hologram
- Smart card: ID card with lots of information
- Visor: Manipulate for Infra-Red, Image Intensified, and Thermal vision
- Wrist watch: Simply look at for time, runs faster than real time

- APPENDIX/ B

- Psychic powers only available to humans. Beliefs of power are centred on
- the number 3 and the triangle. The number 3 has 3 areas that has 3
- different states. the first is believed to be no effect, micro effect, and
- macro effect; in other words whether the effect is on a body or the
- constituent parts thereof. Second is no effect, positive effect and
- negative effect. Symbolises good, bad, minus and plus. Lastly there is no
- effect, effect home, effect away. This desrcibes whether speel affects
- caster or someone else. To use these you must find the secret control panel
- to experiment...

- Levitation: Ability to move off the ground
- Clairvoyance: Move a spirit to see what is happening at a distance
- Heal: Repairs cells in body and equipment, etc.
- Density: To improve the molecular will or armour
- Mid blast: To affect creatures with psychic power from caster
