  1. SYSTEM MENU HELP

  4. Field Names - Use this option to edit the fields of the current database.
  5.  
  6.               For each field you can enter a field name upto 20 chrs.
  7.               Choose a field type:-
  8.  
  9.               1) Text - Allows text,numbers and special characters.
  10.               2) Numeric - Allows numbers and special characters.
  11.               3) Date - A date in the format dd-mm-yyyy (20-08-1992)
  12.               4) Time - A time in 24hr format  HH:MM    (23:30)
  13.               5) Logical - (Y)es/(N)o    or (T)rue/(F)alse.
  14.               6) External - Allows an IFF picture or ASCII text file
  15.                             to be loaded into a record.
  16.               7) Percentage - Range from 0 to 100%
  17.  
  18.               For each field you also enter the maximum width of an
  19.               entry in that field. i.e  5 if your longest entry is
  20.               "STEVE".
  21.               Some field types have a fixed width that you cannot
  22.               alter.

  24.               Text - Any length
  25.               Numeric - Any length
  26.               Date - 10 chrs. dd-mm-yyyy
  27.               Time -  5 chrs. hh:mm
  28.               Logical - 1 chr. Y/N or T/F
  29.               External - 40 chr. (An IFF picture or ASCII text file)
  30.               Percentage - 3 chr. (0 - 100%)

  33. File Heading - Allows you to alter the title of the database you are
  34.                editing.
  35.

  37. Alter filenote - Allows you to alter the comment that describes the file
  38.                  you are editing. e.g. This is a database of my computer
  39.                  disk collection.

  42. Design new form - Allows you to reposition the fields to a more
  43.                   suitable layout. Click on the field you wish to
  44.                   move and drag it about to the position you require
  45.                   and then let go of the left mouse button.

  47.                   Click right mouse button to return to the main
  48.                   screen.

  51. Reset form postions - Resets the positions of your fields as changed
  52.                       with the design form layout option back to the
  53.                       default layout.

  56. Load form - Allows you to load just the form positions from the disk.

  59. Save form - Allow you to save just the current form positions to disk.

  62. Set password protection - This option allows you to set up three levels
  63.             of password protection for your database.
  64.  
  65.             The three levels are:-
  66.  
  67.          3) Read only protection. Allows you to merely view records.
  68.             No editing or deleting etc.
  69.  
  70.          2) Read and edit protection. Allows to view , filter , save
  71.             and insert further records. No deleting.
  72.  
  73.          1) No protection. Allows all functions to be used and
  74.             passwords can be changed.

  77.             The passwords can only be changed when you have full no
  78.             protection entry to the database.

  80.             If a database is password protected then you will be
  81.             required to enter a password upon loading.
