  13.     This program was made after we had enough of cursing over badly
  14.     coded, inequal and often inaccurate copy-programs (i.e. X-COPY)!!
  15.     Because of this we decided to create a copier superior to all
  16.     other copiers seen before, and this is it...
  17.     D-Copy is developed by hackers for hackers, and suited for your
  18.     needs, and therefore D-Copy should be your choice from now on!!

  25.       *  A2000/2500

  28.     D-Copy has been tested with:
  29.       *  512k - 8meg memory expansion
  30.       *  1-4 external + harddrive
  31.       *  Kickstart v1.1 - v2.0 (37.175)
  32.       *  68030(turbo) board - some bugs known!
  33.         Nibblecopy doesn't work properly. It copies
  34.         some tracks incorrectly.

  39. features - switches:
  40. --------------------
  41. DOS 1:  Copies standard DOS tracks, including errors.        
  42.  
  43. DOS 2:  Copies standard DOS tracks with corrected errors. Checksums
  44.     are recalculated and some header info are also corrected.
  45.     Otherwise the same as DosCopy 1. Use when data is lost due to
  46.     read errors. This will not recover all data but should be able
  47.     to save some of it.
  48.  
  49. NIB 1:  Copies foreign formats. Use when disks are copy-protected...
  50.     Doesn't work with higher speed processors.
  51.  
  52. NIB 2:  Basically the same as NibbleCopy 1, but uses a different
  53.     method to find the track gap. Same problem as NibbleCopy 1
  54.     with the Turbo-Cards.
  55.     
  56. CHK:    Checks stndard DOS tracks for errors in the selected source drive.
  57.  
  58. RAM:    Tracks are stored in memory; same as single-drive copy, but
  59.     may be written more than once to selected destinations.
  60.     
  61. SRC:    Source drive DF0: - DF3:
  62.  
  63. DEST:   Destination drive(s) DF0: - DF3:
  64.     Writing will affect all destination drives selected. If
  65.     destination and source drive is the same, D-COpy will
  66.     copy in single-drive mode.
  67.     
  68. VERIFY: Verifies selected dstinations. Verify errors are displayed
  69.     in blue digits, where the digit is the drive number. If more
  70.     than one drive gets a verify error on the same track, a blue
  71.     X will appear instead of a digit.
  72.     The verify isn't completely dependable, because the verfication
  73.     starts half a second after the writing has started (e.g. the
  74.     the writine of one track takes half a second). The verify
  75.     routine will read the track correctly, but a damaged track
  76.     may hold this data for a certain amount of time and then 
  77.     loose it. To be sure, wait a while between copying and
  78.     checking target disks for errors.
  79.     All other copy-programs do the same thing, so it's not only
  80.     D-Copy that has this problem. The next version will include
  81.     a better way of verifying disks.
  82.     
  83. FORMAT: D-Copy will ask for the disk name and then start to format
  84.     upon pressing return or clicking on 'GO!'.
  85.     Abort by clicking on 'ESC'!

  89. features - buttons:                        
  90. -------------------                        
  91. KILL:   Removes the system to increase memory.
  92.     Very handy for those who are short on RAM. Use when copying
  93.     in single-drive mode.
  94.     When clicking on the exit button the computer will reset.
  95.     This is a true reset routine (i.e expansion boards are found
  96.     when the system is rebooting). Manu other programs that
  97.     uses the kill-function have very poor reset routines...
  98.     
  99. NAME:   Tells the name of the disk in the selected source drive.
  100.  
  101. DEF:    Sets SIDE 0/1, START+END TRACK, SYNC-WORDS, and SYNC-CORRECTOR
  102.     to the default values.
  103.     
  104. ERR:    Click on ERR and then on an error in the grid to get an 
  105.     short explanation of what it is.
  106.  
  107. DRV:    Scans the system for connected diskdrives (should find 5'25"
  108.     not tested) Handy if you forgot to turn on any drives.

  110. GO!:    Starts the selected function.
  111.  
  112. ESC:    Aborts the selected function.
  113.  
  114. R:  Makes a retry on damaged tracks after a copy. Has shown to
  115.     be very successful in reading damaged tracks.

  119. features - specials:
  120. --------------------
  121. START/
  122. END:    Click in the grid to select start and end track.
  123.     Left mouse button for START and right for END.
  124.  
  125. 0/1:    Selects which head to copy; Top, Bottom, or Both.
  126.  
  127. SPEED:  Selects what speed with which to step the head from one
  128.     track to an other. Speeds are 1 - 9 (Fast to Slow).
  129.     Most drives can't handle a speed faster than 3. You'll
  130.     have to try out what speed is the best for your drive!
  131.     Don't take any chances with using a faster speed than
  132.     your drive can handle. This will only result in read
  133.     errors on your target disks.
  134.     
  135. ATTEMPT:Number of attempts to read damaged tracks. Also affects
  136.     the number of writings during verification.
  137.     
  138. SYNC:   When the sync switch is on, all sync-marks will be recalculated
  139.     during copy. This option should be turned off when copying
  140.     foreign formats!
  141.     The sync-mark is a mark that the disk controller uses to
  142.     find the start of a track or sector on the disk. The standard
  143.     mark for the Amiga is $4489. If you change this, the disk
  144.     controller won't find any valid data on the disk. This can
  145.     be used as a kind of copy-protection, because if you don't
  146.     know the correct sync-word for the tracks, the disk becomes
  147.     completely unreadable.
  148.     The 'R' and 'W' switches above the sync button stands for
  149.     read/write sync-word. If you change the write-sync to an
  150.     other value and copy the disk with this, the disk becomes
  151.     unreadable if you don't know the correct sync-word. Crypting
  152.     protection for valuable disks can be made with this kind of
  153.     operation. You just have to set the read-sync to the same 
  154.     value as you had on the write-sync before and the write-sync
  155.     to the standard sync-word($4489) to get back a readable disk!
  156.     When you choose your 'secret' sync-word you have to let D-Copy
  157.     calculate it for you by pressing the up or down arrows on
  158.     the 'i' selector to the right of the sync-word. This assures
  159.     you that the sync-word is a valid sync value to be used as
  160.     a sync-mark. WARNING! Use this option with caution, since
  161.                   incorrect usage will destroy all data.

  165. Comments:
  166. ---------
  167. MOUSE:  Mouse will be freezed when clicking the RIGHT mouse button
  168.     over the GO-R-ESC area. Indicated by pointer turning yellow.
  169.  
  170. MODES:  If you have selected the same source and destination drive
  171.     the program will turn on single-drive mode automatically. This
  172.     is the only way to get into single-drive mode.
  173.  
  174. DRIVES: If you have connected more than one external drive you may get
  175.     some problems with power consumption. Having a four-drive system
  176.     working requires a lot of power so you just have to see if your
  177.     transformator can deliver the amount your drives need.

  181.     The testing of this program has been made by several of my
  182.     friends and the D-MOB crew, who also gave me moral support
  183.     during intense bug-fixing periods. I also wish to thank all
  184.     those who sent me bug-reports and ideas on how to improve

  192. ps  I have not changed the docfile from version 1.00, I'll wait
  193.     for version 2.0,but some changes can be mentioned:
  194.     Should now run perfect on ALL Amiga's known to me,(including CDTV).
  195.     Better userinterface, crunching in singel-drive mode, indicators
  196.     for worn out disks (beside the two grids), Singel-track formatting
  197.     (select tracks when the 'Enter name:' is up)
