- -- Features (for those still reading)
- - has entire New Testament on one floppy disk, PLUS text editor, reader, and
- a graphic interface to decrunch the scripture files into standard ascii and
- load the files into a text editor.
- - Just drag the ElectricWord drawer to wherever you want it. The program
- handles assigning files by itself. Thanks to James Nelson of CanDo for that!
- -Checks memory while loading. If memory is less than 350k or so before the
- screen opens, some files usually copied to ram for speed reasons and to
- save disk swapping are left on the disk. 512k owners probably won't be able
- to do much multitasking. If more than 350k is around, the files are copied
- to ram.
- - This program is huge, but it should be fairly easy to use. Click on the
- scripture you want, and the scripture is decrunched to ram, then loaded into
- a text editor...NOT a reader.... so you can copy sections of scripture to
- another window, add your own commentaries, work on a sermon, whatever...
- and save the result to a disk as a regular ascii file that your favorite
- word processor should load easily. This version of Textra (a fine pd text
- editor, I may add) does not support printing, but what you CAN do is
- print crunched or uncrunched text files using the PRINT button.
- - The program frees memory (or from what I can tell, almost all of it)
- on exiting. Wish a lot of commercial programs did the same!
- -- I am looking for a pd text editor that handles the pipe: device correctly
- (another text editor I tried let me shoot things into pipe, but it got
- things messed up after a lot of pipe transfers), AND the editor allows
- for printing at the same time keeping all the nifty features (such as
- multiple windows) that Textra has. Would love it if it used the PowerPacker
- library, too, for auto decrunching of text files.
- If you know of one, please contact me.
- - A Complete Old and New Testament version on three disks is available
- from JumpDisk and probably other folks who handle PD disks.
- I hope you enjoy this program. == Rick
