  14.  Well Workbecnh 2.0 is here at last. After such a long wait and many rumours to
  15. the contrary we now have a new Amiga, the A-500 plus, sporting not only the all
  16. singing all dancing WB2.0 but the enhanced chip set as well, great news eh ?
  17.  Despite groans of incompatability from the majority of the industry, I for one
  18. am more than pleased with the beast. Workbench has not only become a useable
  19. alternative to the CLI and Shell, but also a real pleasure to use for the
  20. majority of tasks (and it looks good!). Yet despite the many improvements over
  21. Workbench 1.3 there are still a few options that have been left "for future
  22. developement." and until we see these new features many of us will turn to the
  23. public domain for a whole new breed of WB2.0 utilities. Commodore has
  24. effectively killed a great number of the smaller Workbench hacks with its
  25. rather brilliant commodities program, so now we are looking for new ideas such
  26. as PowerSnap and AssignX which take advantage of the new system features and
  27. improve even further the capabilties of the Workbench.
  28.  I have included on this disk Super Duper which is one of only a few disk
  29. copiers which behave themselves in a multitasking environment, this one in
  30. particular can handle FFS and still looks good when you mess about with the
  31. default font settings. AssignX is here because the idea is so simple, yet we
  32. have all met with the problem of "please insert volume..", thanks Steve for
  33. that one (How long before SID 2.0 I wonder ? Soon please..8^). View80 is here
  34. because I like it, and it opens a screen of its own so if you`ve messed about
  35. with the overscan of the Workbench, the text still reads properly. There are a
  36. few AREXX bits and pieces on here, but you will have to track down some extra
  37. libraries (Fish disks somewhere..). The greatest WB2.0 utility I have come
  38. across so far is Tool Manager, it is totally brilliant and no one should be
  39. without it; more utilities like this please.
  40.  Of course there are many utilities that I could have included on here but most
  41. of these are already easily availiable on collection disk so there was really
  42. no point, utils like Zap, Eye, Fenster, ppmore (>v1.7 looks best.) and so many
  43. more.
  44.  The one utility I should most like to get my hands on is SID 2.0 thanks Steve
  45. for the original SID 1.6, but doesn`t it look awful under WB2.0 (and fails too
  46. work properly I am told ?)
  47.  Anyway enough of my dribble, try the utilities, if you like em then consider
  48. the authors, if you can do better or have some fab WB2.0 stuff then send it to
  49. me, address at bottom of textfile.
  50.  I will in time do more of these collections, as the need arises so keep an eye
  51. open for them.

  57.  Get some fast ram, this has cured a few incompatability problems for me, and
  58.  money spent on ram is never wasted.
