- Features in DME
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
- Well, the features mentioned her are actually features of the menu set
- up (ie the contents of sys:s/.edrc). These have been designed for
- maximum utility, making DME much more 'user-friendly' (aargh! I
- hate that expression).
-
- Save: This doesn't just save the file to the original name, but
- also makes a backup copy of the working file, to RAM: with
- a name of dme.wrk. Just in case!! You may want to change
- this to somewhere on a disk ... it's a bit easier to
- recover from a disk!
-
- SaveAs: As "save" a backup is made - to the same location (ie dme.wrk)
-
- Undo:
- The "Cut" and "Delete Line" options actually move the text
- cut to a temporary file in the RAMt: drawer (t: is often
- assigned to RAM:t in the startup-sequence) called dme.tmp.
- Undo copies the contents of this temporary file back to the
- text at the cursor position.
-
- Character Colours:
- These options, along with the bold, italic and underline
- options do not appear on the screen as actual colours etc,
- but the relevant escape codes are automatically entered on
- the screen so that the file, when viewed with "type" or
- "ppmore" will display the required characteristics. It is
- possible to set the screen font for DME, but this is ONLY
- for the screen and not for the file itself.
-
- Print:
- This option actually saves the current file to a temporary
- location (this time RAM:t/dme.prn) and uses PPtype to print
- this temporary file. The temporary file is then deleted.
