  15.     Ami-Back is a state-of-the-art hard disk drive backup utility for the
  16. Commodore Amiga line of personal computers.  Ami-Back makes the job of
  17. backing up hard drive data quick and easy to do!  Included with Ami-Back is
  18. Ami-Sched, a scheduling program that directs Ami-Back to perform backups
  19. without user interaction.

  21.     This DEMO is of the version of Ami-Back written for users of AmigaDOS
  22. 1.3.  When you purchase Ami-Back, you will get both the 1.3 and 2.0
  23. versions on the same disk.  That way, if you should move up to AmigaDOS
  24. 2.0, you won't have to go through any upgrade hassles!

  26. USING DEMO
  27.  
  28.    1) Copy program to your hard drive; preferably to the sys:tools
  29.       directory.
  30.    2) Execute the program either from SHELL or from WorkBench using the
  31.       icon.
  32.    3) Set up the backup configuration (see menus).  Save your
  33.       configuration.  You should set up the Program Configuration also.
  34.       The log file, index file(s), and File Exclusion Filter all default to
  35.       the sys:s directory.
  36.    4) Most of program functions should be self explanatory.  There are no
  37.       docs included with the DEMO version.  A detailed manual is included
  38.       when you purchase Ami-Back.
  39.    5) You will be able to perform backups to floppies, removable hard
  40.       drives, and/or hard drive partitions, and SCSI Tape drives.

  42.       NOTE:  Applied Engineering's driver for the High Density Floppy drive
  43.       currently does not work under Kickstart version 36.314.  AE is
  44.       working to correct this problem.

  48.  1) Backs up any Amiga hard drive to any AmigaDOS compatible device such
  49.     as:

  52.         Removable media hard drive(s)

  60.     - Requires AmigaDOS 1.3 (for this version)

  64.     - Installation program is provided to install the Ami-Back/Ami-Sched
  65.       programs on the users hard drive, and update the Ami-Back.config file
  66.       of their location.

  70.     - Technical support will be provided to REGISTERED OWNERS of Ami-Back
  71.       via Phone, BBS, BIX, and GEnie. Phone numbers and accounts are listed
  72.       in the owner's manual and in the "about" screen of the program.

  78.  1) Includes versatile scheduler similar in concept to the UNIX cron
  79.     program, but with a sophisticated, easy-to-use graphical interface.

  84.  3) Especially useful for users with tape drives or removable media.

  115.     wildcard metacharacters.  Up to 100 exclusion conditions are allowed
  116.     simultaneously.

  120.  7) True verify mode during backups. Re-reads data from backup media and
  121.     compares it with source data to ensure integrity of backup.

  143.     c) Re-Name (allows user to rename the files restored from backup which
  144.        are found on the target device)

  148.  1) Compare:

  150.     Located on the restore configuration screen, this feature allows the
  151.     user compare the data stored in the last backup and the data currently
  152.     on the target device.  Compare maybe used in the event of suspected or
  153.     real hard drive corruption to check for lost or damaged files.

  155.  2) Log file:

  157.     Logs all tasks performed by scheduler and errors detected during
  158.     background backup operations.

  160.  3) Index File:

  162.     Indices are stored for each backup.  Index naming scheme includes:
  163.     device backed up, type of backup, date of backup, and sequence number
  164.     if needed.

  166.  4) Back-Tracking:

  168.     During backup, if a defective destination floppy is detected, the
  169.     program will allow the user to replace the defective media and resume
  170.     the backup without interruption.

  196.     These results represent only one of the many configurations Ami-Back
  197.     has been tested with.  SCSI controllers tested include: Commodore
  198.     A2091, GVP Series I and II, and Microbotics Hardframe.  Ami-Back will
  199.     also work with the Commodore A2090A for backups to floppies and
  200.     hard drives.  The A2090A does not work well or at all with tape drives
  201.     tested.
