  82.   Before you install Windows NT Workstation on your ThinkPad, you may
  83.   need to get some updated software from IBM or Microsoft.
  84.  
  85.   IBM PC Company is providing the updated software through several
  86.   channels as follows.  It is suggested you get the latest software
  87.   from those channels so that you can set up Windows NT on your
  88.   ThinkPad systems with the information described in this document.

  121. 1.2. Backing up your software and data
  122. --------------------------------------
  123.   IBM recommends that you use a diskette backup program on your system
  124.   to create recovery diskettes of the preinstalled operating systems,
  125.   device drivers and applications.  In addition, IBM recommends that
  126.   you back up all data files to diskettes before installing Windows NT
  127.   Workstation.

  130. 1.3. Removing preinstalled software
  131. -----------------------------------
  132.   <Removing OS/2 Warp>
  133.   If you purchase a SelectaSystem model and are using OS/2 Warp
  134.   version 3, Windows NT cannot be installed with OS/2 Warp dual boot
  135.   configuration in the SelectaSystem.  Therefore, if you wish to
  136.   install Windows NT, OS/2 Warp should be removed from your system
  137.   along with all the preinstalled OS/2 applications.
  138.  
  139.   If you wish to continue using OS/2 Warp with Windows NT, you need
  140.   to use OS/2 Warp Boot Manager.  For more information, refer to
  141.   Windows NT Installation Guide.

  144. 1.4. Before installing Windows NT Workstation
  145. ----------------------------------------------
  146.   Before you install Windows NT Workstation, it is recommended that
  147.   you review the information which is available in the Windows NT
  148.   installation guide. You can install Windows NT Workstation using
  149.   SCSI CD-ROM in IBM DOCK-I/DOCK-II or the built in CD-ROM if
  150.   your ThinkPad has the built-in CD-ROM.

  310. 2.1.1. During Windows NT Workstation V 3.51 installation
  311. ---------------------------------------------------------
  312.  
  313.  - Install Windows NT with the "Customer Setup" option and specify
  314.    the video display as:
  315.    "Standard VGA (640x480, 16 colors)" during the installation.
  316.    =================================
  317.  
  318.    If you chose "Express Setup," Windows NT sets "VGA or Compatible"
  319.    as the display adapter type which may cause the screen black out problem on
  320.    ThinkPad 760/365X Family.  You will have to delete the \SYSTEM32
  321.    directory under the directory where you installed NT and repeat the
  322.    installation process as described above in order to correct
  323.    this problem.

  326.  - If you need to use PCMCIA Hard Disk drives such as IBM
  327.    105 MB/260 MB Hard Disk drive, Integral Peripherals Viper
  328.    105 /260 MB disk, Maxtor Mobile Max131 and the other PCMCIA
  329.    ATA storage devices, you are required to insert the device
  330.    in the PCMCIA slot before you start Windows NT installation.
  331.                       ======
  332.    Windows NT only recognizes the PCMCIA Hard Disk at installation
  333.    time to set up the necessary device driver.

  337. 2.1.2. Install ThinkPad 345C/370C/750C/755 Family NT 3.51 Display Driver
  338. ------------------------------------------------------------------------
  339.  
  340.   The standard video driver included in Windows NT only support
  341.   up to 16 colors. When you need a color depth more than 16 colors, you
  342.   are required to install the Windows NT video drivers as follows:
  343.  
  344.   - ThinkPad 750/755 Family Windows NT 3.51 Video Device Driver Diskette
  345.     (VF75XWNT) supports the following resolution/color depth:
  346.  
  347.      640x480  256 colors (LCD mode, LCD/CRT mode, CRT only mode)
  348.  
  349.      800x600  256 colors,(LCD mode and LCD/CRT both mode for 755CX,
  350.                           CRT mode only for the other 750/755 Family)
  351.  
  352.      1024x768 256 colors (CRT mode only)
  353.  
  354.  
  355.   Installation Instruction:
  356.   -------------------------
  357.  
  358.   1. Boot Windows NT 3.51 Workstation and logon to the system.
  359.   2. Click "Command Prompt" at Main menu
  360.   3. Type the following command at DOS session:
  361.  
  362.      A:>install C:\WINNT35   (enter)
  363.  
  364.      C:\WINNT35 is the drive and path where Windows NT is installed.
  365.      Specify your drive/path name where you installed Windows NT.
  366.  
  367.   4. When files are copied, go back to Program Manager - Main
  368.   5. Click "Display"on Control Panel, click "Change Display Type..."
  369.   6. At Adapter Type, click "Change..." and Select the following adapter
  370.      at Select Device list
  371.  
  372.      "Western Digital Graphics Adapter"
  373.  
  374.   7. Click "Install" and follow the instruction on the screen
  375.   8. When installation completes, shutdown and restart Windows NT
  376.   9. Click "Display", select 16 colors or 256 colors in "Color Palette"
  377.  10. Click "Test" to make sure that the selected color depth is set
  378.      correctly.
  379.  11. Shutdown and Restart Windows NT to finish the setup for SVGA.

  382.   Notes:
  383.  
  384.   1. This video driver supports 256 colors for TFT model ThinkPad such as
  385.      for ThinkPad 345C/370C/755C/755CE/755CX/755CD/755CV/755CDV.
  386.  
  387.   2. DSTN model of ThinkPad such as 750Cs/755CSE support 256 colors only
  388.      with 640x480 resolution for LCD mode, CRT mode or LCD/CRT mode.
  389.      When you use external CRT, it allows you only with 640x480 resolution.
  390.  
  391.   3. Western Digital miniport driver (WDVGA.SYS) included in this driver
  392.      diskette is exactly the same one available in Windows NT 3.51 Service
  393.      Pack #4.

  396. 2.1.3. Install ThinkPad 760/365X/560 Family NT 3.51 Display Driver
  397. ------------------------------------------------------------------
  398.  
  399.  
  400.   The standard video drivers included in Windows NT only support
  401.   up to 16 colors. When you need a color depth more than 16 colors, you
  402.   are required to install the Windows NT 3.51 video drivers as follows:
  403.  
  404.   - ThinkPad Family Windows NT 3.51 Display Device Driver
  405.     supports:
  406.  
  407.      640x480  256/64K colors
  408.               16 M colors
  409.  
  410.      800x600  256/64K colors
  411.               16M colors      (760ED only)
  412.  
  413.      1024x768 256 colors
  414.               64K colors      (760E XGA model only)
  415.  
  416.      1280x1024 16 colors
  417.                256 colors     (760E only with CRT only mode)

  419.   Installation Instruction:
  420.  
  421.   1. Boot Windows NT Workstation and logon the system.
  422.   2. Click "Control Panel", Click "Display"
  423.   3. At Display Setting menu screen, click "Change Display Type..."
  424.      Click "Change" at Display Type menu
  425.   4. Click "Other.." at Select Device menu screen. Insert the display driver
  426.      diskette in the floppy drive.
  427.  
  428.   5. You will see the display devices in the selection list. Chose the device
  429.      from the following list and click "Install" button.
  430.  
  431.      "IBM ThinkPad (Cyber 9320/9385/9382)"
  432.  
  433.      Select this driver for all ThinkPad 760/365X/560 series.
  434.      (ThinkPad 760C/760CD/760L/760LD/760E/760ED/760EL/760ELD/365X/365XD/560)

  436.   6. Restart Windows NT after installation and you will be ready to use
  437.      the display with SVGA mode.
  438.  
  439.   7. After rebooting Windows NT, display resolution is set to:
  440.      640x480/256 colors as the default. Change the resolution/refresh rate
  441.      to the other value you need. To do this:
  442.  
  443.      - Go to Control Panel, click Display
  444.  
  445.      - At Display setting menu screen, click "List All Modes" and chose the
  446.        one required.
  447.  
  448.      - Click "Test" button and make sure the selected mode is displayed
  449.        correctly
  450.  
  451.      - Reboot NT once again to take the changes effect
  452.

  454.  
  455. 2.1.4. How to use display driver with your external CRT monitor
  456. ----------------------------------------------------------------
  457.  
  458.   After you install the Windows NT display driver, take the following
  459.   steps to configure to use with your external CRT monitor.
  460.  
  461.   1. Boot Windows NT Workstation.
  462.   2. When "OS Loader 3.51" screen appears to select the operating
  463.      system to start, change the screen to CRT only mode by pressing
  464.      Fn+F7 key. When your ThinkPad is 345C/370C/750C/755C, changing the screen
  465.      mode from LCD to external CRT only works at this OS Loader screen.
  466.      Fn hot key will not work once you have started Windows NT if your
  467.      ThinkPad is 345C/370C/750C/755C.
  468.

  470.   3. Proceed to log-on Windows NT. Windows NT is started on the CRT screen
  471.   4. When Windows NT is started, click "Display" on "Control Panel"
  472.   5. On Display Settings menu, select high resolution mode (800x600,
  473.      1024x768) and Refresh Frequency by clicking "List All Modes".
  474.   6. Click "Test" to make sure that your CRT monitor can display correctly.
  475.   7. If the selection is all right, Windows NT will ask you to reboot the
  476.      system.
  477.   8. After rebooting Windows NT, it is ready to use with your external CRT.

  481.    A. If you install the Windows NT ThinkPad Feature program, you can switch
  482.       the display mode to CRT only mode, CRT/LCD simultaneous mode and LCD
  483.       only mode on the "Display" menu of the ThinkPad Features Program.
  484.  
  485.    B. If your CRT monitor displays with much of flicker noise or screen image
  486.       is unstable, you can adjust the monitor refresh rate as follows:
  487.  
  488.       Using ThinkPad Feature Program - Display Advanced Setup Menu , specify
  489.       the SVGA monitor type of yours and select the appropriate "Refresh Rate"
  490.       and click "OK" to adjust with your right monitor type.
  491.  
  492.    C. If your computer is ThinkPad 760CD and MPEG/Enhanced Video Feature is
  493.       enabled, maximum resolution is forced to 800x600. If you need to set the
  494.       resolution of 1024x768 on CRT, disable MPEG/Enhanced Video Feature using
  495.       ThinkPad Utility. MPEG/Enhanced Video Feature is enabled as the machine
  496.       default setting but this MPEG/Enhanced Video Feature is not available
  497.       on Windows NT environment.
  498.

  500.   Notice for using external CRT on ThinkPad 345C/370C/755CE/CX/CD/CV/CDV:
  501.   --------------------------------------------------------------------
  502.   Dynamic resolution change between CRT and LCD and virtual screen function
  503.   are not supported. If you use with 1024x768 CRT only mode and switch
  504.   from CRT mode to LCD mode (640x480 resolution) for example, screen image will
  505.   be forced to 640x480 resolution. Switching back to CRT only mode again stays
  506.   with 640x480 resolution on CRT. To restore to 1024x768, go to Display
  507.   Settings menu on WindowsNT control panel, select "Test" button to display
  508.   with the previous resolution as the recovery step.

  679.  However, if the system is connected to the docking station or if some PC Card

  681.  going into STANDBY mode when the system is used with AC mode operation.
  682.  This is to avoid the problems such as communication link break or failure
  683.  when the system is operational with the network environment.

  687.  2.1.6.2.2 FDD Drive/CD-ROM drive warm swapping on 760E

  692.  In order to use this function, you must install Windows NT PIIX IDE
  693.  device driver that is contained in the ThinkPad Utility Disk.

  696.  Installing the ThinkPad PIIX IDE driver
  697.  ---------------------------------------
  698.  
  699.  1.  Boot Windows NT 3.51 on your computer.
  700.  2.  Close any running applications.
  701.  3.  From the Program Manager, double click on "Windows NT Setup" in the
  702.      "Main" group.
  703.  4.  Select "Options"!"Add\Remove SCSI Adapters" from the menu bar.
  704.  5.  From the "SCSI Adapter Setup" dialog box, click on the "Add..." button
  705.      to add a new driver.
  706.  6.  Setup will show a message box explaining how to recover from a
  707.      bad installation.  Select the "OK" button.
  708.  7.  The "Select SCSI Adapter Option" dialog box will appear; select
  709.      "Other (Requires a disk from a hardware manufacturer)" from the
  710.      "Adapter:" list box.
  711.  8.  Next, the "Insert Diskette" dialog box will appear; insert the
  712.      installation diskette into drive A:> (default).  NOTE:  If the
  713.      installation files are located elsewhere, it will be necessary to
  714.      specify the appropriate path to these files in the text box.  Press
  715.      <Enter> to continue.
  716.  9.  The "Select OEM Option" dialog box will appear; select
  717.      "IBM ThinkPad PIIX IDE Driver" and click "OK" .
  718.  10. The "Select SCSI Adapter Option" dialog box will reappear with
  719.      "IBM ThinkPad PIIX IDE Driver" now appearing in the "Adapter:" list
  720.      box.  Click on the "Install" button.
  721.  11. The "Windows NT Setup" dialog box will appear prompting for the path of
  722.      the installation files.  Enter the path for the installation files; the
  723.      default is "A:\".  Click on the "Continue" button.
  724.  12. If installation was successful, the "SCSI Adapter Setup" dialog box will
  725.      reappear, and "IBM THinkPad PIIX PIIX IDE" will be listed.
  726.  13. Select "Close" to exit "SCSI Adapter Setup", exit "Windows NT Setup".
  727.  14. Windows NT prompts you to restart your computer before the new settings
  728.      will take affect. Click "No" to proceed for the next step.
  729.  
  730.  After installation, the PIIXIDE.SYS file is stored in the c:\<Win NT
  731.  directory>\System32\Drivers directory.
  732.  
  733.  Next step is to setup warp swap option that should be proceeded with the
  734.  following two steps:
  735.  
  736.  TPFDD.EXE and TPSWAP.EXE are provided to support this feature. These two
  737.  programs are included in the ThinkPad Utility Disk.
  738.  
  739.  
  740.  Setup Warm Swap Options
  741.  -----------------------
  742.  
  743.   1. Activate the internal FDD drive in Ultra Bay as the primary drive
  744.  
  745.      When the system is booted without FDD drive mounted in the Ultra Bay,
  746.      external FDD is assumed as the active FDD port. To change the active
  747.      FDD port to be assigned for the Ultra Bay FDD port regardless of the
  748.      actual drive presence, one utility command is required to run.
  749.  
  750.      Enter "TPFDD.EXE I" from the DOS command prompt. This enables the
  751.      FDD port always active in the Ultra Bay side.
  752.      This command is required only once as long as you keep using the FDD
  753.      or CD-ROM in the Ultra Bay.
  754.  
  755.      If you want to reset this setting to the default value enabling to
  756.      activate the external FDD port,
  757.  
  758.      Enter "TPFDD.EXE E" on the DOS command prompt.
  759.  
  760.  
  761.   2. Set the Warm Swap Option
  762.  
  763.      Type "TPSWAP.EXE E" from the command prompt. This enables the
  764.      warm swap feature. If you want to disable this feature, type
  765.      "TPSWAP.EXE D". The default mode is disable the warp swap feature.
  766.  
  767.  
  768.   Note that you must restart the Windows NT to make this warm swap feature
  769.   effective.
  770.  
  771.  
  772.  2.1.6.3 ThinkPad Features for 345C/370C
  773.  ---------------------------------------
  774.  
  775.   This section applies only for ThinkPad 345C/370C since power management feature
  776.   is not supported.
  777.  
  778.   Fuel Gauge program suspend icon on 345C/370C
  779.   --------------------------------------------
  780.  
  781.  On the fuel gauge screen, clicking the "suspend icon" must not be used to
  782.  avoid the erroneous situation on Windows NT.
  783.  
  784.    Setting the system to go into suspend mode will cause erroneous situations
  785.    on Windows NT such as delay of time of day clock during suspend and erroneous
  786.    power down for certain devices after resuming the system.
  787.  
  788.    If you use sound device, PCMCIA devices, and timer device for example, suspend
  789.    the system will not restore the device context after resume.
  790.  
  791.    There is a "hibernation" icon on the same menu but using the hibernation
  792.    function is NOT recommended because of the same reasons as suspend.
  793.  
  794.   Suspend/Resume options at power mode setting
  795.   --------------------------------------------
  796.  
  797.    If you set "Will not suspend even if LCD is closed" as an option at
  798.    Suspend/Resume options on power mode icon menu, this option is used in
  799.    the following manner in a Windows NT environment:
  800.  
  801.    This option allows not only inhibiting the suspend operation if the LCD is
  802.    closed, but also inhibits ANY suspend condition such as Fn+F4 suspend
  803.    key, suspend selection at battery gauge icon menu, automatic suspend with
  804.    suspend timer and low battery suspend.
  805.  
  806.    To set this mode effective, click this option on the menu and "save" it.
  807.    Then shutdown and restart NT. When you boot NT, this mode becomes effective.
  808.  
  809.    WARNING:
  810.  
  811.    YOU MUST MANUALLY SHUTDOWN THE SYSTEM WHEN LOW BATTERY CONDITION OCCURS.
  812.    THE SYSTEM WILL NOT GO TO SUSPEND AUTOMATICALLY AT LOW POWER BATTERY.
  813.  
  814.  
  815.  Inhibiting suspend operation
  816.  ----------------------------
  817.  
  818.    You can inhibit the automatic timer suspend operation using the "Power" mode
  819.    menu on ThinkPad Features. Unless you specify "Will not suspend even if
  820.    LCD is closed" option at suspend/resume option, it is required at least
  821.    to set the following power mode in order to avoid going to suspend:
  822.  
  823.    - Set the "Power Mode" to "Customized"
  824.  
  825.    - Set the "Suspend time" to "0" (disable timer suspend)
  826.  
  827.    Save the above option in the Power Mode menu.
  828.  
  829.    - Click "Fuel gauge" icon to open the fuel gauge program
  830.  
  831.    - Double click the "Current Power Mode" icon until power mode icon changes
  832.      to "Customized" mode.
  833.  
  834.    Customized power mode is now becomes effective.
  835.  
  836.    Disabling automatic suspend will avoid the erroneous situation occurring on
  837.    Windows NT. This is minimum thing that should be done in order to avoid
  838.    automatic suspend either in AC power mode or battery power mode.

  842. 2.1.7. Using Windows NT 3.51 Audio Driver for ThinkPad 760L/760EL/365X/560
  843. --------------------------------------------------------------------------

  845. This diskette contains the Windows NT 3.51 ESS Audio device driver for IBM ThinkPad
  846. 760L/760LD/760EL/760ELD/365X/365XD/560.
  847.  
  848. Using this audio driver diskette, you may be able to play back
  849. or record the WAVE/MIDI audio function on Windows NT 3.51 .

  851.  Installing NT 3.51 ESS Audio Driver
  852.  -----------------------------------

  854.   NOTE:

  856.   Before installing this audio driver, it is recommended to install
  857.   ThinkPad Feature Program Version 3.50 for power management feature enabled.

  860.    To install this audio disk, follow the steps below.

  863.    2. Goto "Main", click "Control Panel" and click "Drivers"

  874.    8. Installer will ask you to restart Windows NT. Shutdown and restart

  876.    9. When you start Windows NT, you will be ready to use ThinkPad audio

  879.   Changing the Default Setting
  880.   ----------------------------

  882.   If you need to change the default setting of ESS audio resources such as
  883.   Interrupt number, DMA channel and I/O base address, make sure that the
  884.   selected values matches with the one set by the ThinkPad Feature Program.
  885.   ThinkPad Feature allows you the following alternative setting for the
  886.   each resources:
  887.  
  888.   Base I/O Address: 220 or 240   (220 is default)
  889.   Interrupt       : 5 , 7 or 10  (5 is default)
  890.   DMA channel     : 1 or 0       (1 is default)
  891.  
  892.   To change the default setting, follow the next steps:

  894.   - Go to ThinkPad Feature program
  895.   - Change the default setting using the ThinkPad Feature
  896.   - Shutdown and reboot Windows NT
  897.  
  898.  Playback and Recording

  900.  You may be able to record or play back the WAVE file or play back MIDI
  901.  sounds using "Sound Recorder" or "Media Player" available in the "Accessories"
  902.  group under Windows NT. For more information, refer to Microsoft Windows NT

  905.  To enable suspend/resume feature for audio driver

  908.  In order to allow the suspend/resume function on Windows NT, it is required
  909.  to install the latest Windows NT ThinkPad Feature Program.

  913. 2.1.8. Using Windows NT 3.51 on ThinkPad 345C/370C
  914. --------------------------------------------------
  915.  
  916.  When you use ThinkPad 345C or 370C, special consideration is required to run
  917.  Windows NT Workstation V3.51. During/after installing Windows NT on these machines,
  918.  diskette drive does not work on these system.
  919.  To be able to use FDD drive, you must replace NTDETECT.COM file which fix this
  920.  problem. To replace the file, take the following steps:
  921.  
  922.   Replacing NTDETECT.COM
  923.   ----------------------
  924.  
  925.  
  926.   1. If you install Windows NT using Windows NT Setup Boot Disk, the original
  927.      NTDETECT.COM should not be used. Make the back up copy of the original
  928.      disk and overwrite with new NTDETECT.COM which should be located in the
  929.      root directory of the Setup Boot Disk.
  930.  
  931.   2. During the installation of Windows NT, you may continue to install using
  932.      Windows NT CD-ROM. In this case, the original NTDETECT.COM is copied to
  933.      NT install drive even if Setup Boot Disk has new NTDETECT.COM.
  934.      In this case, take the following to steps.
  935.  
  936.   3. Original NTDETECT.COM is read only, hidden system file located in the
  937.      root directory of the NT install drive.
  938.      Use ATTRIB command to change the file attribute to change the file
  939.      attribute:
  940.  
  941.      ATTRIB -r -h -s NTDETECT.COM
  942.  
  943.   4. Copy the new NTDETECT.COM to overwrite. Restart Windows NT.
  944.

  960.  Function for 28.8K Data modem, run FAX application, MIDI/Mwave Sound

  965.  2.1.9.1  Installing Mwave for Windows NT 3.51

  968.  o If you use Windows NT Remote Access Service (RAS), RAS must be installed
  969.    first BEFORE Mwave NT driver is installed. When Mwave driver is installed,
  970.    RAS original MODEM.INF file is updated by Mwave installer.
  971.    So, make sure that RAS installation is completed.
  972.  
  973.  o To install Windows NT Mwave driver, you must have ThinkPad Feature
  974.    program installed to set or change Mwave DSP resource setting.
  975.  
  976.  o In order to use MIDI, you must install MIDI sample files which are on
  977.    separate diskettes. These MIDI sample diskettes are common diskette used for
  978.    Window 3.1 or Windows 95.

  980.    Installing Mwave driver for Windows NT

  983.    To perform an installation of Mwave under Windows NT:

  985.     -  Place installation disk #1 in your disk drive
  986.     -  Select "RUN" from Program Manager's "File" menu

  991.    NOTE: For Windows NT, the DAA options diskette is not required.

  1019.     -  Respond "Yes" when asked if you wish to use the samples.
  1020.     -  When the installation is complete, shutdown NT and reboot your computer

  1022.  2.1.9.2  Configuring the Mwave modem
  1023.  -------------------------------------

  1025.    After installing Mwave driver, you must configure the communication port
  1026.    number in order to assign the Mwave modem resources on Windows NT.
  1027.  
  1028.    Use your ThinkPad Feature program to select a COM port for the modem.
  1029.    Then, use the Windows NT Control Panel to define the same port.
  1030.    Follow these steps:
  1031.  
  1032.    1.  On 755 family ThinkPad, double click the DSP icon in ThinkPad Feature
  1033.        program. The DSP dialog box appears.
  1034.  
  1035.        On 760 family ThinkPad, double-click ThinkPad Features icon. The telephone
  1036.        icon appears.
  1037.  
  1038.    2.  Choose one of the COM ports shown in the Telephony Function box.
  1039.        A message appears if the COM port is already in use.
  1040.  
  1041.    3.  Choose the Save button. On 760 family, chose OK button to save the COM
  1042.        port enabled.

  1044.    4.  In the Main group, double-click the Control Panel icon.  Then

  1101.     - Infra-Red, IBM MPEG-II (ThinkPad 760CD/760ED), enhanced video function
  1102.       such as video overlay/video capture features are not supported.

  1104.   o Following are the special consideration required on Windows NT 3.51

  1106.     - Suspend/Resume are not supported on ThinkPad 345C/370C. Power
  1107.       Management function is limited. Even if suspend/resume is supported
  1108.       on some other ThinkPad models, using Hibernation function is limited
  1109.       as follows:

  1111.       If Windows NT system partition is created with NTFS, hibernation is not
  1112.       supported. Another limitation is if system is booted using the
  1113.       hibernation file, PCMCIA slot is not powered on. Shutdown and restart
  1114.       Windows NT to use the PCMCIA card.

  1117.     - Battery life may become shorter depending on the memory size, and types of
  1118.       things you do with Windows NT. Since Windows NT does not support advanced
  1119.       power management functions such as CPU power saving function or idle
  1120.       detection. Pay attention to the fuel gauge to monitor the battery life
  1121.       during the operation.

  1123.     - When using audio feature on ThinkPad 365X/560 series, I/O address
  1124.       conflict may occur if Token Ring adapter card is used together.
  1125.       Change the base I/O address of either Token Ring card (A20h) or the
  1126.       the default audio device base I/O address (220h) using the ThinkPad
  1127.       Feature Program.

  1129.     - When ISA adapter card such as network adapter cards are used with IBM
  1130.       docking unit, disable unused system devices such as Mwave modem, IR port
  1131.       if available IRQ for the specific ISA card is constrained. On ThinkPad
  1132.       760 family, the default configuration for the system device uses many
  1133.       IRQs that constrains using for the ISA cards in the docking unit.
  1134.       Recommended to use IRQ =7 if the default configuration is required when
  1135.       the ISA card is used, especially with IBM Dock-II.

  1137.     - The number of PCMCIA devices is limited. Supported PCMCIA devices
  1138.       are listed on the Microsoft Windows NT Hardware Compatibility List.

  1140.     - On all ThinkPad 760E series (760E/ED/EL/ELD), IRQ 15 can not be allocated
  1141.       for PCMCIA card because this IRQ is reserved for the internal use.
  1142.       Assign the different IRQ number for any PCMCIA card.

  1145.     - To use a PCMCIA card, it must be inserted in the PCMCIA slot before
  1146.       Windows NT is started. Inserting or removing the card after Windows NT
  1147.       is started is not supported. Only cold insertion for PCMCIA cards is
  1148.       activated.

  1150.       On ThinkPad 755CD/CDV, PCMCIA ATA storage cards are not recognized because
  1151.       the internal CD-ROM is used as the secondary IDE which conflicts with the
  1152.       resource allocated for PCMCIA IDE under Windows NT.
  1153.       When you use a PCMCIA Hard Disk Card on ThinkPad 760CD/760LD, it needs
  1154.       to disable CD-ROM/Second HDD at Ultra Bay.

  1156.       On ThinkPad 760E/ED/ELD/EL, PCMCIA ATA cards are not supported.

  1158.     - When Adaptec SlimSCSI (APA-1460)PCMCIA card is used on ThinkPad 760E
  1159.       family, IRQ 11 is allocated for SlimSCSI card. But IRQ 11 is also
  1160.       reserved as the default interrupt number for the PCI devices.

  1162.       To avoid the conflict of the interrupt number, change the default 1st IRQ
  1163.       (IRQ11) to IRQ15 on PCI Device Setup menu/Docking Station Advanced Setup
  1164.       menu using the ThinkPad Feature Program.

  1167.     - Windows NT supports IBM Dock-I, IBM Dock-II,IBM SelectaDock Base model 1
  1168.       and IBM SelectaDock I or II. However, hot/warm docking is not supported.
  1169.       To use the device in the Docking station, you must only do cold docking

  1172.   o On ThinkPad 760C/CD, the System Flash ROM which has the following part number
  1173.     does not work when Windows NT SVGA video driver is installed:
