  6. What this package contains:
  7. ===========================
  8.  
  9. This package contains new audio device drivers for use with
  10. Windows '95 (tm), Windows 3.1 (tm) and OS/2 Warp (tm)
  11.  
  12. This package contains four diskette images.  The following
  13. instructions will guide you through creating the diskette
  14. & installing the software.
  15.  
  16. You will need three 3.5" diskettes, formatted for 1.44 Meg.

  19. Creating the diskettes:
  20. =======================
  21.  
  22. 1. Download the DSKFBIN files to your workstation
  23.    in binary mode (WITHOUT character translation or line feed
  24.    & carriage return insertion).
  25.  
  26. 2. Format three 2MB diskette to 1.44MB.
  27.  
  28. 3. Use LOADDSKF to create the new diskette:
  29.

  32.         LOADDSKF 701AUOS2.DSK A:
  33.  
  34.    LOADDSKF can be obtained from IBM separately.
  35.  
  36. 4. Download the BUTAUDIO LABEL file in ASCII mode (allow
  37.    character translations or insertions for your workstation).
  38.  
  39. 5. Use this file to print diskette labels on your printer
  40.    using a utility such as LBLPRINT (also available from IBM).

  49. Installing the software:
  50. ========================

  54.   1. Put the driver diskette into the A: diskette drive.
  55.  
  56.   2. From the Control Panel open Add New Hardware.
  57.  
  58.   3. At the Hardware types menu select Sound, video and games controllers.
  59.      Click the Have Disk button.
  60.  
  61.   4. From the Select Device Models table, select ESS ES688 AudioDrive.

  64. OS/2 Warp
  65. ---------
  66.   1. Open an OS/2 Window and run the ESUNINST.EXE program on the
  67.      installation disk by typing "A:ESUNINST".  This program will
  68.      create a backup of CONFIG.SYS named CONFIG.ESS and remove
  69.      the audio device lines from CONFIG.SYS.  It also creates a
  70.      backup of MMPM2.INI named MMPM2.ESS and removes the audio
  71.      drivers information from MMPM2.INI.
  72.  
  73.   2. Run the new MINSTALL.EXE program on the installation disk by
  74.      typing "A:MINSTALL".  Select AudioDrive ES688 and
  75.      WinOS2/Windows Audio support.  Once the drivers are loaded,
  76.      shutdown and restart OS/2 for the new ES688 drivers to take
  77.      effect.

  82.   1. Put the driver diskette into the A: diskette drive.

  84.   2. From the Windows Program Manager, Select File->Run.
  85.      When the Run dialog comes up, type in A:SETUP.EXE.
