Greetings from Westwood Studios, located in Fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada!
We're Mike and Mike, the programmers of Monopoly CD-ROM, and
we've whipped together a demo for your viewing and listening enjoyment.
This demo is non-interactive, so just sit back and watch it go. Since
you can run the demo straight from the CD, we do not have a full install
program for it. You may need to do some extra things to make the demo
work, which are listed below. The final version of Monopoly CD-ROM will
have a full install program which will take care of all this for you.
This demo requires Windows 3.1, Windows 3.11, or Windows '95. If you are
running Windows 3.1 or Windows 3.11, you will need to have Win32s (version
1.25 or later) installed on your system. If you don't have it, you can
install it from the WIN32S directory (on this disc) by running SETUP.EXE.
You also need to have the latest and greatest version of WinG
installed. This can be installed by running SETUP.EXE from the WING
directory on this disc. This will allow you to see excellent graphics
when running Monopoly CD-ROM with Windows.
For music, Monopoly CD-ROM uses General MIDI (GM) format. Make sure that
your system is set up correctly for playing MIDI files. You can test this
by playing CANYON.MID with the Media Player provided with Windows. If
CANYON.MID plays correctly, the music for Monopoly CD-ROM should play
fine, too. (If you don't have CANYON.MID, try one of the .MID files
in the SCORES directory of the disc.)
For sound effects, Monopoly CD-ROM uses standard Windows digital audio.
If your Windows plays digital sounds, then digital effects should play
in Monopoly CD-ROM with no problems.
To run the demo itself, run MONOPOLY.EXE by choosing "Run" from the
"File" menu in Program Manager.
The full version of Monopoly CD-ROM has tons of cool movies, world-wide
Internet play, network play, a killer soundtrack, tons of awesome digital
sound effects, and really cool computer AI players of varying skill levels!
Monopoly CD-ROM will hit the shelves very soon. For more information, you
can visit Westwood Studios on the Internet (World Wide Web) at
"http://www.westwood.com", or on our BBS by dialing 702-368-2319.
Go check out our web site, because it's way cool!
We hope you enjoy the Monopoly CD-ROM demo. We're going back to work so
we can finish the game as soon as possible. (We need to get it done or
we don't get to attend the big Westwood Studios 10th Anniversary Party.)
Later!
-Michael Legg & Michael Grayford, Coder Dudes.
