  1. Macintosh SerialKeys 
  2.  
  3. Please note the following restrictions to the 
  4. operation of SerialKeys for the Macintosh:
  5.  
  6. 1.  The Macintosh version of SerialKeys requires the Macintosh 
  7. computer Apple Desktop Bus (ADB) hardware to be present.  
  8. Therefore, it will not work with the very early Macintosh 
  9. computers, such as the original MAC Plus, MAC 128, or MAC 
  10. 512 computers.

  12. 2.  The Macintosh version of SerialKeys has been written to 
  13. utilize several new operating system features offered by the 
  14. Macintosh System 7.0 (or newer) and therefore may not run 
  15. properly, if at all, on systems prior to System 7.0.  
  16.  
  17. 3.  The Macintosh version of SerialKeys should operate on 68K 
  18. as well as PowerPC Macintosh computers.
  19.  
  20. 4.  The Macintosh version of SerialKeys has not been tested on 
  21. any of the Macintosh "clone" computers now appearing on the 
  22. market.
  23.  
  24. 5.  The Macintosh version of SerialKeys requires an unused 
  25. serial port on your Macintosh computer.  This can be either 
  26. your modem or printer port.  If one of these ports is not 
  27. available, you will not be able to run SerialKeys.  Note, 
  28. sometimes these ports appear available (e.g., nothing is 
  29. plugged into them), yet they are still being used.  For example, 
  30. an internal modem may tie up your modem port and/or 
  31. AppleTalk can tie up your printer port, even if cables are not 
  32. connected to the computer ports themselves.  Disabling your 
  33. internal modem software (usually a control panel) and 
  34. AppleTalk (usually under the Chooser) and rebooting your 
  35. Macintosh may free up these ports for use with SerialKeys.

  37. 6.  If you wish to run Easy Access MouseKeys with SerialKeys, 
  38. you must start MouseKeys prior to starting SerialKeys.  The 
  39. latest version of Easy Access allows you to have any of the 
  40. access features automatically turn on when your computer is 
  41. powered on.  This option provides a nice solution to the need 
  42. for MouseKeys to be on prior to starting SerialKeys, provided 
  43. you wish to use the two features together.  Please see the 
  44. readme file for more information on this.

  47. If you meet these requirements, and SerialKeys will still not 
  48. run on your computer, the software should provide some kind 
  49. of error message.  Please contact us with this information.
