The Xena Trilogy from Hercules ("Warrior Princess", "The
Gauntlet" and "Unchained Heart") was released to shops early in
1998.  Tapes of Season 1, and also Season 2 episodes, were
available from GetXena.  Rights have since passed to Davis/Panzer
(http://www.adarastore.com/cgi-bin/xena-herc/)  But it should be
mentioned that Davis/Panzer will probably only ship tapes to
US/Canadian addresses.  You can also ring Davis/Panzer to get a
catalog by calling 1-800-382-6074 and order other merchandise by
calling 1-800-835-9689.


TV movies of Hercules are also available on tape with Xena stars
in them.  They include "Hercules & The Lost Kingdom", in which
Renee O'Connor co-stars.  And "Hercules and the Amazon Women", in
which Lucy Lawless plays one of the Amazon women.  "Hercules and
the Maze Of the Minotaur" (which features clips of both Lucy and
Renee), has been released in the UK on tape.


There are rumours of Hercules and Xena episodes appearing on DVD,
but none have been appeared as yet.  UK readers should have DVD's
of Season 2 episodes from April 2000.

"The Xena Scrolls": where can I find them and are they real?

You used to get the Xena Scrolls from the MCA website
(http://www.mca.com/tv/xena).  They were not real in the sense
that they are not true historical documents.  They were created
in conjunction with the show, and they were a blast to read.
Definitely go check them out, if they are still there.


The Xena Scrolls will make much more sense to you after you've
seen "The Xena Scrolls," in which Lucy and Renee act as the
descendants of Xena and Gabrielle, respectively.

Can I get copies of any of the scripts from past episodes?

At one time scripts were being sold by a store in Hollywood, CA,
but it has reportedly stopped such sales at MCA's direction.


Now though, several scripts from Season's 1, 2, 3 and 4, have now
been officially released.  These scripts include those from the
episodes "Dreamworker", "Promethius", "A Day In The Life",
"Destiny" and "The Quest".  The newer scripts also contain an
exclusive photo from the episode concerned.  There are now nearly
2 dozen scripts available now, and more are going to be
forthcoming in the near future.

I have an idea/script for the show -- where should I send it?

Sorry, even for us die-hard Xena fans there are no shortcuts.
XENA: WARRIOR PRINCES is a show like any other in this regard.
Get an agent (if you don't already have one), and have your agent
contact Renaissance Pictures at Universal Studios.


A *real* agent will know how to submit a script or script idea to
the right people.  However, if you're serious about trying to
become a Hollywood writer, go to your local library and check out
the reference section's books on writing and getting published.
Look at WRITER'S MARKET.  Heed their advice.  Don't hope for
miracles.


If you try to get an agent, you should at least have some idea
how to put together a script (and WRITER'S MARKET really is not
an adequate tool for learning the appropriate skills, but it's
better than nothing).

They are part of the special sound effects that are used to
emphasise certain actions.  It seems that they are used way too
much in some episodes, but hey that's just my opinion.  (Original
FAQ.)  The sound effects and the basically bloodless fight scenes
have caused some people to describe the production as a
"mythology meets Hong Kong" mix.


The sound effects are sometimes used to enhance the campiness of
the show.  The "Imperial Tie Fighter" sound is often used when an
arrow is fired at one of the main actors.

Is there a Xena soundtrack CD?

There are currently 4 Xena soundtrack CD's.  CD#1 was Released
November 19, 1996. CD#2 was Released November 19, 1997.  A 3rd CD
with the music from the musical episode in Season 3 "Bitter
Suite" was released on March 24 1998.  This was followed on June
1st 1999, with CD#4.  All 4 titles are available on CD only.


There is also a Hercules/Xena CD-ROM by Software Sculptors. You
may see references to this product.  It is NOT one of the
soundtracks.


It's been reported that a CD by the Bulgarian Women's Choir has
chants which sound very much like the Xena chants.  Joseph Lo
Duca (the musical director for H:TLJ and X:WP) has reportedly
denied any direct connection with that collection.

what was presented (presumably taken from the CD).  This music is

Why weren't "M'lila's Song" and "Bacchae Rap" on the Xena CD #2?

The problem with both of these songs is that Jo LoDuca DIDN'T
write them. And therefore he didn't have the copyright on them.
So when it came to preparing the CD. Varesse Sarabande used
songs/tracks that were not to difficult for them to use, or
obtain permission to use.


As all the tracks on the 2nd CD are written by Jo himself
obtaining permission from him is easy. When you attempt to get
permission from a third party band, you get into contract
negotiations, and this would have delayed the 2nd CD's arrival.
So rather than this Varesse Sarabande dropped those two songs.


For those people disappointed that the M'lila song wasn't on the
CD it has been reported that M'lila's song is actually on another
CD.


Kaboom <[e-mail]>, writes "The CD in question, is called
Mouth Music by the group, Mouth Music.  It's apparently on the
Rykodisc label.  Catalogue # RCD 10196.  M'lila's song is track
#10, and is actually called Fraoch a Ronaigh.  And on the CD is
sung by Talitha Mackensie."


"Fraoch a Ronaigh"'s English title is "Heather of Rona".  And is
3:15 minutes long. It says this on the inside by the song: The
song describes several points on the island of North Uist, which
could be used as landmarks by sailors passing along the west
coast.

Most people will have noticed that not all the actors did their
own singing during the episode "Bitter Suite".  Lucy Lawless,
Kevin Smith, and Ted Raimi all sung their own parts.  However
Renee's part was sung by Susan Wood. And Hudson's parts was sung
by Michelle Nicastro.  Not so widely known is that the part of
Hatred in "Hate Is The Star" was sung by Phil Marcus Esser.

I can't find any Xena trading cards... what's up?

You should be able to find Xena Trading Cards now.  Topps has
released three sets of Xena trading cards, the first was in Feb
98.  This was a set of 72 Basic cards. 6 Foil cards (Odds 1 card
in 12 packs) and 2 Chromium cards (Odds 1 card in 36 packs).  The
Promo card for the first set was inserted into the Feb 98 issue
of Previews Magazine and April/May issue of Non-Sports Update.


Topps released a 2nd series of Xena trading cards during Sept 98.
Set composition was 72 basic cards. 6 Chromium cards (Odds 1 card
in 12 packs) and also 12 different Autograph cards (Odds 1 card
in 36 packs), The autograph cards did not include those of either
Lucy or Renee.


A third set of cards was released by Topps in June 99.  Set
composition was 72 basic cards. 9 Clear Chromes (Odds 1 card in 9
packs) and 2 Double Sided Chromes (Odds 1 card in 18 packs).


There are also the Xena related cards contained in the complete
set of HERCULES: THE LEGENDARY JOURNEYS trading cards.

Are there any official Xena comics or magazines?

There are in fact numerous Xena comics.  Originally produced by
Topps Inc.  Dark Horse Comics have now taken over production,
with their first issue appearing in late September 1999


The official Xena Magazine, was also originally produced by Topps
Inc.  Production of the Official Magazine is now handled by Titan
Magazines [e-mail].  The first issue of the (now
monthly) Titan Magazine hit UK shelves on the 6th of October.


For fans interested in getting the Magazine via subscription the

Due to the ever increasing popularity of the show, it has become
impossible for the FAQ to remain current with all of the
merchandise.  If you are looking for merchandise, try the XENA
ONLINE RESOURCES website (http://www.xenite.org/xenaonln.htm) for
more information.  There is an entire section of XOR devoted to
connecting Xena fans with merchants.

Without telling us where you are, it's a little difficult, to
tell you when local stations are showing Xena.  If you are in the
US/Canada, you are far better off going to
(http://www.clicktv.com) or (http://www.tvguide.com)  Both sites
enable you to enter your Zipcode (US/Canada only).  And then tell
you when Xena is on locally.  If you don't live in the US/Canada,
please tell us where you are, and someone should be able to
answer you.

The original FAQ was written by Ted Turocy ([e-mail]) and
K. Wieczerza -- a.k.a. "Kicker" ([e-mail]).  Kicker
maintained the original FAQ on her web site,
http://www.telalink.net/~wieczek/Xwpfaq.html, which now says
something like:  NOTE: This FAQ (by Kicker) has been turned over
to the people at WHOOSH!  The new URL is
http://whoosh.org/faq/index.html.  This version of the FAQ has
been written and formatted specifically for distribution on the
Usenet.


Why are these documents is so long?  I don't know, except we're
quite involved with the show and believe in what we do or some
such thing :-)
