  151.   Besides rec.nude, there is:

  153.   o  alt.nudism.moderated, established in 1999 in response to growing issues
  154.      of off topic postings and "flaming" in rec.nude.  This newsgroup may 
  155.      not be on all news servers as yet but a request to your news 
  156.      administrator may bring results.  Make sure you explain that it is a 
  157.      "moderated" newsgroup.
  158.  
  159.   o  uk.rec.naturist, for discussions of topics pertinent to naturism in
  160.      Great Britain.
  161.  
  162.   o  aus.culture.naturist for discussion pertinent to naturism in
  163.      Australia and New Zealand.
  164.  
  165.   o  nl.naturisme, for discussions (in Dutch) of topics pertinent to
  166.      naturism in the Netherlands.
  167.  
  168.   o  es.rec.naturismo, for discussions (in Spanish) of topics pertinent
  169.      to naturism in Spain.
  170.  
  171.   o  alt.christnet.nudism, for discussions amongst Christian naturists.

  173.   o  alt.cult.nudism, which exists for no purpose evident to me (and
  174.      gets very little traffic of note, anyway.)

  176.   o  Regional newsgroups that are specific to a particular geography are 
  177.      always being added to the choice of Usenet styled newsgroups.  Running 
  178.      a search on the available "Full Group List" from your internet service 
  179.      provider may turn up one of these groups in your area.  Recommended 
  180.      search terms include "naturist", "naturism", and "nudist" or "nudism", 
  181.      although you may turn up some newsgroups with questionable agendas in 
  182.      doing so.  A discerning eye will find the right newsgroup.
  183.  
  184.   In those instances when a newsgroup is not available or a request is 
  185.   refused by a news administrator, a good source for locating newsgroup 
  186.   material is the free service at <http://www.google.com/> Google.com
  187.   With any web browser you can search this service by keyword and topic
  188.   and view newsgroup postings from both current and archival material.
  189.  
  190.   Note that the group "alt.binaries.pictures.nudism" is not considered a 
  191.   naturist group, but is (like most of the alt.binaries.pictures.* groups) 
  192.   chiefly an outlet for pornography of various types. This group was not 
  193.   created by naturists (or nudists), and most rec.nude readers want 
  194.   nothing to do with it. Due to problems with illegal material or 
  195.   copyright violations of photo authors some servers do not carry this 
  196.   newsgroup (such as AOL and CompuServe). Various other "nudism" groups
  197.   exist for purposes of binary (image) posting that are generally not
  198.   supported by most on-line nudists due to association with soft or
  199.   hard porn.

  201.   3.  Mailing Lists
  202.  
  203.   Some mailing lists relevant to naturism:

  205.   o  The CO Digest, one of the oldest mailing lists on the net for
  206.      naturist information, news and discussion. Moderated by John Hendry
  207.      <mailto:codigest@codigest.org>, and distributed as an irregularly-
  208.      mailed digest (usually on the order of two to three issues a month.)

  212.   o  Cybernude Chat, Sponsored by CyberNude <http://www.cybernude.com/>

  217.      a web-based chat system.  Based in Ontario, Canada but with interest
  218.      to a global market.

  231.   4. Point-to-point Live Communications
  232.   4a.  Internet Relay Chat (IRC)

  234.   Naturists gather in several channels on several different IRC
  235.   networks. Due to the transient nature of IRC channels, a list is not
  236.   possible. Look for channels named #nudists, #nudism, #naturists, etc.

  238.   4b.  Instant Messaging.
  239.  
  240.   Instant messaging is available from various providers. AIM (AOL Instant
  241.   Messenger which links to all other AIM users and AOL's Buddy List for
  242.   AOL account holders), MSN Messenger (links only within MSN) and Yahoo
  243.   Messenger (Links to only other users of Yahoo Messenger). Programs allow
  244.   users to direct-communicate with your acquaintences when they are
  245.   on-line.

  247.   5.  Online services (AOL, CompuServe, etc.)
  248.  
  249.   Updates from those who are on these services is always appreciated.
  250.  
  251.   o  America Online: System-wide reorganization of topical material has taken
  252.      place on AOL.  In 1999 older nudist interactive message boards which 
  253.      were only accessible by specific internal AOL link were closed.  
  254.      The present supported naturist/nudist message board inside AOL is one 
  255.      located under the Travel Channel.  The link from the opening screen 
  256.      is:  CHANNELS>TRAVEL>TRAVEL MESSAGE BOARDS>BEST BEACHES & WATER 
  257.      RESORTS>NUDE BEACHES

  259.      The direct AOL link that can be used in the Favorite Places Menu is:

  262.      As of September 1999 we are pleased to note that this area is well 
  263.      accepted and even maintains reference links to both The Naturist 
  264.      Society (TNS) and American Association for Nude Recreation (AANR).

  266.      Information on chat rooms for naturists / nudists is pending.  A good
  267.      place to start asking is this message board.
  268.  
  269.   o  CompuServe: Nudist area closed in 2000 when system was revamped.
  270.  
  271.   o  Delphi: The Online Naturist Club, hosted by Michael Corbin, is
  272.      located at CUSTOM 13.  Weekly chat sessions are scheduled
  273.      and are accessible to subscribers.
  274.  
  275.   o  UPDATE 8/2003:  Prodigy announced the closure of its message boards
  276.      to be effective in October 2003.  The moderator has set up an alternate
  277.      location at Yahoo Groups (tm) http://groups.yahoo.com/group/P_N_R

  279.   6. Bulletin Board Services (BBS)
  280.  
  281.      With the proliferation of Usenet and the web private BBS services and
  282.      other services such as FIDO echos are quickly becoming a thing of the
  283.      past.  Persons hosting or having knowledge of BBS systems dedicated
  284.      to the nudist/naturist option are welcome to contribute that information
  285.      for inclusion in this FAQ.
