  67. * QUALIFICATION BY PROVIDING PRIOR EVIDENCE.
  68.  
  69.   Applicants must supply evidence of intelligence test scores in the top 2%
  70.   of the population, or arrange to have it sent. All documentation will be
  71.   returned. Notarized photostatic copies of original documents are usually
  72.   acceptable.

  100.     Psychologists,  e.g.:  Henmon-Nelson,  NY  State  Regents   Scholarship
  101.     Test(Aptitude section only), Cattell  Culture Fair, SRA Primary  Mental
  102.     Abilities.

  104.     # Note: The term "IQ score" is used as a convenient, easily  understood
  105.       reference.  Candidates for membership in  Mensa must achieve a  score
  106.       at or above the 98th percentile  on a standard test of  intelligence.
  107.       The "IQ Score" varies from test to test, as shown by the list above.
  108.  
  109.     Mensa reserves the right  to alter or change  these norms as the  tests
  110.     shown are renormed or restandardized.  All prior evidence submitted  to
  111.     Mensa will be appraised  individually and Mensa  reserves the right  to
  112.     make the final determination about the acceptability of any test.

  114.   * TO OBTAIN PRIOR EVIDENCE:
  115.  
  116.     * I.Q. TESTS GIVEN IN ELEMENTARY OR HIGH SCHOOLS.
  117.       Write to the  school you attended,  and ask for  a CERTIFIED copy  of
  118.       your score.  It must include your birth date, the grade in which  you
  119.       took the test, the  name of the test,  and a clearly defined  number,
  120.       i.e., IQ,  or  percentile  rank nationally.  Mensa  does  not  accept
  121.       achievement tests. School seal must be stamped.

  123.     * ARMY, NAVY, AIR FORCE, OR MARINE SCORES
  124.       A certified copy of your records, which you may have, or a copy  from
  125.       Demobilized Records  Branch, St.  Louis,  MO. Unfortunately,  a  fire
  126.       there destroyed many records some years ago.
  127.  
  128.       * MEMO ON MILITARY SCORES
  129.         The only scores that Mensa can accept are: the AGCT scores from the
  130.         Army - before the use of the ASVAB, and the GT scores from the Navy
  131.         - also prior to the  use of the ASVAB.  The new military tests  are
  132.         vocational aptitude tests and are not suitable for Mensa admission.
  133.         Mensa has been asked specifically not to use them for this purpose.
  134.         This is unfortunate, but  communication with the government  agency
  135.         with the government agency that makes  up  and  distributes  the
  136.         tests  (ASVAB)  indicates  clearly  that they are unsuitable for
  137.         Mensa purposes.
  138.  
  139.     * INDIVIDUAL TESTING DONE BY A PSYCHOLOGIST, OR AGENCY.
  140.       The report must be sent to Mensa on professional letterhead, with the
  141.       psychologist's or  agency's  license or  registration  number.  Mensa
  142.       accepts only  tests given  by those  people qualified  to do  testing
  143.       privately in the state in which  the examiner resides. Date of  test,
  144.       name of test, and full  score must be given,  and the report must  be
  145.       signed.

  147.     * MILLER ANALOGIES TEST (MAT)

  151. * QUALIFICATION THROUGH MENSA TESTING
  152.  
  153.   If you're not  sure whether you're  Mensa material,  simply complete  the
  154.   application below, and return it with your check or money order for  $12.
  155.   Mensa will send you a pretest you can  take in the privacy of your  home.
  156.   When you've finished it, send  it back to Mensa.  It will be scored,  and
  157.   you will be notified of the results. If your score indicates an IQ at  or
  158.   above the  95th percentile,  you'll be  invited  to take  the  qualifying
  159.   supervised test#,  which  costs  $25.   (Although  the  pre-test  is  not
  160.   required for  admission,  many  people take  it  anyway  simply  for  the
  161.   challenge.)

  163.   If you prefer, you may apply directly to take the supervised test at one
  164.   of many locations convenient to you. If your score on that test is at or
  165.   above the 98th percentile, you'll be offered membership in Mensa.
