  89.     articles shall be reposted and X-posted to alt.magick.tyagi 
  90.     in order to fertilize synthesis and create an educational 
  91.     archive/consortium for the study of magick, mysticism and 
  92.     associated subjects of meta-knowledge (the mysteries). it
  93.     shall also include derived discussion which grows in 
  94.     response to such a fertilization and consortium.

  98.     alt.magick.tyagi (AMT) is the synthesis of meta-knowledge
  99.     in the fields of magick and mysticism within the usenet 
  100.     internet forum structure:

  110.     meta-knowledge within the fields of magick and mysticism.

  112.     it, without restriction, integrating the various disciplines
  113.     and weaving a web of vivifying communication amongst a 
  114.     diversity of global cultures. it is an attempt to utilize 
  115.     usenet as a thinktank and reference engine.

  120.     this group shall be used as a REposting site for articles,
  121.     found in the various internet archives, of interest to mages
  122.     and mystics, including other newsgroups like alt.lucky.w, 
  123.     other alt.magick.* newsgroups, alt.pagan.magick, 
  124.     alt.paranormal.spells.hexes.magic, alt.religion.*, 
  125.     alt.satanism.*, alt.*.zen, soc.religion.*, talk.religion.*, 
  126.     and any other religious, magical, mystical or miscellaneous 
  127.     newsgroup which qualifies.

  129.     AMT shall also carry subsequent exchanges of threads which
  130.     are of particular interest to esotericists, tied together via
  131.     REpost and Xpost so as to ease access to the working, eclectic
  132.     magical/mystical student.

  135.     complicated conversations, philosophical exchanges, regarding
  136.     magick, mysticism and associated subjects that often annoy regular 
  137.     readers of the normal alt.magick.*, psychology, mysticism or 
  138.     religious groups, yet serve the interests of dedicated specialists.

  141. 03 Posting Rules
  142.     there shall be no restrictions as to *who* is allowed to post
  143.     to the group and yet the group's parameters are clearly stated
  144.     herein.

  146.     AMT can be used for this purpose, exposing the commonality
  147.     of subjects and patterns within them to the many readers who
  148.     will almost certainly prove amateur in all.
  149.  
  150.     overall, post in a manner which serves the Purpose (02) of the
  151.     newsgroup. AMT was created to address a specific need. posts 
  152.     made to it should generally be of three types:

  154.     1) REPOSTS
  155.     these should be the most common seed fodder. their function
  156.     is to make accessible articles from other internet forums 
  157.     which could be of interest to mages who don't have the time 
  158.     or incentive to read *every* group which is relevant to their
  159.     field. they can also be used to expose the post to newsgroups
  160.     which were pertinent but not originally within the header.
  161.     Followups to all relevant forums are fruitfully specified.

  163.     2) XPOSTING
  164.     these should used subtlely to join disparate disciplines
  165.     when contributing articles which apply to their intersection
  166.     or when a particular post within any newsgroup would likely
  167.     be of interest to those whose studies include the subject of
  168.     magick or mysticism.

  170.     3) DISCUSSION
  171.     discussion subsequent to posted articles should be less common
  172.     and determined by interest and quality of the posts to which
  173.     response is given. humor and quips should be minimized, or
  174.     utilized to effectively place in contrast the overseriousness
  175.     of the author to whom one replies.

  197.              "alt.magick.tyagi" and any other applicable

  199.          use the address given in the automatic

  235.     alt.magick.tyagi lies fallow or burgeons with ripe cyberfruits
  236.     dependent entirely upon the dedication of the few.

  238.     through the REposting and Xposting procedure (detailed above) 
  239.     many specialists within diverse fields of meta-knowledge are 
  240.     brought together into one forum allowing us to envision our 
  241.     commonalities. it thus makes possible a networking function 
  242.     which would otherwise not be possible, whilst the group itself 
  243.     serves as an outlet for a sometimes verbose and syncretic type 
  244.     of communication.

  249.     by far the bulk of traffic within the alt.magick.* newsgroups
  250.     occurs in the original group (alt.magick).

  252.     alt.magick.chaos is a forum which often contains posts and 
  253.     discussion on chaos and chaos magick as understood by its 
  254.     regular posters.

  256.     alt.magick.tantra was started as an alternative to the glutted
  257.     alt.magick.sex, and includes posts regarding tantra, taoist
  258.     sexual alchemy and sex magick.

  260.     alt.magick.order and alt.magick.ethics were created in
  261.     frustration at the volume and noise/signal ratio within
  262.     alt.magick, and are being utilized to divide up the various
  263.     areas of interest that collide in the hub group.

  266.     to the alt.magick and alt.pagan newsgroups which place focus
  267.     upon the more religious aspects of magick.

  281. 06 Terminology
  282.     the word 'tyagi' is Sanskrit (East Indian) and can be
  283.     literally translated as 'monk' or 'one who renounces (or 
  284.     sacrifices) all'. in this way the newsgroup name symbolizes
  285.     the fusion of magick and mysticism through the combination
  286.     of terms, and provides a kind of arena in which writings of
  287.     a decidedly esoteric nature may be drawn together, compared,
  288.     contrasted and fused into a cybernetic Hieros Gamos.
