  22. Chapter 3. Educational Institutions.

  24. This chapter describes law-related resources made available by US 
  25. educational institutions. An organization in this chapter would most 
  26. likely have a domain name ending in .edu (education). This chapter is 
  27. divided into two sub-sections: 1) US law schools, 2) other US 
  28. educational institutions.
  29.  
  30. One of the best ways to find the e-mail address for a particular 
  31. individual is to call that individual. If you choose to contact the 
  32. individuals listed below via e-mail, please keep your e-mail message 
  33. short and to-the-point.
  34.  
  35. 3.1.    Law Schools.
  36.  
  37. ABA-approved US and Puerto Rico law schools, with their Internet domain, 
  38. are listed below. Non-ABA-approved law schools that are on the Internet 
  39. are also listed. For schools that do not have an e-mail address listed, 
  40. information should be available via e-mail at postmaster@domain.name, 
  41. where domain.name is the domain shown below. For example, information 
  42. about Samford University should be available via e-mail from 
  43. postmaster@samford.edu. Some schools have made information available via 
  44. a generic e-mail address, usually in the form of info@law.domain.name, 
  45. which is set up to automatically reply to e-mail messages. I believe 
  46. that the use of this type of info e-mail address combined with a law 
  47. subdomain is a good idea, one that I hope to see catch on as a de facto 
  48. standard.

  50. Gopher main menus and sub-menus are shown for some of the more well-
  51. known law school Gopher sites. Note how the following law schools have 
  52. addressed some of the issues facing Gopher administrators in trying to 
  53. make their Gopher servers easily-accessible and user-friendly: Case 
  54. Western Reserve University (see Section 3.1.35.02) distinguishes, in 
  55. part, between those resources that are hosted locally (for which it is 
  56. primarily responsible) and links to resources hosted remotely (for which 
  57. it is not primarily responsible). Cornell University (see Section 
  58. 3.1.32.04) provides a means for giving feedback to the Gopher 
  59. administrators and groups its resources into several categories, 
  60. including US primary law, non-US law, and US administrative information. 
  61. Temple University (see Section 3.1.38.03) provides date and file size 
  62. information for its resources. Villanova University (see Section 
  63. 3.1.38.06) has perhaps the most readable main menu, provides a means for 
  64. giving feedback to the Gopher administrators, and groups its resources 
  65. into several categories, including US State Government information, US 
  66. Federal Government information, and European/Canadian Government 
  67. information. Note also how some Gopher servers (e.g. Chicago-Kent 
  68. College of Law, see Section 3.1.13.02) are accessible as top-level 
  69. servers at the University of Minnesota (and hence are easier to locate) 
  70. while others are several sub-menus lower in the hierarchy.
