  30. This document is posted periodically to various Desktop Publishing groups
  31. to remind readers of some of the resources available on the Internet for
  32. today's Desktop Publisher.

  45. recommended -- it supercedes this one and contains many more resources.

  47. Much of the force behind this compilation is the Bitnet listserv PAGEMAKR
  48. and thus, many of the documents have a slight slant towards PageMaker. 
  49. Several of the documents (such as the scanning FAQ), however, are 
  50. universal.

  52. Also FAQ stands for "Frequently Asked Questions" and is used to describe
  53. a document that answers some of the commonly asked questions on the 
  54. Internet about a specific subject.

  56. Some of the more popular files (and highly recommended) in the PageMaker 
  57. archive are list below. A description of how to access these files can
  58. be found at the end of this file.

  63.     BOOKS.FAQ     This file contains a list of recommended books and
  64.                   magazines for Desktop Publishers.

  66.     DTPTIPS.FAQ   This document has a number of suggestions and tips for
  67.                   Desktop Publishing in general.

  69.     FAQ.FAQ       This file is a comprehensive list of the most Frequently
  70.                   Asked Questions concerning PageMaker. It is also available
  71.           in a Windows Helpfile version and (soon) an HTML version.
  72.           This is quite a large collection and contains much 
  73.           information that is helpful for general Desktop 
  74.           Publishers. Strongly recommended!

  76.     PMTIPS.FAQ    Within this file is a list of tips for PageMaker users,
  77.                   including an extensive list of documented and undocumented
  78.                   keyboard shortcuts and assists.

  80.     SCANTIPS.FAQ  This excellent document created by Jeff Bone describes
  81.                   the ins and outs of scanning. Highly Recommended! A
  82.                   new HTML version of this document has just come out and
  83.                   is a must stop on the infobahn... ;-) (See W3 section below)

  97.                   from the PageMaker list. This includes some short, fun
  98.                   postscript "programs" and information on Applelink.
  99.     PM_FILLS.TXT  An addendum by Olav Martin Kvern to his article in Aldus
  100.                   Magazine about how to create your own fill patterns.
  101.     PM5_DESC.TXT  Description of PageMaker 5.0.
  102.     PM5A_INF.TXT  Description of PageMaker 5.0a patch version.
  103.     PM5PRINT.FAQ  A FAQ on printing problems associated with PageMaker 5.0.
  104.     PM6_WISH.TXT  This is a wish list of features for upcoming versions of
  105.                   PageMaker. It was conducted along with the survey of 1994.
  106.     PMFAQHLP.ZIP  This is a special hypertexted version of the PageMaker FAQ
  107.                   using Microsoft's Help File Format. Just decompress the
  108.                   file and add it to your Windows Shell for instant, access
  109.                   to the PageMaker FAQ.

  111.     SCANTIP2.FAQ  Misc. stuff concerning the Scanning FAQ.
  112.     SURVEY1.TXT   The results of the first PageMaker Listserv survey
  113.                   conducted in the Fall of 1992.

  115.                   in the summer of 1994.
  116.     SYLLABUS.FAQ  A sample syllabus for teaching PageMaker.

  128. As you probably know, there are a number of tools available for the Internet 
  129. user. Some that can be used to access the previously mentioned DTP files

  134.     All of the files listed above can be downloaded via anonymous FTP at 
  135.     the site ftp.dopig.uab.edu in the info/pagemakr/faq directory area. 
  136.     This is likely the most preferable method for obtaining the documents.

  138.     wuarchive.wustl.edu in the doc/misc/pagemakr directory. If you have any
