  1. Files ending with the ".hqx" suffix must be decoded with the binhex.macbinary
  2. Utility available in this directory.

  4. INSTRUCTIONS TO DOWNLOAD THE BINHEX PROGRAM.

  6. Note that the BinHex program itself must be download with the MacBinary enabled.
  7. From the File menu, select MacBinary Enabled.  You are ready to download the
  8. binhex.macbinary program.

  10. INSTRUCTIONS TO DOWNLOAD BINARY FILES.

  12. If you are trying to download a binary file, then you must turn the binary 
  13. enable on.  This is done by typing in "bin" while you are in the ftp mode,
  14. otherwise you will only be able to download ascii files.  You type "ascii" to 
  15. get back to the ascii mode.

  18. INSTRUCTION TO DECODE A FILE.

  20. To decode a file with the ".hqx" extension (a BinHexed file):
  21.  
  22.    1. Download the file to your Macintosh.
  23.    2. Start the application BinHex by double-clicking on it.
  24.    3. From the "File" menu in BinHex, choose "UpLoad -> Application".
  25.    4. Choose the ".hqx" file to be decoded and select "Open".
  26.    5. The suggested file name will appear in a dialog box.
  27.    6. Select "Save" to decode the file.

  29. To uncompress a file with the ".sit" extension, take a look at the Tutorial
  30. available in this directory.
