  54. Complete Emulated System List
  55. =============================
  56. Here is the list of systems supported by MESS 0.37 BETA 5 (Aug  3 2000)
  57.  
  58. The meanings of the columns are as follows:
  59. Working - "No" means that the emulation has shortcomings that cause the system
  60.   not to work correctly. This can be anywhere from just showing a black screen
  61.   to not being playable with major problems.
  62. Correct Colors - "Yes" means that colors should be identical to the original,
  63.   "Close" that they are very similar but wrong in places, "No" that they are
  64.   completely wrong. 
  65. Sound - "Partial" means that sound support is either incomplete or not entirely
  66.   accurate. 
  67. Internal Name - This is the unique name that should be specified on the command
  68.   line to run the system. ROMs must be placed in the ROM path, either in a .zip
  69.   file or in a subdirectory of the same name. The former is suggested, because
  70.   the files will be identified by their CRC instead of requiring specific
  71.   names.  NOTE! that as well as required ROM files to emulate the system, you may
  72.   also attach IMAGES of files created for system specific devices (some examples of 
  73.   devices are cartridges, floppydisks, harddisks, etc).  See below for a complete list
  74.   of a systems supported devices and common file formats used for that device
  75.  
  76. System Information can be obtained from the SysInfo.dat file (online in the MESS UI
  77. from the Machine history) or sysinfo.htm.  To generate sysinfo.htm, execute 
  78. dat2html.exe.

  268. QUICK MESS USAGE GUIDE!
  269. =======================
  270. In order to use MESS, you must at least specify at the command line
  271.  
  272.       MESS <system>
  273.  
  274. This will emulate the system requested.  Note that most systems require ROMS for
  275. emulation.  These system ROM files are copyright and ARE NOT supplied with MESS.
  276.  
  277. To use files created for the system emulated (IMAGES), MESS works by attaching an image
  278. of the file created for the particular device of that system, for example, a cartridge,
  279. floppydisk, harddisk, cassette, image etc.  Therefore, in order to attach an image to the
  280. system, you must specify at the command line:
  281.  
  282.       MESS <system> <device> <image_name>
  283.  
  284. To manually manipulate the emulation options, you must specify:
  285.  
  286.       MESS <system> <device> <image_name> <options>
  287.  
  288. *For a complete list of systems emulated,  use: MESS -listfull
  289. *For system files (ROMS) required by each system, use: MESS <system> -listroms

  293. Make sure you have ROMS and IMAGES in a subdirectory from your ROMPATH
  294. with the same name as the system (eg ROMS/COLECO)
