This package contains software needed to install the Adaptec AHA-2920/A
SCSI Host Bus Adapter with OS/2. These files include:
o AHA2920.DDP Instructions for OS/2 DDINSTAL program
o AHA2920.ADD Adaptec AHA-2920 SCSI Host Bus Adapter Driver v1.2
o README.1ST This file.
The following changes were made:
o Removed detection for all Future Domain 16-bit controllers.
The AHA2920.ADD driver will now only detect the Adaptec AHA-2920/A
PCI SCSI adapter, formerly known as the Future Domain TMC-3260
PCI SCSI adapter.
NOTE: The FD16-700.ADD driver will continue to support
the Future Domain 16-bit controllers.
Installing the Adaptec AHA2920.ADD from the OS/2 Diskette 1 (NEW INSTALLATION)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Make a backup copy of your OS/2 Diskette 1.
2. Copy the AHA2920.ADD device driver to the backup copy of
Diskette 1. (If there is not enough space on Diskette 1,
you may delete CDINST.EXE and README.INS.)
3. Edit the CONFIG.SYS file on the backup copy of Diskette 1
and add the following statements:
SET COPYFROMFLOPPY=1
BASEDEV=AHA2920.ADD
4. Start the installation with the Installation Diskette.
5. When you are prompted for Diskette 1, use the diskette
you created in step 1.
NOTE: There will be no SCSI Adapter listed in the System
Configuration screen for the AHA-2920/A adapter.
6. The AHA2920.ADD will be copied to the root directory of
your OS/2 boot directory. If you wish, you may move the
AHA2920.ADD file to the \OS2\BOOT directory with the other
.ADD drivers.
Installing the Adaptec AHA2920.ADD after installation (DRIVER UPGRADE)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
To install the Adaptec AHA-2920 SCSI Host Adapter Driver after initial
installation, follow these instructions:
1. Copy the AHA2920.DDP and AHA2920.ADD files to a diskette
and label it "Adaptec AHA-2920 SCSI Host Adapter Driver
Diskette for OS/2".
2. Place the diskette created in step 1 into your diskette drive.
3. From the OS/2 System, select "OS/2 SYSTEM", "SYSTEM SETUP",
"INSTALL/REMOVE", then "DEVICE DRIVER INSTALL".
4. At the OS/2 Device Driver Installation screen, verify the
source and destination and click "INSTALL".
5. At the Select Device Drivers screen you will see:
o "Adaptec AHA-2920/A Adapter Device Driver"
Select it and click "OK".
6. When you return to the OS/2 Device Driver Installation screen,
click "EXIT" and follow the instructions on the screen.
7. The new AHA2920.ADD was automatically copied to the
\OS2\BOOT directory of your destination drive. If you
were previously using an older AHA2920.ADD driver and it
currently resides on the root of your OS/2 boot drive,
you must manually delete it now.
8. Remove the diskette from your diskette drive.
9. Shut down your system and reboot your machine via
Ctrl+Alt+Del to allow the changes to take effect.
