  10. Important - please read the following terms and conditions.

  12. Downloading the Service Fixes included in this collection indicates your
  13. acceptance of the following terms and conditions:
  14.  
  15.  
  16. 1.  You must be, and agree that you are, a current licensee of OS/2
  17.     Warp 3/4.
  18. 2.  You may make copies of the OS/2 Service Fixes equal to the number
  19.     of licensed copies of OS/2 Warp 3/4.
  20. 3.  You may only use the OS/2 Warp 3/4 Service Fixes included with
  21.     this collection for maintenance purposes.
  22. 4.  All other terms and conditions of your OS/2 Warp 3/4 license
  23.     agreements apply to the Service Fixes; however, this does not
  24.     extend any warranty and/or services, including but not limited to
  25.     the "Initial Installation" period, outlined in such agreements.

  27. Note: OS/2 Warp 3/4 means OS/2 Warp 3 or OS/2 Warp 4.

  29. Collection of fixes for resolving Installation problems
  30. -------------------------------------------------------
  31.  
  32. This zip file is a collection of fixes for problems that occur during install.
  33. The intent of this collection is to allow system administrators to manually
  34. update portions of their CID install trees with corrected install modules.
  35.  
  36. Download to a separate (empty) directory and expand using PKUNZIP or UNZIP.
  37. Use the -d flag to expand the directory structure stored in the zipfile.
  38.  
  39. Fixes are organized by release. V3 contains fixes for Warp 3.0 based products.
  40. V4 contains fixes for Warp 4.0. Within the respective version directory, the
  41. fixes are named with the APAR that identified the problem.
  42.  
  43. Within each APAR directory, a readme identifies the procedure to be used to
  44. apply that fix.
  45.

  47. The HINTS directory
  48. -------------------
  49.  
  50. The HINTS directory contains additional documentation to help you resolve
  51. installation problems. The files are:
  52.  
  53. CDROM_IN.LST   - Workarounds and tips for getting Warp 4 installed on your
  54.                  system. Printable at 60 lines/page.
  55.  
  56. CDROM_IN.HTM   - WWW Browser version of the above.
  57.  
  58. CID_INFO.LST   - Instructions for CID migration to Warp 4.
  59.                  Printable at 60 lines/page.

  61. CID_INFO.HTM   - WWW Browser version of the above.

  63. To look at the WWW Browser version of these files, start (*) Web Explorer or
  64. (**) Netscape Navigator for OS/2 then use the File -> Open dialog to point to
  65. the .HTM file you want to review.

  76.  CONFIG.SYS ERROR WHEN INSTALLING OS/2 WARP V4 OVER OS/2 WARP V4

  78.  Installing Warp 4 over Warp 4 the file MMOS2\VCSHDD.SYS is being deleted
  79.  and when you boot the system after installation finished, the following error
  80.  message is being displayed:

  82.  SYS1718: The system cannot find the file c:\mmos2\vcshdd.sys specified in the
  83.  Device statement on line xx of config.sys

  90.  More button then click on Automatic Configuration and Advanced Configuration
  91.  back and forth a couple of times, the check marks for OpenDoc and Voicetype

  96.  MERLIN WINOS/2 GDI.EXE PROBLEM WITH THINKPAD USES WDC24 CHIP SET

  98.  IBM ThinkPads using the WDC24 chip set, when installing Warp 4, and set
  99.  resolution to 800x600x256 then reboot and try to load WinOS/2, Customers see
  100.  that GDI.EXE could not be loaded.

  104.  BAD MSG IN WINOS2 NETWARE INSTALL. MISSING IPX.OBJ IN V4 CD.

  106.  When a user installs Netware support under WINOS2 in Warp 4.0, an incomplete
  107.  dialog box appears titled "WIN-OS/2 Setup" that prompts the customer to
  108.  "Please insert the ." instead of "Please insert the Disk # xx". The
  109.  installation program at this point is attempting to install the file IPX.OBJ.

  113.  WIN/OS2 DLL FILES NETAPI.DLL AND PMSPL.DLL ARE MISSING

  115.  Enter WINOS2 setup to setup the 'Network Awareness' for a session fails.
  116.  
  117.  Customer gives the path as X:OS2IMAGE\DISK_W2 and is then asked for DISK_W5.
  118.  The next message is to insert disk "." (a period: no name, nothing else).
  119.  There is a screen in back that indicates it is looking for NETAPI.DLL and
  120.  PMSPL.DLL.le

  123.  MISSING FILE(S) DURING THE CID INSTALL CAUSE SOME CM2 OR PCCOM
  124.  ICONS FROM ITS FOLDER TO DISAPPEAR AFTER REBOOT.

  126.  The file LFAPI.DLL is missing in CID environment because SYSMGT component is
  127.  not installed (CLIFI.EXE). This causes icons of OS2PEER not to be built if
  128.  OS2PEER is installed after COM/2 or PCOM/2.

  131.  WARP V4 FAILS TO INSTALL A HP DESKJET 500C PRINT DRIVER FOR
  132.  WINOS2

  134.  With WARP 4 you cannot install a HP ***DeskJet 500C print driver for WINOS2.
  135.  The \OS2\MDOS\WINOS2\SYSTEM\CONTROL.INF file has an incorrect entry of
  136.  disk Z: for the print driver. A search of Print Driver diskettes fails to
  137.  find the driver.

  139.  Fix is to obtain the driver directly from HP.
