Oh so you've discovered this little text file.
I just put this is in for the more inquisitive of you, so here are some
techinical details about this disc.
The loader is a program called VIEWER, which opens an intuition window and
feeds the file GOLDENEAGLE (an RAW H/B picture) directly in the bitplanes
using DOS libraries. However to make this look a little more convincing the
system-configuration is set so that all the colours are black, and it also
deletes the pointer. The rest is done by just a startup sequence.
The INTRO (by Frantik), well... I think we'll keep that a secret, but that
shouldn't be too difficult to work out how its done.
The MAIN PART (by me) is uncrunched about 300K, and so titanics cruncher was
used, as no other cruncher could handle this, plus the fact the loader takes
up a good 60K leaving your bog standard A500 about 120K for decrunching.
All the effects are calculated in real time, and there are three physical
screens in the memory (all 5 bitplane) - one main one, and two backup
screens containing the picture/text. The font for the proportional font
scroller was nicked from a DPAINT font (Ruby 15), the music is a 120K module
written in NoiseTraker 1.2. So there was 120K music, 150K Gfx, 5K misc and
25K code...from a 50K source - and in assembling it I have buggered up
about 7 discs...due to stress on the discs + bloody viruses.
The CREDIT PART (by me) is 200K large, and is crunched using Power Packer
(why not?) and uses 5bitplane animation, using 5 different faces
(4bitplanes) and 2 masks, plus two foot tapping frames, also with another
120K module also written in NoiseTraker called DancetillDeath. It uses its
own RESET routine at the end, though this basically "supported" code.
The CREDIT PART took 5 hours to put together, the INTRO a few days, and the
MAIN PART about a month (on and off)..suprisingly quickly for us!
I'm always looking for contacts, so if you're interested in swapping new
demos then write to:-
Thomas Szirtes
20 Old Park Road
Hitchin
Herts SG52JR. or phone 0462-457514 (and ask for Tom)
England
The next release will be an acid-type-video demo (probably mainly by
Frantik) together with a rather impressive "Journey" demo by yours truely.
Keep the faith!
See ya,
PROPHET of GOLDFIRE
