WELCOME TO BOWL! VERSION 2.0
----------------------------
THIS VERSION WAS COMPLETED ON 26th OCTOBER 1990 AND HAS HAD ALL MAJOR BUGS
REMOVED (I THINK). THE MAIN DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THIS AND EARLIER VERSIONS
ARE AS FOLLOWS.
1/ THIS VERSION REQUIRES TWO DISK DRIVES AS DATA IS STORED
ON A SEPARATE DATA-DISK WHICH IS CREATED BY BOWL! V2.0.
2/ FAR MORE GAMES CAN BE SAVED THAN ON V1.1 (400% MORE).
3/ SYSTEM SPECIFICATION FOR No. OF TEAMS, AND HANDICAP FORMULA
CAN NOW BE AMENDED.
4/ MORE ERROR HANDLING INTRODUCED.
5/ DATA-DISK CAPACITY CAN BE DISPLAYED THROUGH STATUS REPORT
6/ ALL REPORTED BUGS HAVE BEEN FIXED (AND BOY WERE THERE SOME)
BOWL! VERSION 2.0 PD STATUS
---------------------------
BOWL! V2.0 IS SWAPWARE, THIS MEANS IF YOU USE MY PROGRAM, PLEASE SEND ME A
CURRENT PIECE OF PD, OR MAYBE A PROGRAM YOU HAVE WRITTEN.
ALSO, PLEASE WRITE WITH ANY BUGS FOUND AND ADD THEM TO THIS DOCUMENT'S BUG
LIST.

OK ENOUGH BEGGING ON WITH THE DOCUMENTS
---------------------------------------
THE OPENING SCREEN OF BOWL! V2.0 APPEARS TO BE JUST A MESSAGE SCREEN BUT
IN FACT HIDES A BOWL! FILE RECOVERY PROGRAM. LET ME EXPLAIN, USERS OF
BOWL! CAN CHANGE THE NUMBER OF PLAYERS, GAMES PER PLAYER, AND TEAMS
ALLOWED ON THE SYSTEM WHICH ARE THEN SAVED FOR USE BY THE SYSTEM.
THE PROBLEM IS (PARTICULARLY 512K USERS) THAT THE HIGHER YOU SET THESE,
THE MORE MEMORY IS REQUIRED. SO IF YOU SET THEM TO HIGH THE SYSTEM WONT
LOAD. TO COUNTER THIS, WHENEVER YOU AMEND SPECIFICATIONS, A BACK-UP OF THE
LAST PARAMETERS IS TAKEN TO A FILE CALLED SPECBCK.FIL, AND THE CURRENT
DATA.FIL STATUS FLAG IS CHANGED FROM "OK" TO "??" (SEE STATUS REPORT).
ONCE THE DATA.FIL HAS PROVED IT CAN MOVE FROM MAIN MENU TO ANOTHER PART OF
THE PROGRAM (EG GAME ENTRY), IT'S "OK" STATUS IS RESTORED NO PROBLEM.
IF THIS LOAD FAILS, YOU CAN REBOOT, AND ON OPENING SCREEN (NOT PICTURE)
PRESS `DEL' KEY AND THE LAST SAVED SPECIFICATIONS WILL BE RESTORED.
IN LATER VERSIONS THIS WILL NOT BE NECESSARY AS MORE MEMORY MANAGEMENT WILL
BE IMPLEMENTED.
==========================================================================
MAIN MENU
---------
<L> DISPLAY LEAGUE TABLE
WILL DISPLAY THE LEAGUES AVERAGE, NUMBER OF LEAGUE GAMES THAT HAVE BEEN
PLAYED, AND NUMBER OF PLAYERS IN LEAGUE (PLAYERS WITH NO TEAM ALLOCATED
ARE IGNORED BY THIS OPTION), FOLLOWED BY THE LEAGUE TABLE BY TEAM.
A TEAM'S POSITION IN THE TABLE IS DETERMINED BY THE TEAM'S AVERAGE SCORE,
IF TWO OR MORE TEAMS HAVE THE SAME AVERAGE SCORE, THE TEAM THAT HAS PLAYED
THE MOST GAMES IS GIVEN A HIGHER POSITION. IF THE NUMBER OF GAMES PLAYED
IS ALSO THE SAME, THE SAME POSITION IS SHARED BY THE TEAMS.
THIS TABLE CAN BE PRINTED IF YOU HAVE A PRINTER AVAILABLE. AS WITH ALL
PRINT OPTIONS IN BOWL!, IF PRINT IS SELECTED WITHOUT A PRINTER PRESENT OR
WITH INCORRECT PREFERENCES, IT WILL TAKE QUITE A FEW SECONDS TO WORK THIS
OUT. DON'T BLAME ME, BLAME THE AMIGADOS ERROR SYSTEM.
==========================================================================
<T> DISPLAY TEAM TABLES
WILL ENABLE YOU TO SELECT THE TEAM YOU WISH TO DISPLAY/PRINT, ONCE
SELECTED, WILL SHOW SELECTED TEAM'S AVERAGE, HIGH SCORE, & POPULATION,
FOLLOWED BY A PLAYER TABLE FOR THAT TEAM RANKED IN ORDER OF AVERAGE SCORE
AND GAMES PLAYED. THERE IS AN OPTION TO PRINT THIS TABLE ALSO.
==========================================================================
<D> DISPLAY PLAYER TABLE
WILL DISPLAY A TABLE OF ALL PLAYERS WHO HAVE PLAYED A GAME RANKED IN
AVERAGE SCORE GAMES PLAYED ORDER (IRRESPECTIVE OF TEAM). PRINT AVAILABLE
==========================================================================
<G> DISPLAY PLAYER GAMES
WILL ENABLE YOU TO DISPLAY/PRINT AN INDIVIDUAL PLAYER'S ACTUAL GAMES.
SELECT THE PLAYER # REQUIRED FROM THE LIST AND ALL GAMES FOR THAT PLAYER
ARE DISPLAYED. PRESS <F> TO PAGE FORWARD THROUGH GAMES, & <B> TO PAGE
BACKWARDS THROUGH GAMES, <ESC> TO EXIT OPTION, OR <P> FOR THE PRINT GAMES
OPTIONS. YOU ARE GIVEN A CHOICE WHETHER TO PRINT ALL GAMES OR TO SELECT A
RANGE OF GAMES TO PRINT.
==========================================================================
<E> ENTER GAMES
ENTER GAMES NEEDS TO LOAD FROM DISK. SELECT PLAYER TO ENTER GAMES FOR AND
A SUMMARY OF THAT PLAYER WILL BE DISPLAYED. PRESS RETURN TO ENTER MORE
GAMES FOR THAT PLAYER. THE DATE OF A GAME MUST BE ENTERED IN THE STRICT
FORMAT DD-MMM-YY (EG 06-OCT-90) ONCE ONE DATE HAS BEEN ENTERED, FOR ANY
SUBSEQUENT GAME FOR THE SAME DATE YOU NEED ONLY PRESS RETURN AND THE LAST
DATE WILL BE RE-ENTERED.
NEXT ENTER THE SCORE FOR THE GAME TO BE ENTERED OR JUST PRESS RETURN TO
EXIT THIS OPTION. YOU CAN ENTER SEVERAL GAMES AT A TIME, JUST PRESS RETURN
AT THE "ENTER SCORE" PROMPT TO EXIT.
IF YOU HAVE ENTERED SOME GAMES, ONCE YOU EXIT GAMES ENTRY, YOU ARE GIVEN
THE OPPORTUNITY TO AMEND THE GAMES IF YOU HAVE ENTERED THEM WRONGLY, AND
THEN YOU ARE RETURNED TO THE LIST OF PLAYERS TO SELECT.
IF YOU HAVE NO MORE GAMES TO ENTER PRESS ESCAPE TO RETURN TO MAIN MENU,
RE-RANKING ALL PLAYERS IF NECESSARY.
==========================================================================
<C> CREATE, AMEND, DELETE
THIS OPTION NEEDS TO LOAD FROM DISK, AND IS THE MAIN PLAYER FILE
MAINTENANCE SUITE WITH FOUR SUB-OPTIONS.
<C> CREATE PLAYER
-----------------
CREATE PROMPTS YOU TO ENTER THE NAME FOR A NEW PLAYER TO BE CREATED. NO
TWO PLAYERS MUST HAVE THE SAME NAME, AND NO AMIGADOS PATHNAMES MUST BE
USED (IE NO : OR / IN THE NAME).
ONCE YOU HAVE ENTERED THE NEW PLAYER'S NAME AND CONFIRMED IT TO BE CORRECT,
YOU ARE GIVEN THE OPTION TO ALLOCATE A TEAM FOR THIS PLAYER. PLAYERS
WITHOUT A TEAM ALLOCATED TO THEM ARE IGNORED BY LEAGUE AND TEAM OPTIONS
( IDEAL FOR ENTERING AUNTIE FLO'S SCORE WITHOUT AFFECTING TEAM OR LEAGUE
AVERAGES ).
A PLAYERS TEAM CAN BE AMENDED AT A LATER DATE THROUGH THE AMEND OPTION.
IF YOU WISH TO ALLOCATE A TEAM TO A PLAYER SELECT THE TEAM REQUIRED FROM
THE TEAMS AVAILABLE TABLE.
<A> AMEND PLAYER (DUDE)
-----------------------
THIS IS POWERFUL MAN, THE AWESOME, BODACIOUS, MEAT OF THE SYSTEM. THERE
ARE NO FEATURES ABOUT A PLAYER THAT CAN'T BE AMENDED FROM HERE, BUT HANDLE
WITH CARE. SELECT PLAYER TO AMEND
<N> AMEND PLAYER'S NAME (FIGURE IT OUT)
<Z> RESET PLAYER TO ZERO (DELETE ALL HIS/HER GAMES)
<G> AMEND/DELETE INDIVIDUAL GAMES
<T> CHANGE PLAYER'S TEAM (ALLOCATE NEW TEAM TO PLAYER)
<ESC> EXIT TO CREATE, AMEND, DELETE MENU
AMENDING A PLAYER'S NAME IS SIMPLE, THE SYSTEM WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO
CHANGE A PLAYER'S NAME TO A NAME THAT IS ALREADY ON SYSTEM. SIMPLY TYPE
IN THE NEW NAME AND CONFIRM.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
RESETTING A PLAYER TO ZERO MEANS THAT ALL GAMES AND STATISTICS FOR THAT
PLAYER ARE DESTROYED LEAVING THE PLAYER WITH NO GAMES PLAYED AND RANKED
LAST. READ THE WARNING SCREEN AND TYPE `RESET' RETURN TO RESET PLAYER.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
AMENDING OR DELETING GAMES IS A LITTLE MORE DIFFICULT. THE GAMES FOR THE
SELECTED PLAYER ARE DISPLAYED IN BATCHES ON 20. IF YOU WISH TO AMEND OR
DELETE ONE OF THE GAMES CURRENTLY ON THE SCREEN THEN ANSWER "Y" TO THE
AMEND/DELETE GAME PROMPT IF NOT TYPE "N" AND THE NEXT 20 GAMES WILL BE
DISPLAYED KEEP DOING THIS UNTIL YOU SEE THE GAME YOU WISH TO AMEND OR
DELETE, OR THE LAST GAME PLAYED HAS BEEN DISPLAYED.
ON "Y" TO AMEND/DELETE PROMPT YOU ARE ASKED WHETHER YOU WISH TO AMEND OR
DELETE A GAME. PRESS <A> TO AMEND OR <D> TO DELETE. YOU ARE THEN ASKED
WHICH GAME YOU WISH TO AMEND OR DELETE BASED ON YOU LAST ANSWER, SELECT
REQUIRED GAME.
IF DELETED WAS SELECTED TYPE "DELETE" TO DELETE THE GAME, IF AMEND WAS
SELECTED ENTER NEW DATE, (C/R IF SAME DATE) AND NEW SCORE (C/R IF SAME)
AND THE LIST OF GAMES WILL RE-DISPLAY FROM START. TO EXIT THIS OPTION
KEEP ANSWERING "N" TO THE AMEND/DELETE ANY OF THESE GAMES PROMPT UNTIL
YOU GET TO THE END OF THE PLAYER'S FILE.
AMENDING/DELETING GAMES IS NOT NEARLY AS DIFFICULT AS TRYING TO EXPLAIN
HOW TO DO IT IN TEXT, BASICALLY JUST ANSWER ALL THE QUESTIONS ON THE
SCREEN.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
CHANGING A PLAYER'S TEAM IS EXACTLY THE SAME AS ALLOCATING A TEAM TO A
PLAYER WHEN YOU CREATE ONE. SIMPLY SELECT THE NEW TEAM FROM THE LIST
AVAILABLE AND CONFIRM. AS WITH MOST OPTIONS IN BOWL! ESC TO EXIT.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
<D> DELETE PLAYER
-----------------
TO DELETE A PLAYER'S FILE, REMOVING HIM/HER COMLETELY FROM THE SYSTEM,
SELECT THE REQUIRED PLAYER FROM THE LIST, CONFIRM THAT YOU WISH TO DELETE
THIS PLAYER, READ THE WARNING MESSAGE AND THEN TYPE `DELETE' RETURN. THE
PLAYER WILL NOW BE COMPLETELY REMOVED FROM THE SYSTEM LEAVING THAT
PLAYER'S NAME AVAILABLE FOR A NEW PLAYER IF REQUIRED.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
<Z> DELETE ALL PLAYER'S
-----------------------
THIS OPTION WILL DELETE ALL PLAYERS ON THE SYSTEM LEAVING ALL TEAMS AND
THE LEAGUE TOTALLY EMPTY. THE TEAMS THEMSELVES ARE NOT DELETED MERELY ALL
THE PLAYERS IN THEM. ON SELECTING THIS OPTION, READ THE WARNING AND TYPE
`DELETE ALL' RETURN TO REMOVE ALL THE PLAYERS FROM THE SYSTEM.
==========================================================================
<F> LIST PLAYER FILES
THIS OPTION ENABLES YOU TO DISPLAY/PRINT A LIST OF ALL THE PLAYERS ON THE
SYSTEM IN ORDER OF THEIR PLAYER NUMBER. PRESS <P> TO PRINT LIST OR <ESC>
TO EXIT.
==========================================================================
<O> TEAM CREATE, AMEND, DELETE
THIS OPTION NEEDS TO LOAD FROM DISK AND HAS THREE SUP OPTIONS.
<C> CREATE A TEAM
<A> AMEND A TEAM'S NAME
<D> DELETE A TEAM
CREATING A TEAM IS SIMILAR TO CREATING A PLAYER. SIMPLY TYPE IN THE NEW
TEAMS NAME, CONFIRM, PRESS RETURN TO EXIT. AS WITH PLAYER NAMES, NO
AMIGADOS PATHNAMES MUST BE USED (NO : OR / IN THE TEAM NAME).
AMENDING A TEAM'S NAME IS SIMPLE, SELECT THE REQUIRED TEAM FROM THE LIST
OF AVAILABLE TEAMS. ENTER A NEW NAME FOR THAT TEAM (OR RETURN FOR SAME
NAME) AND CONFIRM.
DELETING A TEAM IS, GUESS WHAT?, YES SIMPLE. SIMPLY SELECT THE TEAM TO
DELETE FROM THE LIST OF AVAILABLE TEAMS (YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO
DELETE A TEAM THAT HAS PLAYERS IN IT), READ WARNING, AND TYPE `DELETE' TO
REMOVE THAT TEAM FROM THE SYSTEM.
==========================================================================
<R> STATUS REPORT
THE STATUS REPORT OPTION TELLS YOU HOW CLOSE TO SYSTEM SPECIFICATION
LIMITS YOU ARE AND ALSO GIVES YOU SOME INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR BOWL! DATA
DISK.
EG
MAXIMUM CURRENT NUMBER
CAPACITY LEVEL LEFT
NUMBER OF TEAMS ON SYSTEM 40 12 28
NUMBER OF PLAYERS ON SYSTEM 50 26 24
NUMBER OF GAMES PER PLAYER 500 102 398
THE MAXIMUM CAPACITY IS THE HIGHEST NUMBER ALLOWED IN EACH FIELD ON SYSTEM
THE CURRENT LEVEL IS THE NUMBER CURRENTLEY IN EACH FIELD ON THE SYSTEM
THE NUMBER LEFT IS THE AMOUNT OF AVAILABLE SPACES IN EACH FIELD
BELOW THIS INFORMATION ARE SOME OTHER FIGURES.
BACK-UP COPY OF DATA.FIL LAST TAKEN :- 26-OCT-90
IT IS A GOOD IDEA TO TAKE REGULAR BACK-UPS OF YOUR DATA. THIS LINE SHOWS
WHEN THE LAST TIME A BACK-UP WAS TAKEN.
DATA.FIL STRUCTURE STATUS FLAG :- ?? or OK
THIS MERELY SHOWS WHETHER THE CURRENT SAVED PARAMETERS HAVE BEEN ABLE TO
MAKE IT BETWEEN THE MAIN MENU AND ANOTHER LARGE LOADABLE OPTION SUCH AS
ENTRY OR CREATE, AMEND, DELETE. WHEN SPECIFICATIONS ARE CHANGED, THE
STATUS OF THE DATA.FIL IS CHANGED TO ??. THIS MEANS IT IS UNTESTED. ONCE
THE DATA.FIL HAS PROVED IT CAN LOAD SUCCESSFULLY INTO ENTRY ETC. IT'S
STATUS IS RESTORED TO OK.
ALTHOUGH BOWL! WAS WRITTEN FOR 1-MEG MACHINES, 512K USERS SHOULD STILL BE
FINE RIGHT UP TO THE BOWL! 2.0 ABSOLUTE PARAMETERS OF 40 TEAMS, 75
PLAYERS, AND 1000 GAMES PER PLAYER.
CURRENT DATA DISK ID CODE :- 08737524
THIS SHOWS THE DATA DISK ID CODE OF THE CURRENT DATA DISK BEING USED.
THIS FIGURE HAS NO REAL USE TO THE USER, BUT THE COMPUTER USES IT TO CHECK
THAT THE CORRECT DATA DISK IS INSTALLED AT TIMES WHEN IT NEEDS TO ACCESS
IT. EACH DATA DISK HAS IT'S OWN UNIQUE ID CODE GENERATED WHEN IT IS
CREATED.
CURRENT DATA DISK STATUS :- 45% FULL
THIS SHOWS YOU HOW FULL THE DATA DISK IS. IF IT GETS TOO FULL (EG 95%)
YOU SHOULD DELETE SOME OF THE PLAYERS NOT BEING USED. OR START A NEW DATA
DISK.
CURRENT HANDICAP FORMULA IS 80% OF (210-AVERAGE)
TELLS YOU THE CURRENT FORMULA BEING USED TO CALCULATE HANDICAPS
==========================================================================
<A> AMEND SPECIFCATION
ALL PARAMETERS IN BOWL! USE UP MEMORY. SO IF YOU ONLY WANT 30 PLAYERS ON
THE SYSTEM SET THE TOTAL NUMBER OF PLAYERS ALLOWED TO SAY, 35. THE SAME
GOES FOR TEAMS, IF YOU ONLY WANT 10 TEAMS, SET THE TOTAL NUMBER ALLOWED TO
12, YOU CAN ALWAYS INCREASE THEM AGAIN LATER IF REQUIRED.
THERE ARE 3 SUB OPTIONS TO AMEND SPECIFICATTION.
<T> AMEND TEAM SPECIFICATION
----------------------------
THIS ENABLES YOU TO CHANGE THE TOTAL NUMBER OF TEAMS ALLOWED ON THE
SYSTEM. PRESS <A> TO AMEND, OR <ESC> TO EXIT. IF YOU CHOOSE TO AMEND THE
NUMBER OF TEAMS, THE CURSOR WILL MOVE UP TO THE LINE STATING THE NUMBER OF
TEAMS ALLOWED. ENTER THE NEW NUMBER REQUIRED AND PRESS RETURN, OR JUST
PRESS RETURN FOR THE SAME NUMBER OF TEAMS.
WHEN SPECIFICATIONS HAVE BEEN CHANGED A THREE OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE
<A> AMEND AGAIN
<U> EXIT USING NEW SET SPECIFICATION
<ESC> EXIT USING LAST SAVED SPECIFICATION
TO AMEND SPECIFICATION AGAINS PRESS <A>
TO CHANGE THE SPECIFICTIONS TO YOUR NEWLY SELECTED PARAMETERS SELECT <U>
TO CANCEL YOUR CHANGES PRESS <ESC>
<P> AMEND PLAYER SPECIFICATIONS
-------------------------------
THIS IS BASICALLY THE SAME AS FOR TEAMS EXCEPT YOU CHANGE THE NUMBER OF
PLAYERS AND NUMBER OF GAMES PER PLAYER. THE SAME EXIT METHOD IS USED
<H> AMEND HANDICAP FORMULA
--------------------------
THIS OPTION WILL SHOW YOU THE FORMULA THAT IS USED FOR CALCULATING
PLAYER'S HANDICAPS. IF YOU OPT TO CAHNGE IT YOU WILL BE ASKED FIRST FOR
THE NEW PERCENTAGE RATE (EG 80), AND THEN FOR THE NEW BASE SCORE RATE (EG
210). CONFIRM THIS TO BE CORRECT (IF IT IS), AND ALL HANDICAPS WILL BE
ADJUSTED TO NEW FIGURES CALCULATED WITH YOUR NEW FORMULA. MY LEAGUE USES
80% OF (210-AVERAGE SCORE).
<ESC> TO EXIT
-------------
FIGURE OUT THIS OPTION FOR YOUR SELF.
==========================================================================
<M> MAKE DATA DISK, BACK-UP OPTIONS
IMPORTANT NOTICE !!!
--------------------
IN BOWL! V2.0 THE BACKUP FILES ARE MADE TO THE SAME DISK AS THE ORIGINAL
FILES. THIS WILL BE CHANGED IN A LATER VERSION OF BOWL!, BUT FOR NOW, DO
NOT ATTEMPT TO SWAP DISKS. THE SYSTEM SHOULDN'T LET YOU ANYWAY. THE
BACKUP FILES ARE HELD IN A SEPARATE DIRECTORY CALLED `BACKUP' AND DO NOT
WRITE OVER THE CURRENT FILES. THANK YOU.
THERE ARE FIVE SUB OPTIONS TO <M> :-
<D> CREATE A DATA DISK (NEEDS A BLANK)
--------------------------------------
THIS OPTION IS FOR CREATING DATA DISKS. ON SELECTING <D>, YOU ARE ASKED
TO PRESS <M> TO MAKE A DATA DISK, OR ESC TO EXIT. BEFORE PRESSING <M>
MAKE SUR YOU HAVE A BLANK DISK AVAILABLE. IT DOES NOT HAVE TO BE
FORMATTED, AS BOWL! WILL FORMAT IT AGAIN ANYWAY.
PRESS <M> AND YOU WILL BE ASKED TO INSERT A DISK INTO DRIVE DF1: AND PRESS
RETURN. PRESS ANY OTHER KEY TO ABORT THIS OPTION.
YOU CAN CREATE A DATA-DISK OUT OF ALMOST ANY DISK BUT YOU MAY BE ASKED TO
ENTER AN AUTHORIZATION WORD IF THE DISK HAS ALREADY BEEN FORMATTED. FOR
EXAMPLE, IF YOU WISH TO REFORMAT A AMIGADOS DISK YOU WILL BE ASKED TO TYPE
`REFORMAT' RETURN, AND, IF YOU WISHED TO REFORMAT YOUR CURRENT DATA DISK,
WHICH IS DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMENDED, YOU WILL BE ASKED TO TYPE `KILLDISK'
SOME STRANGE DISK FORMATS (EG SOME MEGA-DEMOS) MAY CAUSE THE COMPUTER TO
FLIP OUT OF THE PROGRAM. DON'T USE OLD MEGA DEMOS WITHOUT INITIALIZING
THEM FROM WORKBENCH FIRST. THIS IS NOT A BUG AS SUCH, MERELY AMIGADOS
ERROR HANDLING RACING TO A DOS PROBLEM COMPARED TO HI-SOFT ERROR HANDLING
RACING TO THE SAME PROBLEM IS LIKE BEN JOHNSON ON STEROIDS RACING AGAINST
MY GRANNY (WITH BEN HAVING A 50 YARD HEAD START).
ANYWAY, INSERT YOUR `SOON TO BE A BOWL! DATA DISK' DISK IN DF1: AND PRESS
RETURN. THE DISK WILL BE REFORMATTED, THE NAME OF THE DISK WILL BE
CHANGED TO `BOWL!_DATA', AND THE START UP FILES WILL BE COPIED FROM BOWL!
TO THE NEW DATA DISK. BOWL! V2.0 CAN ONLY RECOGNISE DATA DISKS CALLED
BOWL!_DATA.
<B> BACK-UP CURRENT FILES TO DATA DISK
---------------------------------------
THIS OPTION WILL COPY THE FILES AS THEY STAND TO THE BACKUP DIRECTORY ON
YOUR BOWL! DATA DISK. THIS IS SO YOU CAN RE-LOAD THIS DATA IF YOUR
ORIGINAL FILES BECOME CORRUPT (BY TAKING OUT THE DATA DISK WHEN YOU WERE
NOT TOLD TO DO SO).
PRESS <B> AND YOU WILL BE ASKED TO ENTER THE DATE OF THE BACK-UP. IT IS
GENERALLY A GOOD IDEA TO ENTER THE CURRENT DATE AS THEN YOU HAVE SOME IDEA
WHEN YOU LAST MADE A BACK-UP. TO EXIT THIS OPTION JUST PRESS RETURN.
ONCE YOU HAVE ENTERED A VALID DATE, YOU WILL BE ASKED TO PRESS <B> AGAIN
TO MAKE A BACK-UP, OR <ESC> TO EXIT. THE CHOICE IS YOURS.
<P> PREVIEW BACKED UP FILES
---------------------------
THIS OPTION WILL DISPLAY THE FILES AS THEY WERE AT THE TIME THEY WERE LAST
BACKED UP. ANY PLAYERS OR GAMES ENTERED SINCE THEN WILL NOT BE IN THESE
FIGURES. THE FIRST SCREEN SHOWS THE SYSTEM SPECIFICATIONS AS THEY WERE AT
THE TIME THE BACKUP WAS TAKEN, PRESS SPACE AND THEN THE PLAYERS STATISTICS
ARE DISPLAYED. YOU CAN TOGGLE THROUGH THESE FIGURES AS MANY TIME AS YOU
LIKE.
TO RELOAD THESE FIGURES AS THE CURRENT FIGURES, PRESS <L>, READ THE
WARNING, AND TYPE `LOAD' RETURN. THIS WILL PERMENTANTELY DELETE THE
CURRENT FIGURES AND REPLACE THEM WITH THE BACKED UP FIGURES.
TO ABORT THIS OPTION WITHOUT RELOADING THE BACKED UP FIGURES, PRESS <ESC>
INSTEAD OF <L>.
<L> LOAD FILES FROM BACKUP
--------------------------
THIS OPTION IS THE SAME AS <P> BUT WITHOUT DISPLAYING THE BACKED UP
FIGURES FIRST. THE CONSEQUENCES ARE THE SAME. TYPE `LOAD' RETURN TO
RELOAD THE BACKED UP FIGURES.
<ESC> TO EXIT TO MAIN MENU
--------------------------
==========================================================================
<X> CHANGE CURRENT DATA DISK TO DISK IN DRIVE DF1:
THIS OPTION WILL CHANGE THE DATA DISK BEING ACCESSED TO WHICH EVER DATA
DISK IS IN DRIVE DF1: WHEN <X> IS PRESSED. IF NO DISK IS IN DRIVE DF1:
BOWL! WILL ASSUME NO DATA IS AVAILABLE AND THE RELEVANT OPTIONS WILL BE
SHUT DOWN. LIKEWISE IF A DATA DISK WITH PLAYERS IS INSERTED, MORE OPTIONS
WILL BE OPENED UP.
==========================================================================
<HELP> BOWL! V2.0 DOCUMENTS
THIS OPTION DISPLAYS THESE DOCUMENTS USING `MOST' TEXT DISPLAYER BY
RICHARD WYNN. PRESS ESCAPE TO RETURN TO BOWL!
==========================================================================
<DEL> BOWL! V2.0 CREDITS
WILL DISPLAY THE CREDITS FOR THE CURRENT VERSION OF BOWL! AND THE DATE IT
WAS COMPLETED. PRESS ANY KEY TO RETURN TO MENU.
==========================================================================
<P> CHANGE AMIGADOS PREFERENCES
ACCESSES PPREFSS PD PREFERENCES PROGRAM. THIS ENABLES YOU TO CHANGE THE
COLOURS AND PRINTER DRIVER TO YOUR CHOICE.
==========================================================================
<Q> QUIT BOWL!
IT IS RECOMENDED THAT EACH TIME YOU WISH TO SWITCH OFF, YOU EXIT BOWL! BY
PRESSING <Q> THIS WILL CLOSE ALL OPEN FILES.
==========================================================================
WELL THAT'S ALL FOLKS! IT'S NOT AS DIFFICULT AS IT SOUNDS JUST REMEMBER,
IF YOU HAVE ENTERED SOME DATA IT WILL NOT TOTALLY UPDATE UNTIL YOU RETURN
TO MAIN MENU.
GOOD LUCK
MARK WARD.
