Telephone Dialer
----------------
Phone numbers are kept in the file "Star.Dir" in the current directory.
These numbers, and a dialing prefix ("ATDT" for Hayes, for instance), are
entered from the "Phone/Dial" menu selection. Enter the service name in
the left column, and the number on the right. The dialing prefix goes in
the box to the right of the "SAVE" gadget.
Click any of the "Dial" gadgets to dial, "Cancel" to abort, or "SAVE" to
save to the phone file.
Function Keys
-------------
Function key definitions are reached via the "Terminal/Edit F-Keys" menu.
Enter the string you want each F-key to send. If you want the F-key to send
a CR (return), use a "}". You can enter control characters, and they will
saved and sent correctly, but they will be displayed as "box" characters.
Click "Cancel" to abort, or "SAVE" to save the function key definitions.
Newline (EOL) Control
---------------------
StarTerm can be set to send CR, LF, or CR/LF (Terminal/EOL Send); options
for receive are Strip CR, Leave CR, and Strip CR Insert LF (Terminal/EOL
Receive). These settings are used on both ASCII and XMODEM protocol (text)
file transfer.
Saving by Service
-----------------
You can save the configuration and function keys by service defined in the
dialer requester box. Click the "Dial" gadget for the desired service, then
save the function key definitions as above. Configuration data will be
saved in "<service>.Defs"; function keys will be save in "<service>.Keys".
These files will then be read the next time you dial that service. If you
haven't dialed a service, the files will be saved as "Defaults.Defs" and
"Defaults.Keys".
Load Files
----------
StarTerm recognizes load files on binary XMODEM downloads and does
apppropriate pad stripping of the trash. No more CHOP!
Defaults
--------
1200 baud, full duplex, 8-bits, no parity, 1 stop (8-N-1).
7-E-1 is also available.
