  15.      DESCRIPTION
  16.       Nfarchive is used to expire notes that have not been
  17.       modified in a    certain    amount of time.     Archives are stored
  18.       in ``archive notesfiles''.
  19.  
  20.       The -# parameter is the number of days a notestring must be
  21.       idle (no new responses) before being eligible    for archival.
  22.  
  23.       Expired notestrings are either deleted or placed in an
  24.       archive.  The    -d parameter tells nfarchive to    delete expired
  25.       notestrings.    If unselected, the expired notestrings are
  26.       placed in an archive.

  28.       The -m+ option specifies that    only notes marked with a
  29.       director message are eligible    for expiration.     -m- specifies
  30.       that only notes without a director message are eligible for
  31.       expiration.  By default, the expiration algorithm is
  32.       indifferent to a note's director message status.

  34.       The -w# option specified the working set size    for the
  35.       expired notesfiles.  The specified number represents the
  36.       minimum number of notes to leave in the notesfile.

  38.       The expiration threshold, working set    size, expiration
  39.       action, and director message requirements can    all be
  40.       specified as a director's option in each notesfile.
  41.       Specific values override what    is specified on    the nfarchive
  42.       command line.     A default value specifies using the value
  43.       specified on the command line.

  45.       The -f parameter specifies a file containing a list of
  46.       notesfiles to    archive.  Notesfiles can also be specified on
  47.       the command line.

  49.       By default, the archive of notesfile
  50.       /usr/spool/notes/somenotes is    in
  51.       /usr/spool/oldnotes/somenotes. The archive of
  52.       /some/other/place/somenotes also defaults to
  53.       /usr/spool/oldnotes/somenotes. To prevent collisions of this
  54.       nature, mapping between active and archive notesfiles    is
  55.       implemented.    The file
  56.       /usr/spool/notes/.utilities/net.alias/Archive-into contains
  57.       lines    of the form:

  75.       Notesfiles without an    entry in this file are archived    into
  76.       the /usr/spool/oldnotes directory with the appropriate last
  77.       component.

  81.       directors are    allowed    to write in an archive notesfile.
