Mw - An OS9/68000 Version of Mazewar
SSYYNNOOPPSSIISS
mw [-l=speed] [-s] [-m=maze]
DDEESSCCRRIIPPTTIIOONN
Mw is a new written version of the Mazewar-Game known
from some Unix(tm) systems for a mximum of eight player. Mw
won't support networks nor graphics other than ASCII. When the
first player starts mw the maze will be loaded from the
<gamesdir>/MYWAR directory. The aim of the game is to get the
most points (like every other game, i know), but it is a
multiplayer actiongame. So you can only score by killing another
player. If you are a lonley hacker you can also invoke "robot"
players, which are played by the computer (!!This costs a lot of
CPU-Time!!). There are three possibilities to kill another
player. The first is to shoot him, when you see him. The second
is to "run over" him. And the third are mines. You have a limit
number of mines to drop whereever you want. If someone else (or
you!!) steps on it this player died and every player standing
next to him are also dead. That's life! Normally you run through
the maze and try to shoot the others and pay attention to live
as long as possible. As you are playing a person you can only
look in one direction. You only recognize another player behind
you if he had killed you. That's life, too!
The maze itself is not static while the player are in.
Everyone can "shoot" a wall (well, some walls are to hard to
destroy :-)) and then the wall goes away. The oposite is also
possible. You can everywhere you are create a new wall (not
exactly everywhere, but everywhere on a "free" place).
To play the game, use following keys:
w walk forward
a turn left
d turn right
s shoot
x turn to the other direction
b go backwards
n create a wall
m drop a mine
r reposit yourself
^R redraw the screen
Q quit
All these keys can be assigned to other keys. For this
there exist the enviromentvariable MMWWKKEEYYSS.. The new keys MUST be
in the following sequence: turn right, trun left, walk, shoot,
turn to other direction, drop a mine, put a wall, go backwards,
reposit yourself, redraw the screen and quit. If your string
defined by MWKEYS are less than these sequence, the default is
taken for the rest.
Mw understands following options:
-l=<speed>
This starts an computer player using the name of the

logged in user. Very easy to use when using virtual
terminals else you have to login, start mw with this
option, I/O redirection to /nil in the background.
Then you log off and log on with another user.
-s
This showas you the actual scoreboard of all ever
played user. Shown is the score and the mines, that
this user still have.
-m=<maze>
With this option you can choose another maze IN THE
MYWAR Directory instead of the default maze. But only
the first user can choose this option, otherwise it is
ignored.
BBUUGGSS
The path of the MYWAR-Directory is static for these
user, who don't use yet 'Sysinfo'. For user with Sysinfo you can
put a line in your Sysinfo-file like this:
gamesdir,s=/h0/USR/GAMES
This Sysinfo entry will be used by every other game i ever will
write and which needs some files on an own gamedirectory. For mw
you have to create another subdirectory in the 'gamesdir' called
MYWAR. The default of gamesdir is /h0/GAMES.
FFIILLEESS
/h0/GAMES/MYWAR/maze
The default maze
/h0/GAMES/MYWAR/score
