  8. .I mkfnames
  9. uses the named
  10. .I files
  11. as input and writes a sorted database suitable for
  12. use as the full name database for
  13. .IR smail (8)
  14. on the standard output.
  15. The format of an input line is defined by
  16. .IR nptx (8).
  17. If no
  18. .I files
  19. are specified, then the password file is
  20. used to parsed and an attempt is made to
  21. munge it into the format needed by
  22. .I nptx.  No guarantees on this, since
  23. there are so many bizarre password file
  24. formats.
