  37.  RADSTONE SYSTEM : Fabrimex, who represent the UK company Radstone, have
  38.    lent CERN an OS-9 system for evaluation. It has a 33Mhz 68030 CPU,
  39.    4Mbytes of memory, a 3 1/2" 42 Mbyte hard disc, a 3 1/2" floppy and
  40.    a CMC Ethernet board in a 5-slot crate. Initial tests show that the CPU
  41.    gets full benefit from the high clock speed when executing the Dhrystones
  42.    test. If you would like to try anything on this system contact myself or

  45.  OS-9000 : Berndt Skaali has ported the ELF editor (used in Delphi) from OS-9
  46.    to his OS-9000 system (see documents section below).

  48.  FTP-SITE : Johan Pensar (jpensar@ra.abo.fi) is offering funic.funet.fi
  49.    (the main archive site in Finland) as an OS-9 archive site. He says :

  63. LICENCED SOFTWARE

  65.  LANCEDRV (release 1.0) : I have received this package (as mentioned in the
  66.    August mail-shot). The principal attractions of this driver are that it
  67.    supports multiple protocols and is very easy to port. There are example
  68.    ports for the E5, E6, FIC8232 and the VIP. I have also done a port for
  69.    the MVME147.

  71.    When running ftp to transfer a 1MByte file from ram-disc to ram-disc
  72.    the package seems to be upto 20% slower than the basic driver
  73.    [But faster in one combination!]

  89.  NFS/Client (release 1.0) : These licences )as mentioned in the August
  90.    mail-shot) have now arrived and can be purchased for 160sf. Preliminary
  91.    tests have shown that this software is slow although throughput should
  92.    be significantly better with the new release of ISP (see below). There
  93.    are also some question marks over the mapping of OS-9 to UNIX users and
  94.    the compatibility with DEC NFS implementations. Further testing is in
  95.    hand.

  97.  INTERNET SUPPORT PACKAGE [ISP] (Beta release 1.3 for MVME147) : I have
  98.    just received this. It has a better memory allocation algorithm, uses
  99.    larger packets when possible, supports raw ethernet packets, handles
  100.    'dynamic' routing (or the fixed routing given by ipconfig) and has
  101.    various minor corrections and additions.

  103.    It offers considerably better throughput when transferring 1Mbyte files
  104.    from ram-disc to ram-disc using ftp :

  113.  UNIBRIDGE :
  114.   1) The fixmod utility, under Unibridge, is incorrect. A corrected
  115.      version, written by Wolfgang Heinze, has been forwarded to me by Nicolas
  116.      de Metz-Noblat and is now installed in the bin and bin_2.3 directories.
  117.   2) The ident utility, under Unibridge, has the same name as a utility
  118.      of the source control system. To make sure that you use the correct
  119.      ident ensure that /usr/local/os9/bin_2.3 (or /usr/local/os9/bin)
  120.      precedes /usr/local/unix in your PATH.
  121.   3) The romsplit utility has been added to Unibridge (source from Microware).

  123.  DLOAD : the PS division has the sources of this command (from THEMIS) which
  124.    allows their CPU's to be down-loaded via the VMEbus. Contact Nicolas

  127.  UTILITIES PACKAGE : BVM (a UK company) have a package of 31 OS-9 utilities
  128.   available for 150 pounds. However the majority of these utilities are

  158.           Unibridge without using an OS/9 disk system at any time.

  160.           owner and the module attributes.

  192.            Apparently, the utility outputs that it has fixed the Header
  193.            parity, but it forgets to do it....
  194.            This makes it unuseable, and - de facto - makes the biggest
  195.            part of the cross-program production chain useless for me
  196.            since a disk-based OS/9 is always required (and a lot of FTP
  197.            transfers for nothing).
