This is a port of the binary file editor with emacs-like bindings BEAV
ver. 1.40 to OSK. The previous OSK port was done several years ago by
Stephan Paschedag for ver. 1.20. I used here parts of his code including his
new OS-9 specific command 'update-module-crc', bound to Esc =.
All the changes I had to make in the original sources have been marked by
'#ifdef OSK' or in a similar way. These include two cases where the
parentheses in the original text are probably misplaced (I have notified the
author).
Hardcopy documentation of BEAV consists of the ASCII manual beav140.txt.
I found in Usenet a manual in the Latex form which is much nicer to read and
which I have included in the package. Although it is for version 1.32, only
few things were added since to BEAV (I found the FLOAT display mode and the
'screen-rows' command Esc Ctl-R).
The ready-to-use object file 'beav' compiled for 68000 is in the main
directory. Also there you will find examples of hidden customization files
.beavrc.vt100 and .beavrc.vt220. I do not use any of these on my MM/1a at
home as BEAV reads the termcap and understands my keyboard well enough. I
use them at work on the DEC terminals where I want to use the function keys.
