  13.      This is a modified version of the official 2.3a release. A few things
  14. had to be changed in order to make PGP compile on the Amiga platform
  15. without errors. Additionally, a few Amiga specific features have been added
  16. in this release. The executables have been compiled with SAS/C 6.50 and
  17. have been tested for more than 4 weeks by several persons without any
  18. problems. Hence, the time for a release had come.
  19.  
  20.      This archive contains anything you need to run PGP: The binaries, all
  21. docs, contributions, etc... The complete sources are available, too. Look
  22. out for a PGPAmiga2_3a2_src.lha archive that should be available on the
  23. same source you got this release from. If you can't find it, feel free to
  24. send me e-mail and we'll find some way to deliver the latest version to
  25. you. By the way: I deleted a few files in this release, because they're
  26. useless for Amiga owners. If you're interested in a VMS installation guide,
  27. get the official 2.3a release. :-)

  29.      If you have any questions concerning PGP, DO NOT E-MAIL ME UNTIL
  30. YOU'VE READ THE MANUAL!! Security is no easy thing, you won't be able to
  31. use PGP correctly without reading the manual!! However, if you do not
  32. understand something or something does not work as described, feel free to
  33. ask me via e-mail or to post your question in alt.security.pgp.

  35. Finally, here's a list of changes I've made:
  36.  
  37.  - fixed a bug in PGP's filehandling: It tried to move files using
  38.    rename(), what failed if the target was on another device. Now, the
  39.    routine checks if the rename succeeded and copies the file otherwise.
  40.  
  41.  - modified PGP to recognize local (SET vs. SETENV) shell variables, too.
  42.    (Only available under OS 2.04 or later!)
  43.  
  44.  - the configfile has been renamed from "config.txt" to "pgp.config"
  45.  
  46.  - modified filename manipulating functions to use "T:" as temporary file
  47.    directory
  48.  
  49.  - PGP requires only 8k stack or less. If the shell's default stack is too
  50.    small, PGP allocates a new one automatically.
  51.  
  52.  - the executable is now pure and may be made resident
  53.  
  54.  - reformatted the english help-file. Thanks to Mark Constable
  55.    <markc@wnet.edex.edu.au> for the effort!!
  56.  
  57.  - modified the md5sum utility to work on the Amiga. The sources,
  58.    executable and manual can be found in the "contrib/" directory.
  59.  
  60.  - fixed CTRL-C Handling
  61.  
  62.  - fixed a bug in more.c, sometimes causing a division through zero
  63.    exception
  64.  
  65.  - removed UNIX signal-stuff (is handled by SAS/C automatically)
  66.  
  67.  - removed the 'is-helpfile-binary?' check, because it didn't make much
  68.    sense IMHO and caused problems with my C compiler
  69.  
  70.  - converted the documentation to AmigaGuide-format. Many thanks Jin S Choi
  71.    for authoring the TexInfo style docs. (If you happen to find any bugs or
  72.    formatting errors in the manual, please report them! I didn't read the
  73.    whole manual again. :->)

  76.      If you want to validate if all files are unmodified, use the md5sum
  77. utility together with the checksums appended to this text. Just type:

  79.         contrib/md5sum/md5sum -cv readme.amiga

  81. and all files in the distribuion will be checked. This file file itself is
  82. signed with my secret key, so a simple
