- Notes
- -----
-
- SuperLeague V3.51 is the Result of many months AMOS Programming and
- extensive testing. Despite this, it may be that combinations of peripherals,
- memory setups, etc. beyond my humble system may cause compatability problems
- In such cases please write to me at this address, so that I can correct
- errors in future releases :

- Important Notes:
-
- SuperLeague can handle leagues with up to 26 teams using either
- a two or three points for a win system. This is sufficient to maintain
- most football leagues - Certainly the FA Premier, Football League 1,2 and 3
- and Scotland / Italy / France etc.
-
- In each Table, One team can be picked as the 'Favourites'. This
- means you can follow your team via SuperLeague, as the selected 'Favourite'
- has extensive extra features including Form guide, Goals Chart,
- Seasons Results (Including Scorers and Timings), and Postion Graph.
- The Filenames handling these extra features are held in the 'SysFiles'
- directory on disk and should not be relocated.
- Similarly, The SL3Prefs.data file contains the saved preferences,
- and is always held in the root directory. This file MUST NOT be renamed or
- moved. Deletion will probably be terminal. Always keep a backup.
-
- Hard disk users should see the accompanying Hard-disk document.
-
- WARNING : SuperLeague requires 1MB AT LEAST, and although the current
- version should run from Workbench even when the memory-consuming printer
- software is active, you may need to run it from CLI if memory is causing
- problems.
-
- Instructions
- ------------
- Since SuperLeague is menu-driven - I will document it menu item by menu item
-
- Menu 1 - Files
-
- Load League :
- As it says just loads the league, along with assorted prefs specific
- to that league , i.e. Favourite team in that league etc.
- If the filename does not exist it will ask for another. Simply select Cancel
- if you have chosen the option by mistake.
-
- Save League :
- Self Explanatory. Simply type in a filename or select an existing
- file to overwrite. Alternatively, you can Cancel.
- NOTE: An ASCII Save Occurs Automatically to the root directory, with the
- name being the League title with '.asc' bolted on.
- e.g 'FA Premier League.Asc' would appear in the root directory.
-
- Preferences :
- Pretty much Self Explanatory, although it should be pointed out
- that the option Quit on the title bar will not Cancel changes made.
- Save will save the prefs as they appear at that time, then exit to main
- menu ; Quit will Exit to Main Menu USING the settings as they have been
- altered.
-
- Print Options :
- Allows Printing Of Any League Table Including the One In Memory
- or one from an ASCII file (See Save Above). Also allows Printing of the
- Favourite team Season Results File.
-
- About :
- Information about SuperLeague.
- Quit :
- Obviously, Quits the system . Requires Confirmation by a Press of
- 'q' on the keyboard.
-
- Menu 2 - Entering Changes
-
- Enter Results :
- Input League Results using a point-and-click interface.
- Simply select the teams, then input the scores and confirm selection.
- N.B. When A Result is input featuring the team selected as 'Favourite' ,
- SuperLeague will ask for additional information about scorers and
- goal timings. This Information will then be saved to files.
-
- IMPORTANT :
- The League Postion Graph is calculated from a System file calculating
- and storing the league position every time you leave the Enter Results
- screen having input a result of your favourite team. You are therefore
- strongly advised to follow these two golden rules :
-
- 1) Try to Input All the Weekends Results AT ONCE. This will lead to
- the correct league position being calculated. Obviously if you
- were to only enter the result of your favourite team, and then
- enter the other results later, a false position would have been
- stored in the System 'Position' file since the favourite team
- would have played a game more AT THE TIME the position was
- calculated. Just to Clarify - The new league position of the
- favourite team is calculated and stored when you select EXIT on
- the Enter Results Screen having at somepoint during that
- Results-Entering-Session entered a favourite team result.
-
- 2) Never Enter MORE THAN ONE favourite team result during a single
- Enter Result Session. To get around this simply select exit,
- then Re-Select 'Enter Result' from the Menu Screen. This would
- be used in situations where you are a bit behind in keeping
- the table up to date and have several results to enter for each
- team. The reason for this precaution is again to do with the
- system 'position' file, which as described before, is updated
- after you select EXIT on the Enter Results Screen. Hence if you
- have input two 'favourite' team results before selecting exit,
- then the position calculated will represent 2 games - you will
- have 'lost' a week on the Position graph.
-
- It should be stressed that failiure to observe these 'Golden Rules' will
- not crash or seriously affect the running of SuperLeague, but will simply
- cause inadequacies in the data saved to disk which is used in the production
- of features such as the League Position Tracker.
-
- Enter Cup Results :
-
- This is to keep up the cup results record of the 'favourite' team
- assigned to a particular league. All features are self explanatory.
- It should be noted that if the Cup File as defined in preferences does not
- exist and this option is selected then you will be given the option to
- initialise that filename. If you do this you will be returned to the
- menu screen. Then simply Re-Select the Enter Cup Results option and all will
- be well. You should not enter results if you do not wish them to remain on
- file. It is not possible to erase stored data from SuperLeague once it has
- been confirmed and saved to disk.
-
- Change Team Names :
-
- Self-Explanatory. The Teams names are not saved by themselves, but
- as part of a league table. Hence if you change the team names and wish them
- to remain when you reload, you will have to save the current league table
- which will store the new names along with it. To automatically load it on
- bootup, the appropriate Prefs Option will have to be set to the particular
- filename you save under. Default names are those of the 1993-4 FA Premier.
-
- Menu 3 - View Data
-
- View League :
- Shows the Current Table in Memory. Clicking on the title bar reveals
- the points for a win in this league and the goal difference ranking system.
- i.e In the Football League goal-difference is irrelavent, it is only based
- on goals scored. A further option is just for interest - to see what the
- table would be under the 'other' points for a win system. In other words,
- if you have a 3 points-for-a-win league in memory then the 'Other Table'
- option would show you what the table would look like under a 2 points for a
- win system.
-
- View Favourite Team Results :
- Shows the Season Results file, and the home and away records for
- the season. The Results list is operated by a slider.
-
- View Favourite Team Form :
- Calculates the form based on the last 5 results of your favourite
- team.
-
- View Position Graph :
- Draws a graph to show the fluctuations of your favourite team's
- league position over the season.
-
- View Goal Timings Chart :
- Creates a Tally Chart to show the number of goals your favourite
- team has scored in various time intervals in their games.
-
- Menu 4 - Stats
-
- Attacking / Defending chart :
- Shows a list of the top attacking and defensive teams in the league
- currently in memory.
-
- Averages :
- Shows several ranked lists of the current teams in memory based on
- goals per game (both scored and conceded) and points per game.
-
- Goal difference List :
- Shows a ranked list of the best and worst goal differences of the
- teams in the current league in memory.
-
-
- Menu 5 - Credits
-
- Information about SuperLeague.
-
- Menu 6 - Clock and Date
-
- Assuming you have an Internal clock in your Amiga, and the time has
- been correctly set from it in the startup-sequence via Setclock , then this
- Menu Item keeps track of the current time. It will not be updated while you
- watch, but every time the menu bar is called up by pressing the right mouse
- button, it will show the latest time.
