- The aim of Silverblade is to fly your shiny new silver helicopter over six
- different landscapes (defender style), wiping out a set number of enemy red
- helicopters for each level.
-
- Your helicopter is controlled with a joystick - Move it up to gain altitude,
- down to go closer to the ground, and left and right to change the direction
- you are flying in. Press fire to shoot a missile.
-
- At the beginning of a level you are told how many enemies you have to
- destroy to complete it along with some other information about the level
- such as the shot power and speed of the opposing helicopters, these are
- shown in fraction form eg. if the enemy speed is 2/8, this means that
- helicopters move at two eighths of the fastest speed. Press fire to
- continue after reading the information. The next screen shows `Repairs`, it
- will display how much cash you have got, and the state of your energy bar.
- At the start, you will have no money and a full energy bar. To alter the
- amount of energy (how many hits you can take), move the joystick left and
- right, your cash will go up or down depending of the movement, you can start
- a level with the minimum energy level but obviously you will not last very
- long. The next screen after pressing fire shows your power-up level -
- beginning at level 1. There are six stages of missile power each costing
- $300, if you have enough money, you can buy a power-up by moving the
- joystick right. If you have a higher power-up and wish to reduce it then
- move it left, your cash level will go up by $300 each time you do this.
- Pressing fire now starts the game.
-
- During play you will see different types of enemies - only concentrate on
- destroying the helicopters as these are the only ones that count. Each time
- you kill one, your number of kills will increase at the top of the screen.
- Occasionally, a small parachute with a letter on it will fall from the sky,
- they do the following:
-
- E - Increases your energy bar at the top of the screen.
- D - Decreases your energy.
- B - Unleashes two waves of fire from both sides of your helicopter,
- and damages everything in their path.
- S - Makes you resistant to enemy fire and collisions with enemies and
- the ground for a short time, your energy bar will be white instead
- of red for this period so keep an eye on it.
- R - Makes your missiles a lot faster for a period of time, this is
- more beneficial for the higher power-ups; it`s just a nuisance if
- you have weedy missile power.
-
- To gain money to replenish your energy and buy power-ups later on, you have
- to transport crates that are lying on the ground to specified points on the
- the level, these are marked by a red cross on the ground. To pick up a
- crate, fly low towards it and touch it. The height at which you must be to
- collect the crates is damaging to your energy, so do not remain at that
- level for very long - just swoop down, pick it up, and jerk back up again.
- You recieve $80 when the crate comes in contact with the red cross, you do
- not have to travel as low when dropping off the crate so you will not lose
- energy.
-
- At the end of the level, the three screens showing information, repairs and
- powerups will be updated and you can use the money earned from transporting
- crates to replace energy and buy power-ups.
-
- Extra Stuff:
-
- The best way to shoot down an enemy is to hover just above it and then press
- fire, that way you can get a lot of hits in with just one missile (This is
- because the missile is moving slowly to begin with and drops down a bit
- before it shoots off)
-
- The best way to make money is to wait until a shield parachute comes down,
- then transport the crates quickly without wasting any energy, you can
- usually get about $240 - $400 before if wears off.
-
- Watch out for the red dive-bombing jet things that fly downwards regularly -
- they can wipe out most of your energy if they hit you.
-
- Start to worry when your helicopter is smoking, this means you have low
- energy - don`t try to transport crates at this point until you pick up an
- `Energy` or `Sheild` parachute.
-
- When a `B` appears, wait until a helicopter comes on screen level with you,
- and then pick it up. When a wave of fire from the bomb hits the enemy,
- turn in the opposite direction to increase the amount of time that the fire
- is damaging it.
-
- To exit the programme press `Ctrl` and `C` together.
-

- the future then please send five pounds for the time and effort put into
- producing this game.
-

- PS. The other things on this disk are:
- Simfish - It will explain itself when you load it up.
- SBTune - This was designed to be the tune that plays when you load up
- Silverblade, but unfortunately you would have needed 2meg to
- run the game so it is on the disk separately. If you want to
- hear it, load it into any Med or Tracker programme.
