COMMENT:A collection of essays, mostly reproductions of Skeptical Inquirer columns. Criticisms of psychic claims are most prominent, particularly where more blatantly strange psi claims are concerned. Other themes are bizarre New Age facets, fundamentalist religion, and glances at personalities such as L. Ron Hubbard, Freud, G. McReady Price, Shirley MacLaine, Ray Palmer and so on. Among the essays difficult to categorize are those on: The Mars Face, Sheldrake's morphogenetic fields, perpetual motion (fairly detailed), 666, the Shaver mystery and UFO's, and weird psychic astronomy claims. Enjoyable, if not too deep, and at times too hostile.
