  2. you're on your own for most, but one should be explained:  The Usenet
  3. group "alt.sysadmin.recovery", source of some quotations below, is also
  4. denoted by the abbreviations "a.s.r." and "ASR", as "Scary Devil Monastery" 
  5. (an anagram variant), and by extension as simply "The Monastery".

  7. I've also provided explanations for some of the others.  (For the
  8. remainder, you can figure them out with not much effort.  Or maybe 
  9. for you they're just not funny, or You Had to Be There.)

  11. The annotation 'McQ!  (4x80)' is a nod to the McQuary Limit -- named for George 
  12. McQuary -- the Internet-courtesy rule of thumb about .signature blocks whose 
  13. gist is:  Kindly manage to be witty without exceeding four 80-column lines, 
  14. or prepare to be mocked mercilessly on alt.fan.warlord and elsewhere.
